mc-24 PROFI-ROM
New Measures in High-End-RC-Technology
Update to PROFI-ROM mc-24 Part.-Nr. 4831.660 German Part.-Nr. 4831.670 English Part.-Nr. 4831.680 Italian Part.-Nr. 4831.690 French The new PROFI-ROM is a milestone in RCtechnology and the result of intensive teamwork. The new program version was developed by the GRAUPNER-Software-Developing-Team in un paralleled teamwork with Profi and Contest-Pilots in all aspects of model flight, including top ranking pilots world wide. It was only possible with the intensive co-operation of all team members and the extensive test program for the new High-End-Software during national and international contests in all categories over a two year period to develop and extend the already worldwide successfull Radio Control System mc-24 as a bench mark. This handbook explains in detail the multitude of new functions resulting from the extended new Software. Some of the functions in the previous MEGA-SOFT-ROM have also been extended. All changes from the MEGA-SOFT-ROM to the new PROFI-ROM are compiled in a table overview in order of code numbers on pages 6 11. The table contains three parts: Control-comfort and Control-safety Extended functions New functions On pages 4-5 you find the necessary explanation for the Control-comfort and Control-safety issues. Insignificant changes to extended functions did not need to be explained. From page 12 the new functions are explained in detail. Please note the especially simplified programming procedure for code 51 Phaseadjustments, code 52 Phase-assignment The two programming examples with emphasis on the flight-phases will convince you of the simple use and outstanding advantages of the new programming sequence. We hope you enjoy the new soft-ware kit. GRAUPNER-Team Kirchheim-Teck, Mai 2002 as well as the totally new structured and simplified menu in code 71 Wing-mixer which now also allows the programming with 6 wing servos. The mc-24 PROFI-ROM automatically recognises the presence of a Multi-Voice-Audio-RecordingModule (Part.-Nr. 4130) and selects the necessary menus for activation.

Copy/Erase Store changes permanently: Stores all changes you last made in any model memory. The automatic saving will only work when changing model memory and no longer works when the transmitter is switched to OFF ! Undo changes: Programming changes can be undone. This will set the program data back to where it was at the last model memory change or when you last stored changes permanently. Back up all models PC: Transfers automatically all model memories to a PC in conjunction with the mc24 Win program. Note: A graphic symbol is generated in the model index for better clarity. The icons for fixed wing or heli type will appear. Info: You can add a 15 character long supplementary information in each model memory which will be displayed next to the model name for example in Code 11 Model select. Auto timer reset: YES/NO will determine if all timers (except model and batt. Time) are going to be reset to the appropriate start value during transmitter switch on. Switch ON warning:Enables through a free selected switch position a warning indication on the default display when the transmitter is switched on (AUX-, Control-, or logic Switch) Tail type Number of servos 2 EL Sv 3+8 Automatic coupling of 2 Elevator servos connected to channel 3 + 8. Fl. wing The newly structured menu 71 Wing mixer now allows also the programming of Duck-, Tandem- and Jet models with dual rudder and dual elevator and aileron function. Please note the adjustment procedures! Ail./Flap. For the operation of 6 Wing servos. Normal receiver connections are: Aileron (AIL, tip) to 2+5, 2 AIL 4 FL 1. pair of flaps (FL, middle) to 6+7, 2. pair of flaps (FL2, inside) to 9+10. FL (middle)+FL2 (inside) are normally connected via control slider to CH6 . For more information on adjustments and aileron mixing see Code 71 Wing mixer. Brake: We understand in the name Brake all types of aerodynamic means to reduce the flying speed. You can select channel 1, 7, 8 or 9 for the activation of the braking function. You can change the neutral point of the relevant contoller with the Offset function. All other adjustments for the Brake can be done in menu 71Wing mixer. Entering YES inhibits unwanted side effects like pitch-change when activating a roll command or tensions between the control rods while utilising 4 servos on the swash plate.

