Enigma Readme ============= M-Audio 2006 COMPATIBILITY: Win XP SP1, SP2 Mac OS X 10.

.3 and higher QUICKSTART Ensure your M-Audio product is connected to the computer and switched on. If MIDI Out from USB mode is a feature on your M-Audio product, ensure it is set to OFF. Now run Enigma. PHYSICAL DEVICE MEMORY CONTENT Enigma will automatically locate your M-Audio product. The first entry with a red symbol in the Devices and Files list in the upper left corner of the screen represents the current memory content of your M-Audio product, You can change any of the controller assignments contained therein. FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS The list entry with your device name and a blue symbol represents the factory defaults of your M-Audio product. These default values are fixed and cannot be edited. USER PRESET BANKS To create a new set of editable user presets, click on the '+' button in the bottom left hand corner. A new list entry with your device name will be placed in the Devices and Files list in the upper left and will automatically be highlighted. The orange symbol next to this list entry signifies that this is a user-created preset bank. You can create your own user banks to customize and save controller assignments within the contained presets / memory locations. EDITING PARAMETERSSelect any list entry for your M-Audio product from the Devices and Files list in the upper left. All of the memory locations / presets of the selected preset bank or device are represented in the Preset list in the field below it. Select a memory preset from the Preset list then double-click on any control on the graphic in Enigmas main window. This brings up the Editor dialog. Here you can edit the various parameters of the control you selected. You can also swap one control's parameters with another by simply clicking on a control and dragging onto another. To copy a control's parameters, hold down CTRL when you click and drag one control onto another. You can swap/copy controls between different user banks or devices by clicking on a control and dragging it onto a different user bank in the upper left (without releasing the mouse button) and then after the virtual representation of the device in the main window has updated, dragging onto the desired destination control. It is possible to copy and swap presets between devices using the same principle. The actual M-Audio hardware device will not use the edited settings until they are transmitted to the device and then recalled from the devices physical memory. See the TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE section further below. LIBRARY The Library button in the upper right corner of the screen will open a library that contains

the controllers of many popular VST Instruments and useful MIDI messages by name. Select the name of the VST Instrument or Controller Bank from the upper list, then simply drag controllers from the Controls list of the library onto the graphic of your M-Audio product. TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE The three buttons in the top left hand corner are used to synchronize the data shown in Enigma with your M-Audio product's built in memory. The left button will cause a connected M-Audio hardware device to transmit its full memory contents to the Enigma software. The middle button sends only the changes you have made from the Enigma software to the connected M-Audio hardware device. The right button will send the entire contents of the selected user bank or device from the Enigma software to your M-Audio hardware device. At any time, it is possible to drag any user bank that you have created (orange symbol) onto the red device on top of the Devices and Files list in the upper left (representing the actual M-Audio hardwares current memory content) to send all its settings to your M-Audio products built-in memory. IMPORTANT: You ALWAYS need to recall the desired memory preset on the actual M-Audio hardware device after you have sent any changes made in Enigma to the physical device. This is done by hitting the Recall button on your M-Audio device, followed by entering the desired preset number using the numeric keypad or +/- buttons. Please see your M-Audio products full user guide for details.
