peeps this all concerns: This has been a long time coming. Excuse the format, syntax, and overall timber of this document. As is often the case in perpetuation of cause, drenching an audience with inimitable manner and points so prim, leaving no choice but the obvious: an utter disregard to logic and reason, seems to work wonders in a sociological time where the media platforms have conditioned such approach. My name is Bryan McQuay. Im 27 years of age I currently reside in Provo, Utah. I came to know of People Water through relationships, some close, most casual, of some of the great minds you have within your company. This letter will address many close and personal things including my attempts at insurance fraud, my beliefs about God, masturbatory habits, racial slander and many other taboo subjects. I mention this now not as a point to be derived upon completion, but rather to show the ambiguity in names I will reference. As I touch on very personal and meaningful insight, I do not wish to consequently socially incriminate someone. Doing that would be like using someones shit situation to try and propel my own agenda. When I first heard of People Water, the concept was swallowed as smooth as its product and sleek branding. I thought, What a brilliant idea! The theory for a hybrid between free market enterprise and charitable contribution seems to address an amazing solution with what the latter faced as the primary hurdle in development and cause. It was perfect. Such introspect placed behind current trends of companies selling the user on the product serving both functions was something that work, and quick viral media with the aid of ever growing quality in high production cinema at low costs through a DSLR and video editing software it seemed so genius. Funny how often serendipity most always follows ingenuity. Months later, I followed up on a habit of mine. And no, its not masturbating. I love documentaries. Every time someone mentions a good one they saw, or a post on social media, or ones nominated for an Oscar, I write it down on a memo on my phone and, as is the case with this letter, I procrastinate in getting it done. However,

a trip to Vegas offered me 6 hours to hammer out some of the flicks on that list and lead to what neo conservative Christians would call their evangelism: a change of heart. A girl I met through one of your employees is working on her masters in Environmental science and biology. Through limited conversation with her, I discovered she works with an emphasis in marine biology. Somehow she came across a documentary about the causes of bottled water to that specific field and she felt inclined to give her two cents and the trailer to the film as a post on Facebook. This is how it ended up on my list. Somewhere between Beaver, Utah and Las Vegas, the reality began to set in and a new course I would travel for the next 3 weeks of intense research and correspondence began to take shape. The insight of which is reflected, in compressed manner, in this very document. If youre one who hates seeing the truth, close this tab/window on your browser, go back to work/life/Facebook/etc., yell Fuck you, you conceded communist next time you see me at what ever function we cross paths at, and enjoy life. If you marvel at a popular TV show that has the balls to address a situation like a corporation playing Trogan Horse as a non profit, exploiting a continents problem of a criminal warlord as they raise money they spend but a fraction on its message, and find only comical justice in the fact that this dude was spanking it on the street corner and reveling his suppressed homosexual being and physiological trauma then read on All cleaver diction aside, the business model for which People Water openly expresses on its bottles, through its branding, and by way of the people behind the project, is a complete, an utterly deceitful lie. It is a marketing gimmick utilized at a time in which people have become apt to feeling good about getting but a small view on a large subject of such shitty proportions, so we can go about our day feeling like we made a change. Having come into contact with many of the peeps behind your company, I wish to defend them by addressing that such motion and intent was founded under the same guise as the ridicule placed before them with products and promotion they had been duped on prior. I honestly believe that it was not out of intent to take something as complex as the world hydro production and resource management and use this to exploit the problem. I believe, much like their products message, narrowing down the gravity of the situation is a simple lack of research and factual understanding.

In a recent article, a prominent member of your company was quoted saying, Ive always wanted to help. I wanted to create a company with a charitable arm that was fully sustainable. I didnt want to start a charity that asked people to donate money or really change anything they were doing. When people buy People Water, yes, we make money and it fuels our business but it also fuels and makes our charity efforts possible. This way as long as People Water is selling water we will always be able to help those who live without clean water. The quote begins with something I know to be absolute truth. I have met this person on several occasion and had the opportunity to observe, in some form or another, the honest and sincere desire to help others. I have heard things from this persons mouth that have humbled me about my own life and feelings towards my family. This person does have an honest desire to help people. I respect them greatly for that. As the quote goes on, progressively the aforementioned becomes prevalent. The design is far form fully sustainable. I have been in contact with the World Water Council, they are the leading group of advisory input to the UN on the subject of hydro resource management. Every document, statement, presentation, and insight given on the subject, strongly no rather, fiercely advocates the abolishment of any privatized entity that promotes the commoditization of this natural resource, the largest proprietor of which is bottled water. Perhaps the definition of fully sustainable was taken out of context. The model you currently claim as doing such is actually counter intuitive to the cause and consequently fuels the new revolution as clear becomes the new black and simple economics of supply and demand exemplify themselves in a time where we need be exercising immense caution so that this problem doesnt get worse. The next two statements go along the lines of an attempted merge of free market and charitable cause. Like the hornet colored collage of oil and vinegar, these two bodies of monetary resolve can rarely effectively mix in unison to a common goal. And though the attempt at using the privatization of water as an industry to construct such a model seems like a soluble one, it couldnt be farther from the case. The last sentence sums up the lack of knowledge. And here is the truth plainly: Ever bottle of your product that is produced requires the use of hydrocarbon on ever stage of development from extraction, to packaging, to delivery, to consumption, and disposal. This method uses anywhere from 300 to 500 times the amount of water it should take to get clean water to the mouth of any human being dying of thirst on the planet. Put that on a T-Shirt.

