Ancient Greek Boxing Rules

Grappling, kicking, biting & attacking the genitals are fouls. Any type of blow with the hand is allowed but no gouging with the fingers. Boxers can be struck while down. No ring is used. There are no weight-classes. There are no rounds or time limits. If both contestants agree, the referee can allow them time to regain strength. Fighters can opt to exchange blows undefended if the fight lasts too long. Victory is decided when one fighter gives up or is incapacitated.

The currently accepted rules of ancient Greek boxing are based on historical references and images. Because of the few intact sources and references to the sport, the rules can only be inferred.
