Jesus said that those unfit for the kingdom would be cursed at the judgment (Mat. 25:41); Paul rejoiced that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law (Gal. 3:13).
(DEUT. 24:16) THE FATHERS SHALL NOT BE PUT TO DEATH FOR THE CHILDREN, NEITHER SHALL THE CHILDREN BE PUT TO DEATH FOR THE FATHERS: EVERY MAN SHALL BE PUT TO DEATH FOR HIS OWN SIN. The composition is: 1. This Passage completely obliterates the modern false teaching of the family curse. 2. This Passage teaches that each person is responsible. 3. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is an individual Gospel. THE FAMILY CURSE First of all we should ask the question, Is there such a thing as a family curse, or a generational curse, as it is sometime called? Yes it is! To be frank, there all kinds of curses upon people who do not know the Lord. But let us emphasize that its only on those who do not know the Lord. WHAT IS A CURSE AS IT PERTAINS TO GOD? The curse, often referred to, was considered a visitation of the Judgment of God. It appears first in the sundry Laws of Moses in connection with the trial ordeal of a woman suspected of adultery (Num. 5:18-27). Moses set before Israel The Blessing and the Curse (Deut. 30:1). Jeremiah doubtless had the same curse in mind when he said, Because of the curse the land mourns (Jer. 23:10). To this other Prophets agreed (Isa. 24:6; Dan. 9:11;

Zech. 5:3; Mal. 2:2). In a broader sense a Divine curse is on all evildoers. The Scripture says, The LORDs curse is on the house of the wicked (Prov. 3:33; Job 24:18; Mal. 1:14). A curse of some kind has been the common lot of man since Eve ate the forbidden fruit. Because of Adams sin God placed a curse on the serpent and on the ground (Gen. 3:14, 17). He placed a curse, as well, on Cain because he killed Abel (Gen. 4:11). A curse was a characteristic entity, a power, force, or energy, expressing itself in hurt to man or damage to property. Even a man or a place could become a curse. It was to be feared and shunned. Jacob feared invoking a curse on himself by deceiving his father (Gen. 27:12). Jeremiah said a curse was on Zedekiah and his house, and on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah (Jer. 24:9; 25:18; 42:18; 44:8, 12, 22; 49:13). Peter, in confusion, invoked a curse upon himself (Mat. 26:74). Cursing in the Bible is not profanity in the modern sense; therefore, neither Peter in this instance nor Jesus in cursing the fig tree used profanity (Mk. 11:21). Jesus said that those unfit for the kingdom would be cursed at the judgment (Mat. 25:41); Paul rejoiced that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law (Gal. 3:13). THE CURSE OF THE BROKEN LAW Referring to the statement made by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3:13, this tells us that every single person in the world who has ever lived, with the exception of Christ, was born under the curse of the broken Law. Before the Law was given, this was true in a sense as it regards original sin. Mankind born in original sin is automatically under a curse. The Lord said to Eve, and concerning the curse, and I quote from THE EXPOSITORS STUDY BIBLE: I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception (the original Plan of God was that husband and wife would bring sons and daughters of God into the world; Continued on page 4

due to the Fall, they can only bring sons and daughters into the world in the likeness of Adam [Gen. 5:3]); in sorrow you shall bring forth children (as a result of the Fall, children would be born into a world of sorrow); and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you (her husband, instead of God, would now rule over her). And unto Adam He said, Because you have hearkened unto the voice of your wife (Adam hearkened unto his wife instead of God), and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it (the tree itself contained no evil properties in the fruit; the Fall, as stated, was caused rather by disobedience to the Word of God): cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life (Earth was originally intended to be a paradise, but now it will give up its largesse reluctantly; as well, the phrase, all the days of your life, proclaims the death sentence, which means that life is now terminal, all as a result of spiritual death, which was, and is, separation from God); Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you (thorns and thistles were not originally in the creation of God, this being a result of the curse, which is a result of the sin of man); and you shall eat the herb of the field (this would not now grow freely, as originally intended, but only now with great care and great labor); In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread (food will be obtained by hard labor), till you return unto the ground (the life-source, which was formerly in God, is now in food, and which is woefully insufficient); for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return (the Power of God Alone could keep the dust alive; that being gone, to dust man returns). Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden (in effect, this was an act of mercy; man is expelled from the Garden, lest by eating the Tree of Life he should perpetuate his misery; but Gods Love for him, though fallen and guilty, is so strong that He accompanies him into exile; as well, through Jesus Christ, Gods only Son, Who will be given in Sacrifice, the Lord will show Adam, and all who would follow him, how to come back into Paradise; regrettably, there is no record that Adam and Eve placed any faith in the Lord; unfortunately, untold billions have followed suit), to till the ground from whence he was taken (refers to a place of toil, not to a place of torment). So He (God) drove out the man (implies the idea of force and displeasure); and He placed at the east of the

Garden of Eden Cherubims (these Cherubims signified the Holiness of God, which man had now forfeited), and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the Tree of Life (the flaming sword was emblematic of the Divine Glory in its attitude towards sin) (Gen. 3:16-19, 23-24). When the Law of God was given to Moses, which was approximately some 2,500 years after the Fall in the Garden of Eden, it contained both Blessings and Curses. The Blessings are found in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. The Curses are found in Deuteronomy 27:14-26. was given some 3,500 years ago, is under the curse of the broken Law. HOW DOES ONE ESCAPE THE CURSE OF THE BROKEN LAW? There is only one way! That one way is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as ones Saviour and ones Lord (Rom. 5:1-2; 10:9-10, 13; Eph. 2:8-9). Paul said, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law (He did so on the Cross), being made a curse for us (He took the penalty of the Law, which was death): for it is written, Cursed is every one who hangs on a tree (Deut. 21:22-23): That the Blessing of Abraham (Justification by Faith) might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ (what He did at the Cross); that we might receive the Promise of the Spirit through Faith. (All sin was atoned at the Cross which lifted the sin debt from believing man, making it possible for the Holy Spirit to come into the life of the Believer and abide there forever [Jn. 14:16-17]) (Gal. 3:13-14). Let me state it again, there is absolutely no way out of this curse that God has been forced to place upon the human race, and because of sin, except by the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as ones Saviour and Lord. The moment that is done, every single curse is abrogated, and in totality. Not a single curse, or a vestige of a curse remains.