Throttle warning-limit: The warning threshold for Throttle too high after transmitter switch-on can be adjusted from 100% to 0% with reference to the selected pitch-minimum direction. The default value (CLEAR) = -70%. Input 5...12: You can now nominate for any input for ch 5 to ch 12 the CH 1 controller, the CH 1 trim lever (operates like a linear slider) or 2 switches for a total of 3 functions. The control neutral can be adjusted from 125% to +125%. 2 Auxiliary and/ or control switches can now be coupled to a AND or OR logic function. A total of 8 logical switches can be generated: AND-function: The logical switch is only closed when both selected switches are closed. OR - function: The logical switch is already closed when at least one of the selected switches is closed. Trim switch: Apart from the trim switches in roll, pitch and tail for Heli models, trim switches for Aileron,Elevator and Rudder are now available in mixers for fixed wing models. They can be de-activated with the Global switch. The increment value is dependant on the 12 step selection of trim reduction in Code 31 Control adjust. INC (+), DEC (-): In addition of the rotary selector for adjustments of trim values during flight, adjustments can now also be made with the 2 new switches. A total of 8 flight phases can be nominated and programmed in each model memory. The list of phase names can be extended to 10 individual names in Code 91 Basic settings. The relevant switches for the flight phases have to be nominated in the new Code 52 Phase assignment. Explanation of symbols in the right column: Identifies the phase to the relevant switch position. (normally phase 1 if no other switches have been allocated or all phase switches are in their normal position). + For the relevant phase is (in Code 52) a switch position is planned. Phase vacant. Name : Apart from the normal names, new phase names can be created in Code 91 Basic settings. Fl.ph.Tim: The function of the lap-timer is extended to: Time 1: timing only with the relevant switch in the ON position, (i.e. only the e-motor-run) Time 2: memorises the time in which the switch is in the ON and the OFF position (i.e. motor-run and gliding time). Sw. Tim: In the new Code 58 Non-delayed-channel the time delay for individual channel may be switched off.

Phase settings (previously: Phase assignment) Apart from the phase Autorotation - 7 other free selectable phase names can be programmed. The switch for Autorotationis selected in Code 49 Auxiliary switch all other phase switches in the new code Code 52 Phase assignment. Explanation of symbols in the right column: Identifies the phase to the relevant switch position. (normally phase 1if no other switches have been allocated or all phase switches are in their normal position). + For the relevant phase is in Code 52 a switch position planned. Phase vacant. Apart from the normal names - new phase names are available which can be created in Code 91 Basic settings. Fl. ph.Tim: The function of the lap-timer is extended to: Tim 1: timing only with the relevant switch in the ON position (i.e. only the hover-time) Tim 2: memorises the time in which the ON and OFF position (i.e hover and acro time). Sw. time: In the new Code 58 Non-delayed-chan can the time delay for individual chan. be switched off . To all free selectable combinations of max. 6 Switches A to F one of the 8 available in Code 51 Phase settings created phase names can be allocated. With all switches in their normal position or not used switch combinations the default is always Phase 1. The under A and B selected switches always have priority: Switch A in ON-position The selected flight phase has priority over all other flight phases (= flight phases under switch locations B to F). Switch B in ON-position The allocated flight phase has priority over the flight phases under switch locations C to F but excluding any flight phases nominated under locationA! Attention: On Heli-Models the Autorotation-phase has absolute priority over all other selected phases under location A - F! New for fixed wing models: Function now the same as for Heli-Models. With rotary selector, trim-lever or digital trim switch (Code 49 Auxiliary switch) can the trim values for aileron, elevator and rudder be adjusted in every phase. The flap trim is now included in Code 71 Wing mixers. (see note for Code 53 in section Extended Functions.) The delay time during change of flight phase for individual channels can now be inhibited for selected flight phases. Example: motor OFF with electric models, Head-Lock for gyro-systems. Name :

