Handicap International is an independent and impartial international Humanitarian organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our action and testimony are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights. Handicap International is present in Pakistan since 2005, in response to the earthquake. From then, Handicap International has implemented firstly emergency activities, leading to a longer term strategy implemented since then. The intervention of Handicap International is therefore declined under three main axes: Conflict response (ongoing since 2009) - KPK Direct response to the basic and specific needs of the vulnerable persons through mobile units: o Provision of essential basic items / NFI mitigating their vulnerability o Provision of specific items with regard to specific needs, including protection items o Establishment of psychosocial support, specifically targeting the vulnerable persons Provision of safe and accessible water and sanitation (WASH) facilities for vulnerable persons with restricted mobility, through modification of the existing facilities and building of new facilities - Child Friendly Inclusive Spaces (Child Protection) Flood response (ongoing since august 2010) - KPK and Sindh - Improve the access of affected population to safe water and sanitation facilities - Shelter construction and repairs - Cash for work to support the repairs/cleaning of drainage system and dewatering/cleaning operations - Disability and Vulnerability approach Development activities - Disaster Risk Reduction project to mainstream the disability during disaster response

Global Objective of the position


To ensure an appropriate response is provided to the most vulnerable persons, Handicap International is initiating a response to support the displaced vulnerable communities, focusing on the needs in Internally Displaced People camps, host communities, spontaneous resettlement areas and return areas.

Handicap International had an integrated project of health and protection, waters and sanitation, and emergency mine risk education. Mine Risk Education refers to educational activities aimed at reducing the risk of injury from mines and unexploded ordnance by raising awareness and promoting behavioral change through public-information campaigns, education and training, and liaison with communities. In Pakistan, Handicap International aims to give people the skills and knowledge to travel, live and work as safely as possible in a contaminated environment. To identify the areas in need for EMRE in DI Khan and Tank a KAP survey will be conducted.

Responsibilities
Direct delivery of Mine Risk Education to IDPs living in camps and host communities. Presentations at large venues such as schools, mosques, distribution centres, health centres, and public meeting places. Distribution of Mine Risk Education materials to the target groups. Data collection on hazardous areas from the community and victims reporting for referral purposes.

Required Profile
Education Masters degree in social science, development or management Bachelor degree in social science, development or management Teaching background (children or adults) Social work background (field based ) Community development work background (field based) Public health education (field based) Any other community service activity that involved direct interaction with communities at field level and the required relevant experience. Languages English Urdu Pashto Experience Proven experience in training of adults and/or children Experience with awareness campaigns Experience with data collection / community mapping

Time Schedule
The working hours are the following: - 9am to 5pm from Monday to Thursday - 9am to 3pm on Friday Note that working time can go up to 48 hours per week (according to the Pakistani labor law) if it is required by the volume of activities and by the line manager.