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God (Jn. 3:3). We invite you now to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name (Jn. 1:12). SO, WHAT ARE PREACHERS TALKING ABOUT AS IT REGARDS THE FAMILY CURSE? They take their Text from the following Passage: You shall not make unto yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the Earth beneath, or that is in the water under the Earth. You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them who hate Me (Ex. 20:4-5). Now this Passage is most definitely correct and means exactly what it says; however, there is a qualifier, which states, of them who hate Me. When a person comes to the Lord, they certainly dont hate the Lord. But listen to the next Verse: And showing mercy unto thousands of them who love Me and keep My Commandments (Vs. 6). Jesus has perfectly kept all the Commandments and our Faith in Him, makes us perfect Law-keepers as well. The curse stops when one accepts Christ. These Preachers teach, as it regards the family or generational curse, that the reason Believers are having problems, is because their great grandfather or somebody back in their lineage, committed some terrible sin, and now the judgment of that sin is coming upon them. They are then told they have to go to a Preacher who understands these things, who will lay hands on them and rebuke the family curse, etc., and they will then be free. There is nothing like that in the Word of God. Furthermore, the Lord said through the Prophet Ezekiel, What mean ye, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the childrens teeth are set on edge? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, you shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine: the soul that sins, it shall die (Ezek. 18:2-4). Many in Israel in Ezekiels day were claiming the same thing as some of these modern Preachers. They were claiming that they had not failed the Lord in any way, but the judgment was because of sins that their fathers had committed, etc. The Lord through the Prophet tells them that such is not at all the case. Jesus has perfectly kept all the Commandments and our Faith in Him, makes us perfect Law-keepers as well. The curse stops when one accepts Christ.

SO, WHY ARE THESE CHRISTIANS HAVING PROBLEMS? It is true that many Christians are having problems that they shouldnt have, but its not because of some family curse. The reason is, they do not understand the Cross as it regards Sanctification, meaning they try to live for God in the wrong way, which brings about untold difficulties. In fact, Satan causes all type of problems for Christians who do not know Gods Prescribed Order of Victory, which is Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. These particular Christians, whomever they might be, dont need hands laid on them, and some type of family curse rebuked. What they do need is to be told the Truth. And what is the truth? The truth is (Jn. 8:32), that everything we need is in the Cross of Christ. Thats why Paul preached the Cross (I Cor 1:23). If the Believer will place his faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross, and not allow it to be moved to other things, the Holy Spirit will then begin to help that Believer, giving such a Believer victory over the world, the flesh, and the Devil and, as well, making it possible for all type of Blessings to come. Jesus paid it all at the Cross. He defeated Satan and did so totally. And when some Preacher comes along, telling Believers that the reason theyre having problems, is because of a family curse, and that they need someone to rebuke that curse, whether they realize it or not, they are insulting Christ, actually stating, that what He did at the Cross is not enough. In other words, they have to add something to what He has already done. I dont know if they understand it or not, but such a position borders on blasphemy. Jesus paid it all, and that means there is nothing left owing. When the Believer gets his faith right, which means Faith in Christ and the Cross, and Christ and the Cross exclusively, he is going to find a victory like hes never known before, and in every capacity (Rom. 6:1-14; 8:1-2, 11; I Cor. 1:17-18, 21, 23; 2:2; Gal., Chpt. 5; 6:14).

(31) MOREOVER YOU SHALL TAKE NO SATISFACTION FOR THE LIFE OF A MURDERER, WHICH IS GUILTY OF DEATH: BUT HE SHALL BE SURELY PUT TO DEATH. (32) AND YOU SHALL TAKE NO SATISFACTION FOR HIM WHO IS FLED TO THE CITY OF HIS REFUGE, THAT HE SHOULD COME AGAIN TO DWELL IN THE LAND, UNTIL THE DEATH OF THE PRIEST. (33) SO YOU SHALL NOT POLLUTE THE LAND WHEREIN YOU ARE: FOR BLOOD IT DEFILES THE LAND: AND THE LAND CANNOT BE CLEANSED OF THE BLOOD THAT IS SHED THEREIN, BUT BY THE BLOOD OF HIM WHO SHED IT. Under the Law of Moses, there had to be two or more eyewitnesses to the crime before the person could be put to death; one eyewitness was not enough; such shows the high value that God placed upon life. 2. If there are two or more personal witnesses to the Capital crime, the guilty person is to be put to death. 3. If the person is a murderer, he cannot claim safety and protection in one of the cities of refuge, as could one who had accidentally killed another. This means that the

cities of refuge were to never be a haven for murderers. 4. If a person commits cold-blooded murder, and there are two or more eyewitnesses, such a person must be executed; to not take proper steps in such situations pollutes the land; so that means, regarding the untold thousands of abortions performed each year in the United States, that the land is polluted with blood; one day God will demand payment. 5. The Thirty-fourth Verse proclaims the fact that God declared that He dwelt in the land of Israel, even among the Children of Israel. This was under the Old Law; however, it applies presently to the nations of the world, which consider themselves to be predominantly Christian. God does not change, even as God cannot change. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT The Holy Spirit writes of these cities of refuge in Exodus, Chapter 21; Numbers, Chapter 35; Deuteronomy, Chapters 4 and 19; and Joshua, Chapter 20. Verse Thirty says, The murderer shall be put to death. This Law was given in Genesis 9:6. It was continued under the New Covenant in Romans 13:1-7. The Thirty-third Verse says, For blood it defiles the land. It means that blood unlawfully shed defiles the land. Therefore, even near the dawn of time, God commanded that murderers should be executed. It continued under the Law, and, as well, into the Age of Grace, which covers us at this present time. However, and as stated, under the Old Testament Law, there had to be two or more witnesses to a Capital crime before execution could be carried out. One witness was not deemed to be sufficient (Vs. 30; Deut. 17:6). Some argue that Capital punishment does not deter crime and, therefore, should be stricken from the books. They are right in one respect, it does not deter crime, and is not meant to deter crime, but is meant to show Continued on page 10