Wing mixers The newly constructed and easy to navigate wing mixer menu now allows the control of 6 wing servos. Which of the functions are accessible depends on the selected model-type in Code 22. Multi-flap-menu: flight phase dependant adjustments of mixer functions for ailerons and the two pairs of flaps (FL = middle flap-pair and FL2 = inner flap-pair). AI : You adjust here the response of the ailerons (Ail) and flap pairs (FL, FL2) in relation to the aileron control stick. Ail-tr : Here is the response of aileron trim adjusted to the selected pair of flaps. The magnitude of response to the aileron trim lever is the sum of adjustments made in phase trim (Code 53) global trim (Code 81). Diff.: Differential adjustments for all 3 pairs of wing servos. Fl.pos.: Flight phase dependant adjustments for all 3 wing servo pairs (previously in Code 52). FL : Here you adjust the control response for AiL,FL and FL 2 for the camber-flap controller (normally : control 6). El->Fl : Linear mixer for flap movement when elevator is activated ( mostly used asymmetric). Brake settings : All Brake settings no longer are adjusted flight phase dependant. Select in Code 22 Model type for activation of the brake function, the input 1, 7, 8 or 9. In Code 32 a flight phase dependant controller can be selected for the inputt 7 and 8 . With the Offset you select the direction of control (front to back). Recommendation: program the Offset to approx. 90%. The control travel between offset and end-stop has no longer any effect. Crow : Brake dependant positioning of the servo pairs for AiL,FL and FL 2. Diff. Reduct.: Differential values made in the multi-flap-menu can be reduced here in relation to the brake control stick position. To be able to compensate for a mechanical induced differential inverse differential effects are started when the value of diff. reduction is higher then the value set in the multi-flap-menu. Elevat. Curve : 8-point curve mixer for the adjustment of pitch attitude during activation of the brake function. Aileron 2->4 rudder : Switch selectable mixer for the amount of rudder deviation to aileron control deviation. Flaps 6->3 elevator : Switch selectable mixer for the amount of elevator deviation with flap activation. (mostly used asymetric)

All data is saved by activation of Store changes permanently or by changing the model memory in Code 11 Model select. Data is no longer automatically saved when the transmitter is switchedOFF. When switching the transmitter OFF last changes will not be lost but as they are not saved in the memory the undo function will jump to the memory of the state when you last saved any changes.
Back-up all models PC:

The changes do not only consist in the three new entries: Store changes permanently, Undo changes and Back-up all models -> PC. If you copy between two transmitters the type of ROM used has to be taken into account.

For this reason please note the following: Before you use a model with transfered program data you must check in detail all functions especially the mixing functions and switches in use! Sequence of connecting Before you switch the transmitter(s)ON, first establish the connection to the PC or other transmitter using the interface cable. The reverse order has to be used after the data has been copied i.e. transmitter(s) OFF before disconnecting!

When data is copied the following is to be noted: Transmitters are compatible if both are fitted with the MEGA-SOFT-ROM (Part.-Nr. 4832.660 or AUDIOSOFT-ROM as with multi-voice-audio-recordingmodules (Part.-Nr. 4130) and transmitters with the new mc-24 PROFI-ROM (Part.-Nr. 4831.660).

Hint: There are some models where the rudder function is only controlled with the wing Spoiler. These models are flown without the use of a normal rudder. In this case a differential of 100% has to be selected so that only one spoiler is activated while the other remains concealed. Without mixing, the servos connected to the two outputs (9+10) will run jitter free. Code 85 Receiver output swap must be programmed as follows:

PCM-Empfnger

Due to the compression of data information in the transmitter in PCM- and SPCM mode, is it possible for servos connected to receiver outputs 9 and/or 10 to run with some jitter. (see also mc-24/1-operating instructions Page 91.) This effect is especially noticable on 6 wing servo models when the two servos are to be controlled with the aileron control stick( selectable in Code 71 Wing mixers). For this reason we recommend to connect the inner camber flap servos (9+10) to the receiver outputs 1+8:

