The application is also capable of saving or exporting data in several different formats. The application requires to be restarted in order to see the new Servicepacs ann ounced. 2.0 Known Issues ------------------------------If you are not able to view all the text provided on the interesting Lin s, you might need to increase your monitor resolution to view the text. There are some issues related with the SSCT installation v1.35 or newest e.g. the xml4c_5_7.dll file is missing. The li ely best solution for this defect is to perform a clean install, that is, uninstall of SSCT and all its components fr om your system and upon completely uninstalling the application and all its components, we recomend that you then perform a 'Fresh Installing' of the most recent versio n of the SSCT, which should correct the loading errors and abnormal behaivor that are occuring on your machine. Please chec that the SSCT folder was deleted: C:\Program Files\IBM Standalone Solutions Configuration Tool When using File Sharing between Windows 2000 and Windows 7, you could receive an authentication error. The Windows 7 issue can be fixed by following the steps below: On your windows 7 machine, go to Start-> Run > type regedit Go to the path HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa and set the value to 1. After that you will be able to configure the File Sharin g.

The application is designed to support an interactive interface with graphics for determining the price, ideal environment, available rac cabinet space and available resources along with a variety of other operations associated with ordering and configuring a whole solution.

Starting with SSCT version 1.44 IBM will be using a new InstallShield version, to avoid experiencing issues we recommend that you uninstall the previous versio n before proceeding with a new clean installation of version 1.44 (erase the folders that SSCT installation created). Upon completely uninstalling the application and all its components from your sy stem, we recommend that you then perform a 'CLEAN INSTALL' of version 1.44 After November 30th, 2009, SSCT will no longer support Excel 2000. You may exper ience problems when exporting configurations using that version of Excel. It is recomm ended that you upgrade to a more recent version of Excel. An issue has been detected when the user tries to export to excel: if multiple Microsoft Office versions were installed in the system it may be possible to loss the ability to report to excel properly and the application will crash. The print scale setting "Fit print(s) to height/width", is not available in IBM Lotus Symphony 1.x and even when the setting is in the export ods file, it will be set to the default, "Reduce/enlarge printout" to 100%. The OpenOffice suite supports this setting and IBM Lotus Symphony could support it in version 2.0, when its base core code will be updated to match the latest OpenOffice code. On Windows Vista and Windows 7, is necessary to install .NET Framewor 1.1 and f ollow the instructions mentioned in the following lin before installing a new version of SSCT. Please copy the lin into your browser: http://support.microsoft.com/ b/927387 The Windows Vista and Windows 7 issues correspond with 'Scenario 3' on the lin described above and can be fixed by following the steps described in the 'Resolution' section. Please ta e note to follow the directions provided very precisely as it could have serious negative effects in incorrectly editing the registry. When try to Drag a BladeServer installed into a BladeCenter and drop it to Gener al area, the expansion unit related with the BladeServer will delete, please remove first the Expansion Unit and then the BladeServer. When any view was sorted by price, the organization of the product will be alphabetical, the views affected by this problem will be all those where prices are handled. Here is the list of the affected views: Wizard - All tabs Database Window On Windows XP, if you select Start > Control Panel > Accessibility Options > Display > Use High Contrast, the setting defaults to High Contrast Blac (large) . With a 1024 x 768 display setting, this option does not allow you to view all of the visual components in some wizards and editors. Wor around: Clic Settings next to the Use High Contrast chec box and change the high contrast appearance scheme from High Contrast Blac (large) to High Contrast Blac . Excel will no longer automatically close after an export is completed.