blob of flesh; but that is simply not true. The little unborn baby is not just a part of the mothers body. He is a separate life altogether. All of the childs particular traits have already been charted in his genes. The sex of the child, the color of his or her eyes and hair, his or her physical features, his or her special talents and gifts are all determined at the time of conception. Both the mother and the father of the child have already, at this point, passed down to their baby every genetic characteristic they will contribute. A LIVING SOUL The Bible also teaches that the fetus, from conception, is a person and, consequently, a living soul. David was inspired to say, Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me (Ps. 51:5). When David said, I was shaped, it was his honest inference that from the moment of conception, he was the person who would later be known as David, the great king of Israel. Again, the Psalmist David was inspired to write, You have covered me in my mothers womb. I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps. 139:13-14). From the moment of conception, and as the Holy Spirit gave the intent, David was, indeed, a person. It was Davids body, his very substance, in the womb of his mother. We have the same kind of teaching concerning Jeremiah, who said, Then the Word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a Prophet unto the nations (Jer. 1:4-5). God knew the Prophet Jeremiah before he was born. If, by abortion, the fetus had been murdered, it would have been Jeremiah who died. The mother would not have

In the rare instances where abortion would have to be performed to save the life of the mother, it would not be counted by God as murder. Otherwise, it is! It should be understood, abortion is sin. It is the equivalent of murder, in this instance, the murder of an unborn infant. For long centuries no decent person, and certainly no respective Christian, have advocated killing an unborn baby. Like any other act of killing, it is murder. This is the Law of civilized nations, and more important, it is the Law of God. Yet now, godless people are saying, kill the baby. It will be good for the mothers mental health. She doesnt want the child. She has become pregnant (much of the time) because of the sin of fornication and adultery. She doesnt want to feed, clothe, or rear the child. She will then go to a doctor and pay him to kill the unwanted baby, and somehow greed will still the conscience. ABORTION IS MURDER All murder is wrong. In the Old Testament, even before the Law, God said, Whoso sheds mans blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man (Gen. 9:6). Under the Mosaic Law, God plainly commanded, He who smites a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death (Ex. 21:12). The death penalty for murder is also clearly implied in the New Testament: the ruler of a nation is the minister of God . . . for he bears not the sword in vain (Rom. 13:1-7). Murderers are kept outside the heavenly Jerusalem, as should be obvious (Rev. 21:8; 22:15). To God the killing of an unborn child is murder. The person guilty of that murder is subject to the same conviction and deserving of the same punishment as the person who pulls the trigger of a gun to kill a person. A HUMAN BEING Second, the unborn child, the fetus so-called, is a human being a person from the time of conception. Some persons have foolishly said that the unborn child, up to the sixth or seventh month, is little more than a

from his mothers womb (Lk. 1:15). Mary, the Mother of Jesus, came to greet Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb (Lk. 1:41). The fetus of John the Baptist, in the womb of his mother, may not have understood clearly why he leaped at the sound of the voice of Mary (the Mother of the Saviour), but God knew. It is interesting to note the Words of Jesus, Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the Kingdom of God (Mk. 10:14). He was speaking in reference to the infants brought to be blessed by Him. The term used for infants in the Greek is brephos, which Youngs Analytical Concordance defines as a child born or unborn (Young). Does that mean, then, that all the little ones who died before had an immortal soul (of such is the Kingdom of God) and that they will meet us there? Well, certainly it is implied if not outright stated in this Passage of Scripture. PSYCHOLOGICAL PAIN AND GUILT Third, the psychological pain of abortion is never quite erased from the mothers heart and mind. The psychic trauma and the sense of loss regarding personal morality will persist throughout life. So many times the mother becomes troubled and consumed with guilt so that she develops significant psychiatric problems following, and as a direct result of, abortion. I believe it can be stated with certainty that abortion causes more deep-seeded guilt, depression, and mental illness that it could ever cure. The mother will always wonder: what would the baby have looked like? Would he have had curly hair? What color would her hair have been? Would it have been a boy or a girl? ONE SIN PLUS ONE SIN EQUALS TWO SINS Fourth, some persons have said that if a baby is illegitimate, then he should be aborted. Of course, the answer to that is that you do not erase, correct, or even justify one sin by committing another. The truth is, there is no such thing as an illegitimate child, only illegitimate parents. The only real answer to sin is Repentance and trusting the Saviour for forgiveness and for rearranging the soiled life. To compound sin upon sin is not the way to peace or mental health. Some persons say the end justifies the means, but it never does. Of course, some persons may question, would it not

be proper to undergo an abortion to save the life or preserve the health of the mother? In a few rare cases, this is the case, and in that case, it would not be murder. A MORAL QUESTION The fact is, abortion is a sin. The killing of an unborn child is a terrible sin; as stated, it is murder. It is also a moral question. It is essentially the same as murdering the incompetent, the retarded, the handicapped, and the aged or senile. If we are going to kill the unwanted, possibly there are many one-, two-, five-, ten-, even fifty-year olds who are unwanted. Why not just kill them too? You see how horrendous this terrible crime becomes when carried to its ultimate conclusion. To slay the innocent because he cannot protest or swear a warrant is a sin. The Scripture says, Be sure your sin will find you out (Num. 32:23). There is a God Who cares for the weak, the unloved, and the unprotected. He will bring Judgment. Gods mills grind slow but they grind exceedingly fine (Greek Proverb). If the abortionists continue to win their cause in the United States, where do we go from there? If you remember, Nazi Germany enacted a Law permitting the elimination of useless members of society; consequently, eighteen million people were slaughtered (among them, six million Jews) because they represented a category that was considered useless. We have the same pattern before us in America, in which a whole category of human beings unborn babies who cannot yet speak for themselves are to be slaughtered at the whim of a mother or a doctor who decides that the mother is somehow unable or unwilling to have a baby. Where do we go from here? What is the next class of humanity to be destroyed? No, abortion is of Satan! It is totally ungodly, a terrible case of mans inhumanity to man, and one day man will answer to God for this terrible sin. THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD BIBLICAL OR OCCULT LAW?