switch for this. Control stick switches with Part.-Nr. 4143 or 4113, can be use for this.) How can aileron and camber flap pairs be controlled ? 1. Basic setting: The aileron control stick moves only the two aileron servos 2+5. (Via controller to input 5 could both ailerons also be moved as camber flap) A controller or linear slider selected in Code 32 Control adjust moves the 4 remaining servos simultaneously as camber flaps. A controller on input 7 is de-coupled in the software to avoid control errors. (With a controller on input 9 the flap servos on output 9+10 could be seperately controlled as camber flaps. But the input is not used in the manufacturers default setting and would hardly ever find a use). A controller oninput 10 is for safety reasons also de-coupled in the software. Hints: In the new Code 53 Phase trim you can trim flight phase dependant the aileron, rudder and elevator but further more in the newly constructed menu Code 71 Wing mixers the camber flap position for all wing servo pairs (Ail, FL and FL2) The camber flap functions for all wing servo pairs(Ail, FL and FL2) can also be controlled with the throttle/Brake control stick if not already used for other brake functions, see Code 71 Wing mixers (page 30). To do so you have to select in Code3 2Control adjust controller 1 for input 6. (If you rather use a switch for the position of camber flap, we recommend a 2 or 3 position 2. Control for both camber flap pairs as ailerons by the aileron control stick This would have to be the most common combination. The new PROFI-ROM allows very simple and easy to use combinations in Code 71 Wing mixers for all wing servos. Read further about it from page 29. 3. Control of ailerons as camber flaps on input 6 (i.e. Linear slider) The programming for this is done in no time at all without the use of additional free mixers. Read further about it from page29. Brake: This function would be of interest for gliders and Emodels but is also useful for models with combustion engines incorporating flaps for landing.

The neutral offset can be moved to any position: Just move the controller on inputs 1, 7, 8 or 9 in the desired position at which the landing flaps should be in neutral and set the Offset point by pressing the STO key:

100% 90%

If the offset is not selected right at the end of the controlling element, so is the remaining control travel to the mechanical stop without any effect dead-band in any mixer function under Brake settings in Code 71 Wing mixers. The deadband ensures the landing flaps to remain in neutral position if the controller is not exactly at its end position. At the same time is the remaining controller movement expanded to 100%.

The in the Code 71 Wing mixers under Brake settings (page 30) explained mixer functions can be activated with controller 1 on input 1 (Brake/Throttle) control stick or a slider control or AUX switch selected to input 7, 8 or 9 (see Code 32 Control adjust) . All adjustments are made with the rotary control knob. In most instances remains the input 1 control selection with the Brake/Throttle control stick. The use of inputs 7, 8 oder 9 makes it possible to activate the brake via control slider if the CH-1 stick is used otherwise. Apart from that are the inputs 7 and 8 included in the flight phase dependant switching of control elements in Code 32 Control adjust which allows a flight phase dependant deactivation of the brake function. See also programming examples on pages 34-36.

Hint: The servo for the activation of air-brakes is preferably connected to the receiver servo output controlled by the brake input channel i.e. air-brake servo to the (free) receiver output 8 if you selected input 8 for Brake. A second air-brake servo can easily be coupled with a dual mixer function to the brake controller.

This menu has now two further options: Linearisation of the swash plate control and Throttle warning limit.
Linearisation of the swash plate: Enter Yes inhibits unwanted side effects in the control of the swash plate i.e. pitch change when roll is activated or tensions on the controlling push rods of the swash plate servos. They can develop when the relevant servos because of a difference in servo arm position have a non-equal linear movement. Throttle warning limit: You will be alerted with an audible Gas warning and pop-up window when zu the throttle is set to high as the hoch! transmitter is switched to ON.

With the Throttle warning limit You can adjust the critical throttle servo high position from which the warning should occur between 0% to 100%. The reference is her the pitch minimum position of the control stick foreward or rearward used. Normally a control throw value of -70 % is used. CLEAR resets the indication to that value.

The logical switch is already OR-function: closed when at least one of the two individual switches is closed. In the example display above the difference between the AND- and - OR combinations is clearly visable in lines 2 and 3. To be able to use the logical switches, the list of switches has been extended in the menus were the swiches can be used:

With this new function two auxiliary- and/or control switches can logically be coupled in a AND- or OR function. A total of 8 logical switches L1...L8 can be programmed. The result of the logic switch function right colomn can be used as a further switch function. The selection of switches to be coupled as logical switch is done in the usual manner with the two switch symbols . Possible uses:
Several functions with normally independant switching shall be moved to a default position with the activation of an emergency switch. The program automatic (Code 49+54) is to be activated by several switches which at the same time also select the program. Some functions shall only be activated if a certain other function is in use i.e. the wheel brake shall only work if the gear is selected down etc. Selection of circumstances for the activation of a switch-ON warning, see Code 21, page 13.

