SUMMARY OF THE CASE


THE GIVEN CASE MENTIONED ABOUT THE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF TATA STEEL. IT IS CLEARLY EXPLAINED ABOUT THE INITIATIVE TAKEN BY TATA STEEL TO IMPLEMENT CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. IT TRIES TO IMPLEMENT VARIOUS PROGRAMMES INCLUDING TRAINING COURSES FOR THE MEMBERS TO DEVELOP CSR. TATA STEEL FOCUS MAINLY TO IMPROVE BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER PROFIT PRACTICE. TATA ALSO FOCUS ON PRINCIPLES ON VALUE JUDGEMENT THROUGH WHICH THEY ADOPTED VARIOUS ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURES WHICH HELP TO DEVELOP VARIOUS ISSUES FOR THE FAMILY WELFARE AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT. TATA STEEL ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE GLOBAL BUSINESS TO SPREAD AWARENESS FOR HIV/AIDS. TATA STEEL ALSO ESTABLISHED SEVERAL SOCIAL DEPARTMENTS AND SOCIETIES, ALSO STARTED VARIOUS ORGANISATION TO DEVELOP CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. THEY HAVE TAKEN THREE ORGANIZATIONS WHICH ARE LISTED BELOW : TCS IT IS STARTED IN THE YEAR 1974 IT COVERS NEARLY 56 VILLAGES AND CONDUCTING THREE PROGRAMS AND HAVING 10 BLOCKS AND 16 COMMUNITIES. RDS IT IS STARTED IN THE YEAR 1979 IT IS COVERING NEARLY 700 VILLAGES AND SERVING 700 K PEOPLE WITH THREE PROGRAMS, HAVING 26 BLOCKS AND 19 COMMUNITIES. FIF IT IS STARTED SINCE 16 YEARS BACK IT COVERS ONE TOWN AND SERVES 300 K PEOPLE WITH 14 PROGRAMS, HAVING 2 BLOCK AND 19 COMMUNITIES.

FROM THE ABOVE STATEMENT IT IS QUITE CLEAR THAT RDS IS SERVING MORE PEOPLE AND TCS IS COVERING LESS PEOPLE, THUS TO GET MORE DEVELOPMENT WE ARIVE AT THE FOLLOWING SUGGESTIONS.

SUGGESTIONS
TATA STEEL IS MAINLY ADOPTED TOP DOWN APPROACH WHICH IS QUITE DANGEROUS AS IT MIGHT LACK COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND ALSO THE MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATIONS ARE MAINLY THE PERMANENT STAFF OF THE COMPANY, THUS THERE IS NO MEMBERS SELECTED FROM THE SOCIETY. SO WE SUGGEST THAT COMPANY SHOULD IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM IN BEST POSSIBLE WAY WHICH CAN ONLY POSSIBLE WHEN THE PEOPLE OF THE SOCIETY INVOLVED AND PARTICIPATE IN THE ORGANIZATION TO DEVELOP CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. THE TIME TAKEN TO REPORT THE PRESIDENT BY THE SUPERVISORS IS NEARLY TAKING 6 MONTHS WHICH RESULT IN DELAY IN THE PROCESS OF SERVICE TO THE SOCIETY. THUS SPECIAL CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO REDUCE THIS TIME GAP.

TCS IS LAGGING IN ORGANIZING THE PROGRAMS IN COMPARISON TO RDS AND FIF. THUS TO DEVELOP TCS, MORE PROGRAMS SHOULD BE INTRODUCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRIBAL COMMUNITIES. TSFIF INDOOR ADMISSION ARE GROWING YEAR BY YEAR BUT NUMBER OF BEDS, DISPENSARIES AND FIRST AIDS CENTRES ARE NOT DEVELOPING, THUS WHEN THERE IS INCREASE IN THE INDOOR ADMISSION THE FACILITIES LIKE BEDS, DISPENSARIES AND FIRST AIDS CENTRES SHOULD ALSO INCREASE. TCS SHOULD ALSO INCREASE AND IMPROVE SEVERAL PROGRAMS TO SERVE THE SOCIETY AND ITS PEOPLE IN BEST AND IMPROVED WAY.

CONCLUSION
FROM ALL THE ABOVE EXPLANATIONS WE CAN CONCLUDE THAT RDS AND FIF ARE ORGANIZING MORE PROGRAMS WHICH ARE REALLY EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT, BUT WE STILL FELT THAT IT CAN BE DEVELOP IN MORE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE MANNER IF THEY TRY TO FOCUS ON THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE AND ALLOW ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF THE PEOPLE OF THE SOCIETY TO GET BETTER IDEA ABOUT THE NEED OF THE SOCIETY AND ALSO THEY CAN IMPLEMENT MORE MEMBERS TO TCS AND TO IMPLEMENT MORE AND MORE PROGRAMS TO BRING THE EQUAL GROWTH FOR THE TCS SIMILAR TO THAT OF RDS AND FIF.