Many today in both the secular world and professing church world claim that there are universal spiritual laws which exist and that any person may learn to utilize, causing the spirit realm to work on their behalf. Supposedly, these laws will work for anyone from any walk or persuasion of life, whether Christian or non-Christian. One of the most popular and all-encompassing of these laws is what New Agers refer to as the law of attraction. You will hear it mentioned, however, under a variety of different terms. In the business world, you may hear it termed the power of positive thinking or unlimited human potential. In the church world, you may hear teachings such as the word of faith, the fourth dimension, or the confession principle. In witchcraft, it is the formula, as above, so below (meaning, as it is in the spiritual, so it is in the natural). And, as you may have already realized, these teachings actually go much deeper than mind science religions and philosophy. It is clear that these so-called spiritual laws originated in the occult world and came directly from Satan himself. We will discuss exactly how in more detail later. THE LAW OF ATTRACTION? Essentially, the law of attraction works by a concentrated focus upon a desire that one longs to have manifest in his life. This focus, of course, must eventually tap into the spirit realm in order to bring the desire into the physical realm. Part of this process involves the person developing a consciousness of belief that the benevolent universe, which many consider to be god, is bringing that desire to him. And, to ensure that his newfound faith doesnt waver, the individual must think about, speak about, dream about, and even visualize his desire until it materializes in the physical/natural realm. According to one self-proclaimed pagan witch and supporter of the earth-goddess movement, To work magic is to weave the unseen forces into form, to soar beyond sight, to explore the uncharted dream realm of the hidden reality . . . to leap beyond imagination into that space between the worlds where fantasy becomes real; to be at once animal and god . . . Spells [and magic] . . . require the combined faculties of relaxation, visualization, concentration, and [mental] projection . . . To cast a spell is to project energy through a symbol.1 Oprah Winfrey has recently promoted a book entitled The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, which teaches this law of attraction. In it Byrne says, Nothing can come into your experience unless you summon it through persistent thoughts.2 Another important aspect of practicing this law is the belief that there is power in the words you speak. You see, the words we say are considered the tangible version of the thoughts we are thinking. Our words, therefore, have the power to create or destroy our destinies. So, in order to successfully practice this, one should confidently declare the faith-thoughts he has been meditating upon, even, at times, speaking about them as if they have already come to pass. Anything else is considered doubt in god or the universe (or doubt in oneself, since some believe that god and self are one in the same). ALTERED CONSCIOUSNESS? In fact, one must never speak a negative word or thought aloud because such can bring negative things into ones life. In essence, they say, people will attract into their lives whatever things they consistently think and feel. The law of attraction is the law of creation . . . You create your life through your thoughts.3 And what becomes of the sin problem in this case? Well, a confession of sin would be considered a negative confession, so one would simply deny that there is even any sin in his life to worry about. People are led to believe that if they think about sin, they will bring more

sin into their lives. Under this law, the confession and repentance of sin is eliminated! Therefore, Salvation is eliminated as well! Science of Mind teaches that there is a favorable physical reaction, an effect, which follows a pattern of thought incorporating ideas of health, for the law of cause and effect governs everything. Similarly, it is held that right thinking will result in a greater experience of success and abundance. A successful person thinks success, and the law of mind that reacts has no other choice than to produce an effect corresponding to the causative idea.4 Its similar to the idea of karma, except that the action which brings the result is the persons meditative (spiritual) thoughts. Actually, the dangerous reality of what can occur when a person repeatedly thinks and speaks the same thoughts is a state of altered consciousness. It is really a form of self-hypnosis brought about by mantra-like repetition and an obsession with ones desired goal. The inspiration of the Holy Spirit is astounding as the Bible warns us of such a practice: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do . . . (Mat. 6:7). For example, many motivational/success tapes, lectures, and seminars start you off by helping you make your thoughts repetitive. Altered consciousness is another subject in itself, which we may also discuss in more detail later. It may cause a person to perform certain tasks with much greater efficiency. It may also act as a defense mechanism for dealing with the uncertainties and hardships of life by giving someone an ability to simply deny a problem even exists and continue on in their state of blind confidence, hence the reason many have ended up with some serious consequences such as total bankruptcy or the loss of a marriage! Most importantly, in this case, altered consciousness is a door into the spirit realm. CONFESSION? The Word of Faith teachers are probably the most recognized in the church world for believing in and practicing this heretical, and formally esoteric, doctrine. You see, until the recent past, formulas such as this were kept hidden from the general public because they would have been identified as sorcery and witchcraft, and the laws of the land would have punished the practice. So, members of such cults and societies were sworn to secrecy. Times are certainly different now; if anything, our society celebrates witchcraft, often believing that there are good or redeeming aspects to the practice. But, remember the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden? Man wanted to be like God. Man wanted the knowledge that would enable him to operate in the spiritual realm. God, however, told Adam and Eve not to eat from any of the tree, whether the so-called good side or the bad side. God knew the entire tree was evil, and partaking of it eventually brought about the entire fall of man! Today, the church has fallen so far into darkness that she cannot recognize divination when it is practiced right within her own walls. Those who practice Word of Faith are functioning by the same occult law of attraction, while thinking they have discovered the key to victorious Christian living. They use the confession principle, by their definition, meaning that when one confesses a verse of Scripture or a promise from the Lord, the forces of good (God or angels) are released on his behalf. They believe that confessing the words of Scripture activate the Lords supernatural Power. Christ and the Cross are completely ignored, with the

avenue of success being ensconced in the proper Scriptures being chosen and properly confessed.5

