Dear Colleague:
We all know that content remains king. However, when our scientic communities are inundated with research results from hundreds of sources on a regular basis, the publisher that wears the crown will be the one with the most valuable content. And its exactly that type of high-quality work that generations of researchers have found in the journals of AIP, its member societies and publishing partnersand the trend remains unchanged today. We all know that change is constant too, and what does change in terms of our content is how it is packaged, delivered, and priced. And so without further ado, we present the 2012 Journal Catalog a consolidated resource of our collective offerings for the 2012 subscription year. Inside these covers you will nd descriptions of some of the most highly cited and highly rated publications in physics and engineering, along with key facts and gures to help you better promote and describe these products to your respective library communities. In the back of the catalog, you will also nd a comprehensive 2012 price list, along with ordering instructions and contact information for our customer support staff. As you leaf through the catalog, there are a few specic changes for 2012 that wed like to bring to your attention. The rst of these involves two of AIPs newer publications, Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy (JRSE) and Biomicrouidics (BMF). Both are moving to a subscription model in 2012 and will follow the same tiering schedule as other AIP journals. We are also boosting the content of our AIP Complete package by adding JRSE and BMF, as well as Journal of Laser Applications, which we publish in partnership with the Laser Institute of America. Another change revolves around AIPs agship magazine Physics Today, which has expanded the online access back to 1999 included with a regular subscription, eliminating the rolling backle previously provided with a current subscription. You may also be interested to know that Physics Today is offering an extended backle option, with access back to Volume 1 (1948) and that the magazine will have tiered pricing for the rst time in 2012. Extended backles are also now available for two additional AIP journals Chaos and Low Temperature Physics, and for the AIP Conference Proceedings series. A subscription to Chaos and AIP Conference Proceedings with the extended backle option will include access from their rst volumes to the present. Low Temperature Physics with the extended backle will include the years 1997-2012. Also new for 2012, institutions subscribing to ebooks on an annual basis from our publishing partner the Society of Exploration Geophysicists will have perpetual access to every title published during the year in which they subscribe. In addition, rates for SEG eBooks remain unchanged from 2011, even though the collection has doubled in size. The Optical Society of America (OSA), one of AIPs member societies, will have a new entry in its Express Journals collection entitled Optical Materials Express. In addition, OSA will offer new subscription options for access to content published in their Conference Proceedings. Lastly, we urge you sign up for our Library Matters Newsletter at librarians.aip.org/newsletter.html to keep current with the latest developments. As always, you can contact our customer service team at 800-3446902 (U.S. and Canada) and +1-516-576-2270, or email us at subs@aip.org with any questions you may have. On behalf of AIP, our member societies, and publishing partners, we want to thank you for your ongoing support of our respective publishing programs.

Sincerely,

Computing in Science and Engineering

cise.aip.org
Addressing large computational problems across many scientific disciplines
Hard sciences such as physics, medicine, and astronomy share a common need for efficient algorithms, system software, and computer architecture to address large computational problems. However, useful advances in computational techniques that could benefit many researchers are rarely shared across different scientific fields. Computing in Science & Engineering (CiSE) provides a more accessible forum for crosspollinating such research. CiSE covers the development of computing tools and methods as well as their effective use in both computational and experimental science and engineering. Technical content is peer-reviewed, and each issue examines a remarkable variety of theme topics as broad as computation itself. There are also regular departments each issue for computer simulations, computing prescriptions, novel architectures, scientific programming, and visualization. The intended audience comprises physical scientists, engineers, applied mathematicians, and others who would benefit from computational methodologies.

ecsdl.org
An integrated collection of high-impact publications
The ECS Digital Library is a single seamless resource from which researchers can access the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES), Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters (ESL), ECS Meeting Abstracts, ECS Transactions (ECST), ECS proceedings volumes, and Interface magazine. To make the site as robust as possible, ECS has been capturing the legacy content of the Journal of The Electrochemical Society, with the goal of making the complete archive available back to 1902. Issues of JES can now be accessed back to 1930. All ESL articles since the publications inception in mid-1998 are also available.

ECS Transactions
ecsdl.org/ECST
Rapid access to proceedings from ECS meetings and ECS-sponsored meetings
ECS Transactions (ECST) offers online access to full-text papers presented at ECS meetings and ECS-sponsored meetings. One volume is published for each meeting. Each volume contains many issues, and each issue includes a collection of papers on a specific topic. In many cases, the full-length papers are available approximately 10 days before the meeting at which the papers are being presented. Other articles become available to readers approximately 12 weeks after the meeting, a significant advance in publication time for this content. Abstracts residing in ECS Meeting Abstracts, freely available online, will be linked to a full paper if it has been published in ECST. If an ECST paper goes on to be accepted in one of ECSs peer-reviewed technical journals, ECST will carry a forward link to that published article.

GEOPHYSICS provides theoretical and mathematical tools needed to reproduce depicted work, encouraging further development and research. GEOPHYSICS papers, drawn from industry and academia, undergo a rigorous peer-review process to validate the described methods and conclusions. GEOPHYSICS editors strongly encourage the use of real data, including case histories, to highlight current technology. One or two issues per year feature a section of solicited papers on a particular subject of current interest. Special sections and supplements in 2011 and 2012 are covering seismic anisotropy; subsalt exploration and development; microseismic monitoring; multiphysics borehole geophysical measurements, formation evaluation, petrophysics, and rock physics; advances in near-surface electromagnetic induction geophysics; and seismic methods in mineral exploration and mine planning. Regular features include GEOPHYSICS LETTERSshort, high-impact, fast-tracked articlesand a section on intellectual property to announce patent information. A discussion section encourages free technical dialogue on previously published articles, and a photo/bio section features the contributors to each issue.

THE LEADING EDGE

library.seg.org/tle/
Covering all aspects of applied geophysics in a style appealing to a broad readership
THE LEADING EDGE is published by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists to complement GEOPHYSICS. TLE is a gateway publication, introducing new geophysical theory, instrumentation, and established practices to scientists in a wide range of geoscience disciplines. Most material is presented in a semitechnical manner that minimizes mathematical theory and emphasizes practical applications. TLE also serves as SEGs publication venue for official society business. TLEs regular features include at least four departments with periodic (usually monthly) articles on key technological areas of geophysics. Acquisition/Processing treats the latest developments in acquiring and processing geophysical data. Interpreters Corner focuses on interpretation of geophysical data, with an emphasis on seismology. The Meter Reader keeps readers abreast of developments in potential-fields geophysics. Business Bottom Line explores commercial aspects of applied geophysics. Each issue of TLE also features a special section devoted to a particular area of technology, especially new techniques that seem likely to have a major impact in the near future on the working routine of most practicing geophysicists. Experts, many of international renown, select articles for these special sections.