Note to inverted switches: With inverted switches is the switch function reversed i.e. if a certain switch in the : ON position is to activate a mixer function, than will with the same switch exactly when switched OFF cause the inverted switch to switch-ON. The use for this is when the same switch has to switch one function on and another function off and vice versa.

Hint: If you include the trim during programming of free mixers is the digital trim naturally also in the relevant mixer output active. INC (+) and DEC (-): The change of parameter values during flight with the rotary control can be difficult as you have to move your hand away from the control stick. All arameter values, Servo adjustments or the change of pages in the menus which you would normally do oder with the rotary selector, can now be done with the switches. With every activation of the switch is the value either increased (INC) or decreased (DEC).

The flight phase switches are now found in the new Code 52 Phase assignment. A new addition in this Code are the trim-switches. The trim can be adjusted for the relevant function with a switch or key command. Both switches INC (+) and DEC (-) will work parallel with the rotary control.
Trim switches: As an alternative for the trim levers of aileron, elevator and rudder, digital trim is possible with this function. Preferably you install for each function a 2 position momentary switch Part-Nr. 4160.44. The switches for aileron and rudder should be installed in the transmitter with the functional direction the same as the gimbal sticks (left to right).

The trim increment size for ROLL, PITCH and TAIL is automatically reduced with the trim reduction in (Code 31). Both new switches the INC (+) and DEC (-) will work parallel to the rotary selector. The former flight phase switches except for the autorotation phase are now contained in the new menu (Code 52) see further below.
Trim switches: New in the heli-program is the automatic increment change for the trim switches in relation to the in Code 31 Stick mode selected trim reduction. In 12 steps can here the trim be reduced from 1% increments at 100% trin reduction to 0.25% increments for trim reductions below 25%.

Preferably you nominate to each of the INC and DEC command one switching direction of a 2 position momentary switch(Part-Nr. 4160.44) or a 3-function-gimbal stick switch (Part-Nr. 4143).

The actual trim increment size for aileron elevator and rudder depends on the in Code 31 Stick mode selected trim reduction (12 steps) . The trim reduction automatically reduces the trim increments from 1% increment for 100% trim reduction to approx.0.25% trim for trim reduction below 25%.

The trim adjustment is memorised and indicated in the flight phase dependant Code 53 Phase trim.

Flight Phase Program What is new?

INC (+) and DEC (-): The two new switches make it possible to change the values of parameters without the need to take your hands away from the control sticks. All servo or mixer adjustments for which normally only the oder rotary selector is used can now be done by switch activation:

The flight phase menus Code 52 and Code 53 have been totally reconstructed. As a result the programming is now much simplified. The advantage of flight phases are obvious: Often calling certain sections of flight for various flap settings by fixed wing aircraft or pitch and throttle settings in helicopters ( i.e. start phase, landing, hover, autorotation etc ). The flight phase programming makes it possible to recall such pre sets with the use of auxiliary or logic switches. Of great advantage are the flight phases also during test flights. The application of different adjustments via switch during flight can help to find the best model set up a lot faster.
The basic programming is done in three steps: First of all you have to create the flight phases. That means you just give each phase a name which is then for example shown in the default display. In order to avoid drastic control movements during phase change the reaction of the model can be smoothed by application of a time delay for the change over between phases.

The next step sets the required phase switches in Code 52 Phase assignment.

In each model memory offers the mc-24 PROFIROM the possibility of up to 8 independant adjustments for different flight circumstances normaly called flight phases. Begin the programming for flight phases here in Code 51 by allocating a name and maybe a timer and delay time for change to the phase. Next step is to select the neccessary Phase switches in the new Code 52 Phase assignment If a switch is already been allocated for any of the phases 1-8 you will see it indicated in the right column:
Symbol + Discription No switch planned Phase recall via switch Marks the phase number allocated to the switch position

You can, apart from using the normal phase names also create your own names in Code 91 Basic settings ( see further below ). The sequence of phases 1 to 8 is not critical and does not have to be continuos. But you begin always with phase 1 the normal phase which is always active when
in Code 52 no phase switch is set no switch combinations exist all phase switches are in default position.

The page display mc-24/1 is relative only to the MEGA-SOFT-ROM hand book.
Code 51 was changed from Phase assignment to Phase adjust. The old Code 52 Phase trim has now the number 53 in the PROFI-ROM and changed functions. (Please note the details and change in page 26).

