Rosenberg, Jeffrey, and W. Bradford Wilcox. The Importance of Fathers in the Healthy Development of Children.

Child Welfare Information Gateway. 2006. Web 22 March 2010. <http://www.childware.gov/pubs/usermanuals/fatherhood/chaptertwo.cfm.> This source I found is a publication on website that empowers strengthening families and the protection of children. The writing and publication that actually helped me with my inquiry question focuses on the significance of having a father and/or male figure in a childs life. Psychologists and sociologist found a father isnt just the second adult to a child. A father means much more, by mean of protection, shelter, and he deserves a place where no other human being can fill or substitute. The father impacts a childs relationship with other people, their psychological well being and social abilities, and educational achievements. The source is credible because it is funded and available for government purposes. It is a service of the Childrens Bureau, Administration for Children and Families, and U.S. Department if Health and Human Services. The information found comes from sociologist and psychologist who have looked into these situations and recorded the stated views of fathers. The source was beneficial because it showed me that in most situations without a father there is an unbalance in a childs life. No matter the age, this source showed me that some of the reasons teens have sex is because they look for something they cant find, and in this case its the love and protection of a male figure. The information from the source was pretty specific and to the point. To me, it was clear that a father is a very important figure for the youth.

Teen Pregnancy Statistics and Teen Pregnancy Facts. Family First Aid: Help for Troubled Teens. 2000-04. Web. 12 March 2010. http://familyfirstaid.org/teenpregnancy.html This source briefly states the statistics and gives a number of the many pregnancies that have happened in the United States. It is also found that most teen pregnancies involve youth who dont have an open relationship with a parent or guardian. This happens to be true because contraceptives may not be available and are most times overlooked. Consequences like dropouts, poor performance in school, and maybe prison come with teenage pregnancies. Preventions are presented and how this epidemic can be stopped is also presented as well in this source. The website is credible because it is specifically designed for help to teenager. When reading the information is sounds pretty tragic and depressing, but it may be biased that teen pregnancy is just a terrible thing. It isnt looked upon as a simple mistake, but a really big error or fault. I think the source would benefit those who need help. I believe it was helpful in the fact that it shows what may be the direct cause of teen pregnancies. Also the way that teen pregnancies isnt just crossed upon as something easy, or something to be easily moved over, but in the source it isnt serious. It isnt looked at as something positive or wonderful, but most significant and important. This source helped me in my research by allowing me to conjure up a numerical amount of how many teens were affected by teen pregnancy. Measure up to other countries, the US has the most. When I saw this it made we wonder why here, there were so many. It made me to believe it had something to do with the way adolescents and teens interact and how they are affected by the media. What they see on television, like the shows Teen Moms or 16 & Pregnant, I believe may have a lot to do with this.

The Reasons Teens Get Pregnant. TeenHelp.com. 2012. Web. 13 Mar 2012. <http://www.teenhelp.com/teen-pregnancy/teen-pregnancy-reasons.html>. This source talks about and lists the main reasons why teens get pregnant. For some of the cases, teens do want to have babies, but most do not. It says because most teens become pregnant without being married they are more likely to continue sex, and therefore may have more children. Because a lot of the sexual encounters are mostly unwanted, teens are pushed to have sex, and more drawn to do it more. Bith controls are not always available to teens. The article believes all teens should be informed, despite what parents think, on sex and ways to protect themselves. I think the source is credible. To me I believe it has a valid point. For each of the reasons given, it makes sense to why teens act the way they do. Even though it does not say a particular author, I think the information can be trusted. It isnt biased and it seems moderate to all aspects of teen pregnancy. For any other reason, I think readers could note out that the sex talk should be more publicized to stop the growing rates of teen pregnancy. From this article I took that it is imperative young women and men need to have relationships with their parents. I was given reasoning to why teens make the decisions they do. When I had the pieces of the puzzle, I could put everything together and it made sense why teens can become the way that they are. With stronger communication between a mother and father with their child, the better situations can be.

11 Facts About Teen Pregnancy. DoSomething.org. Web. 13 March 2012. <http://www.dosomething.org/tipsandtools/11-facts-about-teen-pregnancy>. This website is like an advertisement to educate people to do something about teen pregnancies. It gives eleven reasons why teen pregnancies in America are a negative thing. One of the top facts is the US is the top most industrialized countries with teen pregnancies and the last is the amounts of money spent on welfare from pregnancy costs. This list looks on different aspects on how it is a negative as a whole in the society today. I believe the source comes from a credible author or writer because I remember seeing in another source I found, that the US was also the most industrialized country for teen pregnancies. Because I have seen the information twice, it has truth to it, but it also could have not been formulated on its own. I think the facts are more informative than biased because it is just listing out true pieces of information. From this source it helped me understand why more the US had so many teen pregnancies. Given the reasons, I was also able to make out how to stop teen pregnancies. For example like stated before, one of the negative effects were there was being too much money spent from welfare to teen mothers and fathers. When teens have children, most times they do not think about the monies spent and how financially stable they can be. With the facts given, it was introduced why so many people look down upon teenage pregnancy. It helped to decide why and how things should go about by making it a much more comforting issue. In my project, I wanted to bring about sympathy for teen mothers and fathers.

Kelly, Deidre M. Warning Labels: Stigma And The Population Of Teen Mothers Stories. Curriculum Inquiry 27.2 (1997):165. Academic Search Complete. Web. 29 April 2012 This journal talks about how most professionals believe teen mothers all just want to give birth. However the writer believe this is very false. In many cases the mother wants to be there for their child, but unfortunately doesnt know what to do. An adolescent is still growing up and dependant on their parent or some type of guardian. She doesnt efficiently have the knowledge to raise a family, and since she is most looked down upon, she is said to often fail. This source seems pretty credible. The authors are doctors which seem to have much qualification to speak on this subject. However, I do believe the source is biased. The doctors must feel sorry for the mothers and wish they were more uplifted. In my research, this source allowed me to look into more how other people actually felt about the population of teen mothers. As seen through the journal, many people do believe teens fail at being a mother, but it seems he wants to change this idea.
