THE INTEGRATED CONCEPT FOR CARBON FREE POWER PURE WATER

Hydrogen, H2, potentially the fuel of the future for our vehicles, promises zero carbon footprint and no pollution. We expand that concept to an integrated approach for producing both power and water. Hydrogen fuel indeed does not pollute. However, energy is expended to produce hydrogen, generated by water electrolysis, reformed from natural gas, PSA (pressure swing adsorption), or other methods. That energy most likely comes from the combustion of petroleum, coal, or natural gas. Environmental and climatological problems are simply moved to another venue, zero CO2 improvement at best. The challenge is to produce hydrogen most efficiently as a system. Hydrogen for vehicle power must meet DOEs specification for a 300 mile driving range. To achieve this goal, a storage tank must be pressurized to 10,000 psi for a reasonable size to fit in the vehicle. Hydrogen should not be limited to use by vehicles to achieve a reduction in greenhouse gases. Hydrogen is ideal as a storage medium for renewable energy a hydrogen battery for renewable power on demand. It can be produced at remote generation sites, preferably from nuclear, wind, solar, or tidal energy as opposed to fossil sources. No greenhouse gases and the hydrogen battery can be shipped anywhere. Key to efficient and cost effective hydrogen fuel is production at a usable pressure. Current technologies for compressing hydrogen are economically inferior. The H2GoFuelTM process minimizes life cycle compression costs. H2GoFuelTM can be compressed to tanks for vehicular use, charged to 10,000 psi at a central location; and distributed for exchange, similar to propane cylinders. H2GoFuelTM can be transported by pipeline, railroad, tanker trucks, and ocean shipping. The process is ideal for pipeline transmission at 3,000 psi and greater. All modes apply existing cost-effective technology to distribute hydrogen gas. Far exceeding its use for powering vehicles, hydrogen fuel, offers the potential to relieve drought. The H2GoFuelTM Process can economically generate high pressure hydrogen at locations near water, which can then be sent to areas suffering from water shortage. At the desired location, the H2GoFuelTM process can produce both power and water from gas turbines, fuel cells, boilers, and reciprocating engines. Countries, such as Ethiopia and Somalia, lacking adequate water supply, can be freed from drought. In the US the parched southwest and California would not run out of water.