The phase name normal could therefore be logical for phase 1. The names are program neutral and serve as identification only for the further programming of flight phases and hence they are displayed in all flight phase dependant menus and in the default display. A list of flight phase dependant menus is shown further above.

All other menus are model dependant and not programmable for each flight phase. Changes in all other menus will affect all flight phases. If neseccary you can remove menus which can not be changed in Code 13 Suppress codes during programming of the flight phases in the multi function list.

Hint: Of help during programming of the various flight phases is the command Copy flight phase in Code 12 copy/erase. First all parameters for a flight phase are established and than copied into the next flight phase where they can be modified to suit the new flying mode.

In Code Phase assignment you select in our example for the phase switches C und D, a switch: First press the key under switch symbol C and toggle the relevant switch here 2 in one direction and back to the middle.

The phase switch A has priority to all following switches B to F The phase switch B has priority over phase swtches C to F.

Now you select for the opposite switch position (3) the phase name landing.

If you followed our example the configuration for the 3 switch positions is :

You use switch A and/or B only than, if you need to change from any other flight phase directly into the phase allocated for this switch.

Now do the same with the key under switch symbol D but toggle the switch in the other direction and back.

This menu was created on special request of pilots engaged in aerobatics and aero tow . The only common item with the Code 52 standard-ROM is its name! Was in the standard version under item phase trim the flight phase dependant positioning of aileron and camber flap in the same direction adjusted - (Camber flap adjustments now in the new multi flap menu Code 71Wing mixers, page 28) - is here now same as in the helicopter menu the phase dependant trim on fixed wing models for all three axis possible. Code 53 allows the flight phase dependant trim of aileron, elevator and rudder. Adjustments are made:
With the rotary selector (1), With trim levers (2) or With digital trim (3), if in Code 49 Auxiliary switch the relevant trim switches have been selected, see page 20.

1. Trim with rotary selector Select the desired flight phase. In the line marked by a star you dial in the required trim values for AIL , EL , or RUD after pressing the key under each symbol. (You can also use the two switches INC(+) and DEC(-) from Code 49 Auxiliary switch). The trim range is from -125% to +125%. (CLEAR = 0%). 2. Trimming with trim levers To find the trim values during flight you can also use the trim levers on the relevant control sticks for aileron, elevator and rudder. The storing of the trim lever position is also possible in the active flight phase:

It is of no consequence if you have more phase names than switch positions. You can add switches at any time and also add further phase names and allocate further switches at any time.
Important notice: All modell adjustments made prior to the selection of a phase switch are now contained in - Phase 1 < normal> (= switch middle). That also had the effect that all model settings in flight dependant menus for all other flight phases are in default settings.

Adjust the trim levers Trim. 2...4 (2 = AILE, 3 = ELEV, 4 = RUDD) during flight. The actual positions are indicated in the right column of the display. To store the values just press the STO-key and a window opens in the display:

The above display indication is in relation to the in Code 51 Phase adjustment described example. The active flight phase selected with the phase switches is displayed in the lower left.

Return the trim levers now to their mechanical centre and press ENTER. In this moment the trim values are saved into the active flight phase and the trim values in the right column return to the centre position (AILE = 0%,ELEV = 0%, RUDD = 0%):

(1% bei 100% Tr. red. ... aprox. 0,25% by smaller 25% Tr. red.). The storing of the actual trim lever positions is no longer neseccary. Of advantage is the digital trim function especially during flight where the adjustment of trim values can be undertaken in every flight phase seperately.
Note:

The contents of the mc-24/1 hand book page 68 is still valid.

Now you can also adjust the stored values for AILE, ELEV and RUDD with the rotary control, as described under (1). If you adjust the trim with the trim levers at a later stage again the new values will be added to the existing values with the STORE and ENTER command. Example: The new trim positions for controlls 2,3 and 4 are: 2 (AILE) = -8%, 3 (ELEV) = +2%, 4 (RUDD) = -3%, after storing the new values will be:
normal Strecke Landung -12% 0% 0% + 2% 0% 0% +2% Trim. Pos 0% 2 0% 0% 3 0% 4 0% SR STO

As the activation of a trim switch will change the trim value, we recommend the installation of a Global trim switch (Part-Nr 4147.1)in the centre console of the transmitter by which all trim switches can be de-activated. The switch selection is to be done in Code 49. The in Code 81 Trim memory saved trim lever positions are active in all flight phases and are independant of the adjustments made in th the Phase trim menu.

