EXAM REPORT + FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE

This examination is a test if effective communication and interaction skills and assessment focuses on the range of vocabulary and structure, fluency, intelligibility,effective participation and interaction, and meaningful contribution. Why students are blasted? 1.Overuse formulaic expressions[ Phases below are not advised to use] -Lets begin the discussion -Do you mind if I begin? -What do you think? -How about you? -Thats a good idea. -Yes, I agree. 2.Poor Turn-taking skills Candidates simply speak one after the other without really listening or responding appropriately to other participants. Some Candidates also respond with irrelevant points during the discussion and either repeated the points previously. 3.Poor comprehension Many candidates do not fully comprehend either the situation or the task and focus on general and peripheral issues instead of addressing the task requirement. What makes the examiners tick? -Make effective use of information from their own and others presentations and respond appropriately. -Add ideas of their owns, not just repeating. -Candidates who can support their points with relevant examples from the media engage their listeners attention and make a favourable impression on their examiners. To tackle the poor turn-taking skills, we need to do these 1.Repeat the previous MAIN point mentioned briefly and add your additional opinion or relevant examples to spice up your conversation. 2.At the end of what you say, you are advised to add a question. For example, It work, isnt it?/ Dont you think its good?/ Anything add?/] When you are REALLY BAD AT ORAL You are advised to contribute more in the discussion by saying a single word or a simple sentence. Situation: You need to find some information for a specific topic You can say. I think interview is good./Can we hold a interview?/ Interview? And then you let others to share their opinion. During this, you can remember some keys words and point them out in your turn and finally add your opinion and examples you thought during that period of time.