WITCHCRAFT You see, teachers inside the professing church will incorporate Scriptures whereas secular society simply uses whatever else they may hold sacred and/or believe to possess great wisdom. However, the practical application and overall philosophy is exactly the same! It is nothing less than practical magic. Popular preacher, Joel Osteen, says Your circumstances will line up with your words. Words are like seeds, they have creative power . . . The more you talk about it the more you call it in . . . You can use your words to bless your life or curse your life.6 Joel Osteen was influenced by the Word of Faith teachings of Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland. Osteen also stated in his best-selling book, Your Best Life Now, We have to conceive it on the inside before were ever going to receive it on the outside. If you dont think you can have something good, then you never will. The barrier is in your mind. Its not Gods lack of resources or your lack of talent that prevents you from prospering. Your own wrong thinking can keep you from Gods best.7 A non-charismatic version of Word of Faith teaching may be more along the lines of Robert Schullers positive thinking gospel. Christians must realize that it is not automatically a noble deed in the eyes of God to believe the positive. Righteousness strives to know what is true, whether positive or negative. Not one of these socalled spiritual laws or teachings is found in Scripture! God has already given us the law through which His

Power (which is the Power of the Holy Spirit) works: For the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the Law of Sin and Death (Rom. 8:2). The Holy Spirit works only through the shed

Blood of Christ! Instead, what these men have done is ignore the true Source of Power, which is the Cross, and literally transformed the Bible into a witchs book of spells. The Wikipedia on-line dictionary defines a spell as A word or formula believed to have magic power. Word of Faith even goes so far as to admit that the unredeemed can tap into these laws if they follow the right rules. But, make no mistake, the Lord does not function through magic! Attempting to operate outside the Will of God and/or rebelling against His Will is witchcraft, pure and simple! For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft . . . (I Sam. 15:23).
THE NEW THOUGHT MOVEMENT In The Secret, Byrne introduces Prentice Mulford (1834-1891) as one of the earliest writers and founders of the New Thought movement . . . This quote from Thoughts are Things summarizes his mental and spiritual laws: . . . In the future some people will draw so much of the higher quality of thought to them, that by it they will accomplish what some would call miracles. In this capacity . . . lies the secret of what has been called magic. During the 20th century, such thinking inspired positive thinking gurus like Norman Vincent Peale who, in turn, converted Robert Schuller and countless other leaders who are now pastoring churches or marketing the deception through church-related programs around the world. John Maxwell and other

the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into the spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer.10 Another promoter of this law is Yonggi Cho,

global change agents demonstrate the subtle influence of this feel-good, self-empowering ideology.8 This is exactly the same teaching that motivational trainers like Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, have been saying for years. Hill teaches that whatever can be conceived in ones mind can be obtained. He teaches that the desired thing should be visualized in ones mind, and done so repeatedly.9 Hill also states: Christianity is the single greatest force which influences the minds of men . . . it is because of faith. Faith is the head chemist of the mind. When faith is blended with the vibration of thought,

pastor of probably the largest church in South Korea. His term for the power source reached through this universal law is the fourth dimension. The fourth dimension is the Holy Spirit . . . Men, by exploring their spiritual sphere of the fourth dimension through the development of concentrated visions and dreams in their imaginations, can brood over and incubate the third dimension, influencing and changing it.11 Norman Vincent Peale was another major proponent. Peale pioneered the merger of theology and psychology which became known as Christian Psychology . . . Peale said, through prayer you . . . make use of the great factor within yourself, the deep subconscious mind . . . [which Jesus called] the kingdom of God within you . . . Positive thinking is just another term for faith. He also wrote, Your unconscious mind . . . [has a] power that turns wishes into realities when the wishes are strong enough.12 Peale even said this concerning occultic automatic writing: It little matters if these writings come from Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus of Jane [co-author Jane Palzere], they are all the same consciousness and that consciousness is God. I am a part of God, and Jane [is] part of that same God.13 BIBLICAL FAITH IS NOT MAGIC

So, now not only do we have the words of Scripture being used as magical spells, we have Faith itself being defined as a magic power. Faith is not magic! Yes, God does send His Power as a result of proper Faith, but Faith is not the Power of God in and of itself. Neither does speaking words of faith exercise the Power of God. God exercises His own Power. No human can direct or command the Power of God. Humans only receive what the Lord sovereignly supplies. Also,

Faith is not the power of the mind, nor an attitude of mind over matter. Faith is trust and rest, specifically in the Work Jesus did at Calvary! Jesus addressed all our problems there. That is what

the Lord wants us to believe in, trust in, and rest in. True Faith is not an exercise of speaking certain words or thinking certain thoughts. It is an assurance of Christ in ones heart, knowing that because He has paid the price, He will work out everything for our good in His perfect Way and Time. This is the perfect Peace of Christ! Great peace have they which love Your law: and nothing shall offend them (Ps. 119:165). When Jesus said to the woman with an issue of blood that her Faith had made her whole, He meant that because she now had the correct Object of Faith (Christ and Him Crucified) that she had all she needed to be whole (Mk. 5:25-34). Jesus did not commend the woman for her positive confession or positive thinking. He commended her for her complete and utter trust that her Source of healing was in Him! It was proper

WHAT THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST CAN DO

Acts 8:5-8 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many who were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and who were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. The true Gospel of Jesus Christ produces changed lives. The proofs of that statement are those reading this, whose lives have been gloriously Saved and changed. Some of you were once bound by drugs and alcohol or other vices, but now you are no longer the person you once were. Now you are a living Epistle of the words of Paul in II Corinthians 5:17, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Last month we established in Acts 8:1-4 that persecution always follows a great Move of God. We brought out that the greatest hindrance to the true Church is the apostate church. Now lets pick up with Verses 5 through 8. PHILIP WENT DOWN TO SAMARIA The actual city was probably Sychem. It is important to note that to the Jews the Samaritans were looked down upon. They were considered half-breeds. The Jews wanted nothing to do with Samaritans. This was the Spirit of Sectarianism at work. This was religious and nationalistic pride at work. Yet, the Love of God for them was so great that He allowed the persecution in Jerusalem to happen in order that the Gospel may come to them. I want to make a very important statement here and it is: We must go to Samaria, we must take the Gospel around the world. We must do everything in our power to let the masses know that Christ loves them and died for them. HOW CAN I GO TO SAMARIA? You may be wondering, What can I do? Im not