Important note: You must ensure with QR und WK functions that the control sufaces and servos not to run out of travel and stall. To avoid this situation you had best limit their travel in (Code 23 Servo adjust)

(Note: The sub menu Brake adjust, see next column, is also for the adjustment of the brake function (Butterfly) on Delta-/Fl.wing-models suitable. The tuning of control deviation for the Aile, Flap and Flap2 pairs is very difficult as the moments created by each pair has to be compensated for by the other pair , for example the up- effect from elevated ailerons is to be compensated by the down- effect of the flaps).

Butterfly: The following 3 mixing functions brake AILE, FLAP and FLAP2 are controlled with the in line Brake Code 22 Model type selected controler on input 1,7,8 or 9. Notice: Select in Code 22 Model type also the offset and direction of control. Select the offset to about +90% at the top end of the controller for channel 1. The top 10% are now without any effect while the control stick has to be moved back to get the desired brake function.

Note to the operation of delta/fl.wing models with ailerons and flap Included are models with two elevators and two rudder (Duck", Tandem and Jet) see Code 22 Model type, page 13. Note the adjustment procedure on page 14 in section 1. PPM-receiver. The pre selection for these models is identical as for models of the type normal with the following consequence for elevators and the ailerons: In the basic programming of models with aileron and camber flap the ailerons will not directly move with activation of the elevator control stick. You have to select this function first in the line EL->FL in the multi flap menu. Please take note of the sense of direction on the elevator.

With the keys AILE , FLAP and FLAP2 you adjust now to which amount the control surface pairs will be moved when the brake controller (CH1, 7,8 or 9) is moved back. (If the model is not equipped with air-brakes just leave the relevant receiver output free).

Diff.-reduct.: In the prior described multi- flap menu can a differential control be selected for the three pairs of FLAP. Especially with extreme CROW positions can the effect of the ailerons be deminished (see mc-24/1-hand book, page 77). Here is now the possibility to reduce the amount of differential with increase of brake function. The Diff.-red. Will also work on the ailerons if the model has no flaps.

If the differential reduction value is higher than the differential value, the new mc-24 PROFI-ROM-Software works a little different. To be able to eliminate a mechanically induced differential with the electronic an inverse differential: If you for example move the aileron stick to the right, than the left aileron down deflection is reduced by an amount selected in the multi-flapmenu (line Diff). If now the inverse differential starts to take an effect, the left (up) deflection is enlarged and the right (down) defection reduced. Example: With an AILE diff. of 50% and a diff. red. of 100% is the differential value 0% with the brake control stick (normal channel 1 controller) exactly in the middle. After that point the inverse differential reduction (as described above) begins.

The adjustment range is 150%. CLEAR = 0%. The adjustment for any differential values is best undertaken on the completed model and/or in flight.

At this stage the two aileron servos 2+5 are not affected by the CH controller in the landing phase?! As there is no servo connected to output 1+7 we are no longer interested in the servo display. directly into the sub-menu Brake adjust. This can be changed as necessary. (To be able to change the offset value make sure you switch into the landing phase first). A value of about 90% is most appropriate: As the remaining control throw of the stick to full foreward no longer influences the aileron position and you are ensured the ailerons are neutral with the throttle stick full foreward in the landing mode even if you have moved the stick slightly backwards (accidentally). At the same time the avalable control travel isexpanded to 100%.

Note: You are missing the Multi-Flap-Menu? On a model with only two aileron servos is this menu not relevant. It is inhibited in the software!

Adjust the control values for the ailerons to your requirement. Again change with a push on the rotary knob to the Servo display: In phase Landing the output for the aileron servos 2+5 are now also moving with movement of the Ch 1 controller (throttle stick), but now as landing flaps!

