January 12, 2010, Port-au-Prince, Haiti was hit by a category 7.0 earthquake. Since then, the entire country has been recovering from the quakes devastating effects. HELPING HANDS FOR LIMONADE assists children in Limonade, Haiti, who have been displaced by the 2010 catastrophe. MISSION HELPING HANDS FOR LIMONADES goals are simple, but life changing. Our mission is threefold: * To provide a healthy educational environment to 100 children in Limonade, Haiti. This includes not only schooling, but regular meals. As many studies have shown, without proper nutrition, it is difficult for a child to learn. * To assist parents financially through microfinanancing efforts. Astonishingly, it only takes about $100 to keep a small Haitian business running for a year. Most of the businesses HELPING HANDS FOR LIMONADE funds are headed by single mothers. * To provide spiritual support to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. The volunteer staff of HELPING HANDS FOR LIMONADE firmly believes that anything good must come from our heavenly Father. STAFF HELPING HANDS FOR LIMONADE is run by a staff of volunteers. We have combined our resources and skills with the ambition of significantly impacting the lives of Haitian children and their families. Reverend Joseph W. Maitre was born in Haiti. Since coming to the states, it has been his aspiration to assist those suffering in Haiti. Currently, Rev. Maitre ministers to pastors in Florida, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. Josephine Marcellin Maitre is also a Haitian native who has spent more than half her life in the United States. She is a motivational speaker and encourages Haitians in America facing language and cultural barriers.