called to preach. You may not be called to preach, but you are called to pray and to support ministries that the Lord has called and anointed to proclaim the Good News. Every time we have Service at Family Worship Center, that Service goes out around the world via the Internet. The same goes for SonLife Radio and the Telecast. The latest figures tell us that one billion, four hundred and seven million people have access to the Internet. This, by no means, says that all will tune in, but it does mean they have the opportunity to. Thats why we need your support and thats why we constantly ask you to help us go to Samaria. AND PREACHED CHRIST UNTO THEM Before I say anymore about this, notice what Philip did not do: He did not take a door-to-door survey of the people, asking them what kind of church they would like. He did not ask them what kind of music they would like to hear. He did not start cell groups. He did not build a Starbucks. He did not try to understand what their felt needs were. No, the Scripture says, He preached Christ unto them. Imagine that, he simply proclaimed Christ as the true Saviour. He proclaimed Jesus Christ as the Messiah for the Jew and the Gentile. God manifest in the flesh, and that He died on Calvary for the sin of man, and rose from the dead. He preached Jesus as the only Saviour and Deliverer from sin. Not one of many, but the only Saviour and the only Deliverer. To preach Christ and Him Crucified must be the central core and theme of our Message. To preach Christ is to preach Salvation by Faith, the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other Tongues, healing, and a sanctified and a victorious life. This was

Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are Saved, it is the Power of God (I Cor. 1:17-18). The article was about Joshua Milton Blahyi, a former revolutionary fighter in Liberia. The article stated that an estimated 250,000 people in a nation of 3 million were killed. The horror of this war was characterized by the eating of human hearts and soccer matches played with human skulls. Blahyi, who was responsible for the deaths of more than 20,000 people, said that before he went into battle, he would make a human sacrifice to the Devil. This is what the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do. GREAT JOY The Bible says that when the Gospel was accepted, there was great joy in that city. Only Christ can produce joy in the heart of man. Joy that is not predicated on external circumstances, but a joy deep from within, the joy of sin being removed, and knowing ones heart is clean and free. A MAN AFTER GODS HEART Dear Brother Swaggart, As I started my morning with a Study in the Word over the internet, I was also reading my Expositors Study Bible. A Scripture came to mind, and I felt this was for you. Let the Elders who rule well, be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the Word and Doctrine (I Tim. 5:17). So I wanted to send a note along to let you know how appreciative I am of you. So many dont realize what a treasure you are to the body of Christ. You faithfully teach the Word on a daily basis to those who will listen, and that takes a lot. I heard someone say the other day, speaking of you, He is a man after Gods heart. Like David, may we all have that said about us. IS YOuR FAITH GENuINE?

I Peter 1:7 That the trial of your Faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto Praise and Honour and Glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. THE PROPER OBJECT OF FAITH The trial of the Believers Faith is a necessary and ongoing experience. But before we go into a discussion of the purpose and results of this testing, we need to always be sure that our Faith is resting upon the proper Foundation. The proper Foundation of Faith, that is, the proper Object of our Faith, must ever be Christ and Him Crucified. What Jesus accomplished for humanity on Calvary includes the forgiveness of sins past, but it is so much more. The relationship that any human being has with God is dependent upon what Christ accomplished 2,000 years ago. The ministry of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries is fond of stating this, Christ is the Source and the Cross is the Means. What this statement says in a nutshell is that everything we will ever need for eternal existence and well-being can be found in the Person of Christ. In other words, what Jesus did at Calvary was to open up the way for Heavens Blessings to be given to the Believer. We earn nothing. All things from Heavens Storehouse have already been paid for by Christ at Calvary. We cant bargain with God or boast in our ingenuity or resourcefulness. Our righteousness is as filthy rags and our personal efforts fall far short of gaining access to the Stores of Heaven. The Riches in Glory of Christ are in Christ Alone. They are made available to us as a result of the Covenant Jesus established for us at Calvary. So every trial of Faith must begin by the Believer assessing whether or not he is dependent upon what God has supplied. Christ and His Finished Work must ever be the sole Object of our Faith, or all else will come to nothing. THE PuRPOSE OF THE TEST Once it has been established that we are firmly planted on

the Foundation of Christ and Him Crucified, the Lord will begin the testing process. We must understand that just to hear and acknowledge something as truth does not necessarily mean that your Faith regarding that truth is genuine. As an example, I can agree that waiting on the Lord is a proper answer to some situations. I can agree that it is a Biblical concept. However, to find ones self in a position where waiting on the Lord is not just theology, but where it is necessary for you presents a trial of your Faith. Its easy to tell others to wait on the Lord, but what happens when your turn comes to do so? Can you wait on the Lord while taking no other action regarding your need? Is your soul at rest throughout the process? Are you fidgety, edgy, irritable to those around you? These circumstances reveal to the Believer whether their Faith is real or only in the mind. Faith that has passed the test, Faith that is genuine, is Faith that can be used. You can only walk in the approved portion of your Faith. So until you are applying what you believe to a real life situation, your faith is present in thought or theology only. But, when that Faith is placed under the microscope of a trial or test, one soon finds out whether or not they have Faith that will take them across the river, over the mountain, and to the desired Goal of God. Again, we can only walk or live in the approved portion of our Faith; Faith that has been tested and found genuine! THE RESuLTS OF THE TEST When Faith is truly present and it affects our lives in the way designated by God, Christ Alone will receive Glory. He is the Author and the Finisher of our Faith. He supplies the Means and the Way for us to hear His Word. He writes that truth on the tablet of our hearts. If we are willing and our Faith resides in the proper Object, He will give us Grace to travel through the testing of that Faith. And once that Faith has been proven genuine, once that portion of our Faith is approved, He will supply the Grace and the moving of the Spirit that will allow us to utilize