Start with the programming of a new model memory. In Code 21 Basic settings You enter the model name, the control mode and the receiver type. The following example assumes that you have done the mechanical adjustments as well as selecting the correct servo direction. Check those settings again and if found incorrect you can change the direction by swopping servo output connection to the receiver or just do it in Code 23 Servo adjust. As the fine tuning of a model is done in flight , we recommend to use the in Code 49 Auxiliary switch available trim- and INC / DEC-Switch instead of the rotary selector , see page 20. This programming example is relevant to the receiver connections as shown in the following sketch:

first the tail type normal. In the line Aileron/flap you select 2 Al 2 Fl. In the line Brake you select input 1. Later on we want to use the CH 1 stick as controller for the two air-brake servos connected to output 1+8. With the offset adjustment you enter the neutral point to + 90% if you want the air-brakes to be fully retracted at that setting of the control stick. The remaining travel from 90% to the full foreward position of the stick has no further response. With that you ensure that the air-brakes are not popping out with a minor position error if the control stick is not fully foreward. At the same time the active travel of the control stick is expanded to 100%.

Change now to line: QR : Here we adjust the amount of aileron coupling for the two Ail and Fl by movement of the aileron stick in%. Before you set these values make sure to check on the correct direction of control throw. Ail-tr.: Select the desired trim value from the aileron trim lever to Al and Fl. Diff.: Adjust the desired differential value for Al and Fl. Page 75 in the mc-24/1 handbook explains the function of the Differential. The adjustment range of -100% and +100% allows for the selection of the correct differential direction independant of control direction on ailerons and flaps. WK : The ailerons and flaps can not be controlled as camber flaps as we had selected free for input 6 (further above). The standard values can remain in this line, but we have set the values for the camber flaps to 0% / 0% to make it easier to view the functions.

Crow:

Further above we selected the CH 1 stick for the control of the brake flaps. Now you select here by which amount the ailerons and faps will travel by movement of the brake stick. Make your adjustment so that both ailerons move upwards and both flaps move downward. A short push on the rotary selector lets you check in the Sevo display the selected values but also importantly that the brake control stick has no influence on the Crow from the brake offset (90%) to the end of the stick travel (full foreward position).

For the just completed programming of phase 1 the normal phase we select the name normal with the rotary controller after first pushing the SEL key. (You can create your own phase name in Code 91).

We select the name Thermal for phase 2. In the right column you enter a delay time to switch from any other phase into the thermal phase in order to avoid abrupt changes. You have to experiment a little to get the time delay to your liking. We have set the delay to 2sec. in our example.

If required, check again all control movements and adjust if neccessary in Code 23 Servo adjust the sevo centre, servo travel and servo travel limit.

Designation of the 3-pos-switch

Now we program the in flight phaseThermal required adjustments:

(Move the CH 1 control stick to the full foreward position so that you may identify the position of the camber settings better while using the linear slider or 3-pos-switch.):
In the controller centre position only the Fl-posadjustment of +10% for the Ail and +15% for the Fl is effective. On one end position of the controller are the Ail and Fl in neutral again as the here pre selected mixer value for the Fl-pos adjustment compensates and in the other end position the aileron and flap servos run to the the lower maximum position.

Now you change in the flight phase Thermal the values for Fl-pos. And Fl: Fl-pos.: Here you position for the phase Thermal the ailerons and flaps for the in flight neutral position of the slider or switch (centre). FL: In this line you program the amount by which the ailerons and flaps will move as camber flaps by use of the linear slider or toggle position of the switch. (Due to non linear lift distribution the mixing value for the flaps should be a little higher than for the ailerons.)
CLEAR is the reset command to return the changed values to the default settings.

The position of the flaps and ailerons for the two end positions and centre position of the switch depend on the value set in - Travel +. It is also influenced by the offset and the mixing value in the Multi Flap - Menu (Code 71) , see further down. We leave the control travel at +100% symmetrical and the offset at 0% as shown in the display page above.

In both end positions of the 3 position switch is the elevator re adjusted by symmetrical 5% in our example (note the correct direction). With the linear slider the elevator is proportionally controlled in the correct direction.

After a short push on the rotary selector you can check on the camber flap positions for aileron and flap in the Servo display in relation to the linear slider on input 6 or the 3posswitch.
