Being part of the exchange program is a privilege that not everybody student enjoys; Qualification for this requires

dedication and consistent determination. It is not only the quality education that students are interested at but also the corresponding experiences where the real learning comes from. Indeed, a myriad of choices is available in deciding which school to take for my exchange program. Each destination has its respective comparative advantages to offer over the others, especially considering the natural attraction that the various tourist spots of the countries provide to us students. Choosing my own destination and school in participating to our Junior Term Abroad program took me awhile in making a final decision for I have to take in consideration a couple of things, particularly the security of the country itself first. Then, the competence, quality and credibility of the school, in terms of the kind of education it provides, also has to be noted. My choice of National Sun Yat-Sen University came up with my priority consideration of choosing a destination within Asia. I believe it would be easier for me to cope and deal with Asians, since the cultural differences among Asian countries are not too complexified as opposed to Western nations, wherein the way of living would be entirely unfamiliar for me. What made me opt for Taiwan was the nations established global legacy of democracy and free enterprise compared to the mainland Chinas communist system of government. The kind of fervent disposition, determination and advocacy towards liberation fought by the founders of this nation, such as Chiang KaiShek and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, are key factors that stabilize the status of Taiwan and keeps its harmony among its citizens up to the present day. Basically, its success for the past years with its peaceful citizens, secured economy, efficient government and progressive overall development may be attributable to the forerunners of nationalism and democracy. They have integrated well the values of discipline and justice to the people of their land, which has later translated to the betterment and stability of the nation. Therefore, it is of my high hopes and expectations that such type of optimal attitude and control exemplified by the people of Republic of China (Taiwan) will be imbibed in my character and personality so as to give me a guiding principle in sustaining a well-balanced growth in my career and success in my future endeavors. Apparently, the National Sun Yat-Sen University has instituted its credibility in providing a quality and competitive training to its students that will secure them in the real battle field after they graduate. Its high standards of orientation is not solely exclusive to Taiwanese alone, but the school also offers it to anyone interested, regardless of ones nationality. The school is open to extend its excellence to a wide variety of people. With that, I chose to go to Taiwan and decided to spend a junior term in the National Sun Yat-Sen University, not only because of the value knowledge that I may acquire but most especially I am after the learning experience itself that will propel me to real success in life.