Greetings from the Crossfire Offices! LOOK TO THE CROSS AND LIVE (Part 2)
The LORD said to Moses, Make a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live (Num. 21:8).
As the Angels of the Lord, who were sent to clear the way of serpents, were removed because of unbelief, the serpents began to bite the people of God, with many that day perishing. This event could have been avoided, if only they would have continued to trust the Lord through their trial. These serpents were types of demon spirits, and they are seeking to destroy the people of God today. How many times do we find ourselves in situations contrary to the leading of the Holy Spirit due to our unbelief? How many problems have we experienced through our lives that could have been easily avoided? The only way that we can avoid these serpents is to ever keep our Faith in the Finished Work of Christ. We do this by understanding that everything that comes to us, comes by way of Calvary. THE SERPENT AND THE POLE As the serpents began biting the people, many began to cry out to Moses telling him to Pray unto the Lord, that He take away the serpents from us, which gives us the first and only recorded occasion on which the people directly asked for the intercession of Moses. Some have called the repentance of Verse Seven as an incomplete Repentance; however, God will hear the cry of anyone, no matter how feeble the effort may be on the part of the Child of God. The smallest request for Repentance from a wayward child will open the ears of Heaven! Hallelujah! Just one cry from a wayward soul will move the Lord of Glory to come to where they are, no matter where they may be, or how bad they have messed up. God will show up to rescue His children. LORD, IM SORRY! I want you to listen to me now, as I sense the Presence of

God so strongly as I write this article, no matter where you may be spiritually, or what you may have done, or how big of a fool you have made of yourself, the moment you look to Heaven and cry out for forgiveness, God will move Heaven and Earth just to reach out and grab you and bring you out of your mess, place you into His Righteousness once again, and wipe away every stain of sin! What a Mighty God we serve! What a Loving God we serve. All you have to do is say, Lord, Im sorry for my sins, and the way that Ive lived. Forgive me, wash me, and cleanse me from all unrighteousness, and He will hear your cry! Over four-hundred years earlier, the Lord showed Abraham the manner in which Salvation would be brought about, and that was through the death of an innocent animal (Gen., Chpt. 22), but did not show how this would be accomplished. He would reveal this to Moses by showing him the Serpent on the Pole. The Lord told Moses to make a fiery serpent of brass and place it on a pole, and the condition was that ANYONE who looked at the Pole would live. The serpent was a type of sin and Satan, which was the reason for the Cross. Understand this dear reader, the Lord Jesus Christ did not go to the Cross because of love, grace, or goodness; He went because of sin. Sin had to be addressed before anyone could live, and sin had to be paid for and atoned. That is the reason for the serpent. The Pole was a Type of the Cross. For it would be through the Death of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who would lay down His Life, to be a sin-offering for all of humanity. And because of His Spotless Life, all sin was addressed and atoned for; past, present, and future, at least for all who will believe (Jn. 3:16). LOOK TO THE CROSS AND LIVE Anyone that day who had been bitten by a serpent, all they had to do was look to that pole and they would live. What a miracle! Notice that Moses did not point them to the Tabernacle, nor did he point them to himself or Aaron, but rather the Serpent on the Pole. Likewise, we, as preachers of the Gospel, whom Moses and Aaron were a type, must always point people to the Cross of Jesus Christ! But sadly, many are being told to look to anything but the Cross of Christ. When this happens, people

will not live, but rather die. But when a person is told to look to the Cross, they will live. When a person places their Faith in the Cross of Jesus Christ, they pass from spiritual death to Spiritual Life. Also, I believe that there is every evidence that someone from the camp took the Serpent on the Pole and began to run through the camp shouting, LOOK AND LIVE! LOOK AND LIVE! We are doing the same thing today, telling the youth of this Nation and this World, LOOK TO THE CROSS AND YOU WILL LIVE! For the bite of the serpent will never be healed by anything other than the Cross of Christ. As the Serpent on the Pole was the only hope for Israel, the Cross of Christ is the only hope for humanity.

I awakened this morning and saw the Statue of Liberty crying. I noticed in the local paper an article about all the free dumb our educational system is creating. The new federal curriculum is designed to produce standardized outcomes of how our youth should not think, but behave?

FREE DUMBS!
I read how our Congress is debating the benefits of L.O.S.T. (Law Of the Sea Treaty) and how subscribing to L.O.S.T. will help us find our sovereignty? A new sovereignty that submits to a new international governing organization that controls the oceans and seas of the world. I reminisce how our country once had strong Unions working towards the rights of our labor force only to be corroded by corruption and supplanted by large business interests in globalization and profits; all the while forces in the U.S.A. are forming a new union, a North American Union, that will take control of the labor pool to work for large companies that must profit for their newly made wealthy Muslim investors. Yes, I can see its all about free trade. Well work, excuse me, volunteer for the greater benefit of mankind by giving up the Blessings God gave us when we lived under His Shadow of Protection. The lefts have taken our rights. But why should we sorrow? We still have our free dumbs. Am I not exercising my writes to express how I feel? Although very soon I will lose my rights to write and my big brother will say its in my best interest? CONSTITUTION Our great country only recognizes alien-able rights. The only part of our Constitution left is the Con. I suppose I should be happy for that? Just think I can still be Con-vinced our government knows whats best. I should Con-sider how important my service to the betterment of man will be when I no longer have a Con-science. I am sure that in place of wages for a job well done, I will be awarded Con-gratulations instead. Why, even the rights of those in our religious institutions can enjoy the free dumb, when these Con-verts are told they Con-go and live whatever way they desire, as long as it doesnt affect the prophets, excuse me again, profits of the few that benefit from our new society. THE RELIGIOUS ENTERTAINMENT FIX! Arbeit Macht Frei, Work Makes Free, was what the Jews were told as they entered the Concentration work camps. Today we are trained to embrace that freedom is our willingness to operate in our new global society by accepting whats best for us; meaningless entertainment, relentless sports programming, mega doses of Hollywood science fiction, and sexual promiscuity. Well, arent these the instructional