As long as People Water is selling bottled water, the truth is you are making it more difficult for children in Nicaragua to access clean water. The World Water Council has found the singular approach to a sustainable distribution of the world water supply. They have broken it down since 1996, when the world water crisis took public stage. Nothing about your product is helping that cause. That might be hard to understand at first. As is often the case with anthropologically issues, the idea is that you muster up a short and emotional message. It comes in the form of smiling children getting water from the monetary donations made to a charity, you capture it on film, and is the case with a lot of you there, you experience it first hand. Your eyes see the joy and then pass this message on to your heart. If this message becomes lengthy or logically, you would have to pass it to your mind, and then of course the effect isnt the same. This is the constant battle that marketing faces with science. Its a fine line and if you tune it right, you live a lot happier life in every facet. For me, its always been battle. I worked in industry where we blatantly lied about our product: a coaching program for people trying to start their own business from home. They would buy material anywhere from $1.00 up to $300.00 of the Internet or TV infomercial and by consequence, became a lead on my desk. We called them up, hard sold them for $15,000.00 dollars on their credit card on the emotion that their life sucks and would be better, and then they got 6 to 20 weeks of coaching that to this day, I still have no fucking clue what it was about. Needless to say, Im no longer there. My 5 years there were spent in justification because the money was so good, I worked with good friends, and everyone has to find their place in the rat race. I now work for local alarm company who, funny enough, has been under some scrutiny since its genesis 14 years ago. Most of it comes from its tactics rather than the product itself, but I bring up my employment history to address emotional intent. The alarm company has its charitable arm, which donate close to 2 million dollars a year to different groups. And having studied business with an emphasis in psychology, I get it such approach is designed to fuel public relations and identity. And though I have my beef with that beast, thats another letter. This idea does, however, show in compression, the importance of giving back of where much has been given. People praise this shit and it eat up. We love it. It reminds us in a world where we enjoy the fruitful life of abundance and higher quality of living at the cost of others not, that we care. And heres where that fine line comes in. Its one thing to give. Its another to claim it as a business model. The alarm company doesnt advertise, For ever system you buy, we educate a criminal to insure that one less house is at risk.

Fortune is no doubt in you favor. Water is being called blue gold. I havent had a chance to talk to your investor to find out if that was the reason why he decided to put money into this idea. Im sure it was profit margins amongst other things; Im hesitant to think it was for the betterment of the world water crisis, thats for sure. Regardless, waters a big-ticket industry. Most of the profit we will see derive from this short sighted gold rush will come from social atrocities equal in magnitude as the sickness which is the bottled water industry, as corporations privatize 3rd world countries municipal infrastructures. Their only hope is to follow our Bolivian warriors in the example they set: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTKn17uZRAE Bottled water is the primary cause in convincing the world that selling a resource which is, by definition of most sociologically comprised documents and not my own theologically opinion, a God given right, something we should allow. If you truly wish to create a sustainable and charitable arm, then produce a product which cannot be tampered with. It is not confined to limitations or money or advertising. It is not controlled or measured by gain or greed Give the people knowledge. Give them the truth so they may protect that which is so greatly needed. Make shirts that say, Keep your hands off my fucking water!!! With a sense of compassion and sympathy, I know what its like. Growing up in a community where your status is cross-measured by the size of your house. Where how cool and valuable you are to society comes by means of how attractive the girl or guy you have, having the sick car, and your ability to consume and not care about the stress is gauged accomplishment. You have families that need to be fed. You have a dream home you wish to build. You have creative energy in you so strong you cant go work for someone else; youre the kind of person who does things for yourself. If thats the case, and you really feel a need to express a charitable resolve to the world water crisis, allow me to offer an actual feasible means to self sustainability: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqg1Hu0PMG0 I have many faults myself. Most of which I justify with excuses. My relationship with my parents is pretty shitty. Its something I have been spending time on developing and trying to rebuild after our extreme differences about God and life. I committed insurance fraud that I justified with my own reasons. Ive put people close to me through situations they should have never had to deal with and now have emotional scars because of my selfish choices. Im in no position to preach.

I have heard while be around many members of your companies, several hurtful and racial remarks in regards to the very people you claim you were trying to help. Your posts on social media forms at movie premiers and your attempts to rep your cool vibe with celebrities riding a bus and action sports figures who have no idea about what they really mean by stating their name and saying I support People Water, is a hypocritical attempt to get the masses on board. It looks like its working. I beg and plead with you for the sake of the planets future, stop. Plus, most of us see through that bullshit and know its just subliminal insecurities since adolescence surfacing in the form of thinking its cool. Come on now. This marketing and approach has to stop. It will stop. I will carry in my car, copies of this letter along with links and resources so if I happen to come across a business you have set up they can at least see and learn the truth behind this product. In addition, I have been working on obtaining clinical study of the quality of your water. Though I am unaware of how or where you obtain your water, giving the price per bottle and knowledge of hear-say that it is gather here in Utah, it most likey comes from one of Nestls many resources they have exploited in our state. I think the public deserves to know just how clean that water really is, if it is spring water, and if not, how getting the water out of our sinks, running it through a filter, bottling it, and making it up 3000%, is something we wont stand for. I wish you all well and hope friends realize how much I put on the line by writing this letter and making it public. Im sure most of you will hold resentment towards me and will perhaps make you uncomfortable around me or circle negative gossip about me. Oh by the way, the gay rumor ran its mill and hey, it worked I still get shit for that at least once a month. Just know that Im a pretty conversational guy. I try to be level headed and respectful to everyone. I think you guys are all pretty bad ass. I hope you take this letter into account and hope it finds a new resolve for change. For a list of resources, feel free to contact me. Much love, Bryan McQuay PS: Keep you hands off my fucking water.
