Hello friends and family, God has truly been at work in my life this year as I made the transition

to college life at Appalachian State University. He has brought great friends into my life that have guided me and sustained me at my home away from home. I want to thank those of you who have continually lifted me up in prayer, God has undoubtedly been listening! Since arriving on campus, I have begun to view college as a mission field, and I am thankful for the people God has brought into my life who are not believers, that I might live out the gospel in His strength before them as a testimony to His grace.

That being said, I have felt an ever increasing pull toward mission work overseas and I am very excited to tell you that God has opened the door for me to go to India this summer. I believe God has given me a strong sense of calling to this country for some time now, and I am overwhelmed with joy that everything is finally coming together. Some Information about India: Over 40% of the worlds poor live in India, mostly in slums. It is one of the least reached countries in the world, with nearly 88% of the population having no access to a Bible in their language or a single Christian living among them. Many have never even heard of the name of Jesus. Although India claims to be a pluralistic democracy, there is intense persecution throughout India as the small Christian population is caught in the middle of violent uprisings between Muslims and Hindus, especially in urban settings. http://www.operationworld.org/indi has a very powerful video on India and good prayer points for the country

India is a country in desperate need for the good news of Christ, and I would humbly ask for you to pray for this country and for me and the team as we prepare for what we are going to encounter there. I will not be going through my church, but through the mission agency known as the International Mission Board. Because of security concerns I cannot say exactly where in India we will be, but I will be there for 50 days over the course of the summer, which will be the longest amount of time that I have ever been out of the country. Since this is the case, I will need prayer for focus and the encouragement and comfort that only the Holy Spirit can provide. I am also in need of financial support. The average cost per day will be around $45 and taking airfare into consideration, the total cost may range anywhere from $4,500 to $4,800,

making this also the most expensive trip I have ever been on. I have taken a job at Food Services on our campus to help pay a portion of the cost, but I am still in substantial need of financial support. If you are able to give, it would be such a tremendous encouragement and blessing. Please make your checks out to me, with IMB India in the memo line. I would directly deposit your check to the IMB, but that is not possible in this case. I know I have asked many of you for support on previous trips and you may not be able to give this time, but if you would pray for me leading up to the trip and over the summer as I am in India, that would also be such a blessing. Sincerely,

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. And he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest. Matthew 9:36-38