However if Excel is launched while an export is being performed, an error will appear. To display Japanese characters for CSV files in MS Excel the MS Office XP Language Settings must set Japanese as the default Microsoft language, and close all instances of MS Excel before opening the CSV file. For a correct display of double-byte languages characters it is recommended to run SSCT on the operating system with the appropriated codepage, as SSCT is not a Unicode application. When SSCT runs in an environment where the language selected is double byte (Japanese, Korean, simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese) but the Operative System language is single byte some GUI Labels may appear as question mar s and the position and display for menu options can be different than in the rest of the languages. In SSCT, the Graphical User Interface is rendered unusable when the display configuration is modified to 'Large Size' (120 DPI). For optimal performance, it is recommended that the user does not have 'Large Size' (120 DPI) as the defined setting within the display. This setting may be toggled via the 'Configuration Panel' by selecting 'Display.' When exporting a quote from SSCT via File --> Export, two different options are supported when exporting to Microsoft Excel (.xls): Quote - Group Format (.xls) and Quote - Server Format (.xls). When exporting a quote from SSCT to an .xls file, the font in the exported output will be reflected based upon the default font defined in Microsoft Excel. For most versions of Microsoft Excel, the font displayed by default is 'Arial.' However, the font displayed by default in an exported quote may vary depending on the version of Microsoft Excel being used and the font settings that have been defined in Microsoft Excel. In order to modify the font displayed by default in Microsoft Excel for the purpose of exporting a quote from SSCT, select 'Options' from the 'Tools' menu within Microsoft Excel. Within the 'Options' dialog window, select the 'General' tab. Within the 'General' tab the 'Standard Font' may be defined along with the corresponding size. Upon defining the 'Standard Font,' all exported quotes will be displayed accordingly, implementing the font defined. Incorporated in SSCT is an update reminder which is designed to notify the end-user when the product being used is out of date and a new version is available for installation. Currently updates are regularly posted on the IBM website where the tool is publicly available. However, although automatic updates will become available to the tool in future releases of SSCT, they are currently unavailable. As such, occasionally a notification will pop-up when launching the tool stating that the product being used is out of date and that an updated version of the tool should be installed. This notification is often incorrect as the pop-up occurs even when the latest version of the tool is installed due to a time lapse which is built-in the application database in order to remind the end-user to update the application within a specified period of time. This notification should be ignored if the latest version of SSCT has been installed, as it will not impede application operation in any way. Standalone Solutions Configuration Tool Version 1.44 supports file sharing, which is a feature that has been implemented in the application in order to simplify the process of installing, updating and running the application version on a shared networ . While wor ing in file sharing mode, the end-user is unable to open a file by double-clic ing. In order to open a configuration from a saved file, the end-user must select 'open' from the 'File' menu. Additionally, while wor ing with a configuration that consists of

multiple rac s in file sharing mode, performance becomes considerably slow when the 'autoconnect' feature is launched in order to realize power connections among the components within each rac . NOTE: If the user is running Windows Server 2003 on an individual wor station and is running SSCT with File Sharing using a non-admin account, the user must be first be added to the Performance Monitor User Group before launching the application. When configuring a server that comes standard with a memory expansion card (e.g. the x260) and, in the Configuration Wizard, that memory expansion card is removed prior to removing the standard memory DIMMS, the configuration will result in an internal error as the Wizard will not automatically remove the memory dimms and those dimms will become therefore invalid. To avoid this configuration error when configuring a server that comes standard with a memory expansion card, first remove the standard memory dimms prior to removing the standard memory expansion card. Proper operation of the removal of standard memory expansion cards will become functional in future releases. While wor ing in Configuration mode of SSCT, if having added a component to a configuration and the 'Quote' tab is active, the end-user may launch the Component Information Window by right-clic ing on the component within the configuration (if it is not already active). However, no information is displayed when the Component Information Window becomes active in this case. Though the Component Information Window will be active, it will be blan . An error has been discovered when a configuration is exported to an .xls document from SSCT when utilizing Microsoft Office that implements Service Pac 3 (SP3) and does not include the 'Post SP3 Hotfix' for Microsoft Excel. This error may be avoided by installing the most recent updates available for Microsoft Office from the following website: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/. When adding components to a server using the Configuration Wizard, options available to those components upon closing the Wizard are often very ambiguous and confusing. Though functionality in this respect is obscure, the Configuration Wizard is wor ing properly. However, an alert message will become available in future releases in order to clarify information regarding the placement of components configured internally using the Configuration Wizard and the options available to those components. 3.0 Release Features -------------------Standalone Solutions Configuration Tool utilizes technology from two previously existing configuration applications: xSCA and Rac Configurator, and merges them; thus condensing and ma ing more effective the entire configuration process. Particularly, the feature that realizes this union is the Wizard tool, which introduces innovative and essentially limitless means for configuring IBM System x and eServer xSeries servers. The following list describes the server families in which Version 1.44 of Standalone Solutions Configuration Tool supports: IBM IBM IBM IBM eServer eServer eServer eServer xSeries xSeries xSeries xSeries 100 (8486) 206 (8482, 8487) 206m (8485, 8490) 226 (8488, 8648)