tools we need to function in a decadent society? Californias Supreme Court just passed legislation allowing same sex marriages beginning June 17, 2008. The mystical body of Christ on the Earth spends most of its time in contemplative mystic prayer. Instead of contemplating the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, they engage in mystical prayer, and meetings with lying signs and wonders. Gold dust blown off by Angel wings and magical diamonds appearing are the claims that draw the free dumb for an entertainment fix in Lakeland, Florida. Or, should we call it Deception-land Florida? In all seriousness, the condition of the Church is one of a drunkard who lost its senses and now is dull of hearing and stumbling in the dark. The forces of evil seem to find ways to remove what little light is left in the world and soon even the shadows will be totally dark. The good news is God has always raised up a testimony before He sends Judgment. I am reminded of Enochs son Methuselah, whose very name means, after the deluge, indicating after his death would come the flood. Noah received instruction to build an ark in the presence of a perverse generation as a testimony of the Judgment of God to come. REPETITIOUS WARNINGS Abraham would petition the Lord to spare Sodom and Gomorrah for just a few righteous people. God would send two Angels to take the righteous out and then send Judgment upon the unbelievers. Moses would be a testimony to both Gods People and Egypt that the One True and Living God is God. With great miraculous signs and wonders of plagues, God would display His Power for Judgment, and Grace to lead towards Repentance. Ultimately God rescued His People and destroyed the rebellious Egyptians. God has always sent repetitious warnings and testimonies of His coming Judgments in hopes to elicit Repentance. Is the direction our country is heading, a testimony towards the ripening Judgment of God? Can this be a sign to us in the Church that God is allowing a nation that rejects Him to be swallowed up in its own destructive will? Jesus said (Mat. 11:23) that Sodom would blush in comparison to what Capernaum would receive in Judgment, because of the signs and wonders they saw and experienced. Our great country of America has experienced great and mighty Blessings from God. The Church is called to be a light to the world. Today the flame that brightly burned in the Church is being extinguished by the winds of worldly doubt and selfishness. GLOBAL GIANTS? Just the other day I heard President Bush say, We are going to make a democracy out of Iraq. I suppose that this is what he concludes victory to be. That would be a great and beautiful thing if it could be done. But Im concerned that the President doesnt understand the religion of Islam. A fundamentalist Muslim nation such as Iraq, coupled with democracy, presents an oxymoron. In other words, it is impossible to make a democracy out of a country that is fundamentalist Islam. And please understand, Islam is a religion, so that brings me to the next thought. It is the religion of Islam that is fighting us. We are not fighting it, but it most definitely is fighting us. Why? Islam sees Christianity as the only hindrance to its efforts of world domination. So it might be said that the Muslim world hates us simply because there are millions of Christians in America, and that means that their hatred is really against the Lord Jesus Christ. They might claim that they respect our Lord, but actually they do not. Benjamin Netanyahu, who was the ninth Prime Minister of Israel, said it well. He said, The Muslims hate us because of the age-old conflict. He then said, The Muslims hate you because of Jesus Christ. He is right! NO LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL It would be a thrilling, wonderful thing if the people of Iraq would adopt the democratic process; however, the chances of that are very slim. Their religion simply wont allow it. So this means, that ten years from now, or longer, we will still be pouring money into Iraq, presently some four billion dollars ($4,000,000,000) a week and, as well,

spilling the blood of our young men and young ladies, which now numbers well over 4,000. Our government seems to think this situation is identical to all the other political and military situations that we have faced as a nation. It isnt! As stated, it is a religion, and its a religion that is opposing us, even though we arent opposing it. To be frank, we ought to be opposing it, but we arent! As we are going, there is no light at the end of this tunnel. WHAT DO WE DO? The first thing we might do is understand that we cannot continue on with what we are presently doing. Its been five years now with no end in sight. As somebody has well said: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. The greatest thing the Church can do, is to pray that the Lord will give wisdom to our leaders so that we dont keep doing the same thing over and over, which is obvious to all that its not working. Are we staying there because of oil? Despite the hue and cry of many in this nation, and considering the world situation, with further consideration that Iraq has the second highest oil reserves in the world, oil might be a legitimate reason. But even if we spent tens of billions of dollars bringing oil production up to its potential, do we have enough soldiers to guard the hundreds of wells that need to be drilled and the hundreds of miles of pipelines to transport the oil? Last year Iraq produced about seventy billion dollars ($70,000,000,000) worth of oil. What happened to the seventy billion dollars? Somebody said, and rightly so, Why wasnt that money used to re-build the infrastructure of Iraq thats been destroyed through war, and we speak of bridges, roads, hospitals, etc.? Instead, American taxpayer dollars are rebuilding the infrastructure of Iraq. Something is wrong here! Quite possibly there was a day that we could afford such stupidity, but weve reached the place economically

in this nation to where we can no longer afford such blunders. If the oil is not a reason to stay, then we should get out. Every Muslim nation in the world hates us because we are in Iraq. We must remember that the religion of Islam is not our friend. Pure and simple, they hate us! Unfortunately, thats not going to change. I realize thats quite a statement, but I most definitely believe it to be true. Her Birthday will be August the 9th. A desire to see God glorified through the preaching of Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, as people repent and accept the free Gift of Eternal Life and forgiveness of sins, was the foundation of evangelism. Today the entire denominational and charismatic church world has teamed up with businesses, governments, universities, and other institutions in a coalition to bring P.E.A.C.E. to the planet. The P.E.A.C.E. project launched in May at Saddleback church by Rick Warren and his publicist Larry Ross, who met with pastors, political leaders, and business leaders to prepare the world for P.E.A.C.E. P.E.A.C.E. is an acronym for Promote reconciliation; Equip servant leaders; Assist the poor; Care for the sick; and Educate the next generation. Coalition members see these actions as Jesus antidote to five global giants problems that affect billions of people worldwide: spiritual emptiness, self-centered leadership, poverty, pandemic disease, and illiteracy, according to Warren. MODEL OF MINISTRY? For the last several years Warren & company have been testing PEACE and are now ready to launch, what Warren claims, will lead to the next reformation. A long term plan that may take up to 50 years to fulfill. The design and goal of P.E.A.C.E., which is a massive, long range effort to mobilize one billion Christians in local churches around the world to copy Jesus model of ministry. What audacity for Warren to think his P.E.A.C.E. plan is a model of ministry. His emphasis is for the churches themselves to receive glory instead of God. Warren explained how his members used to hand-deliver care packages to kids in Third World villages through a para-church organization. Saddleback members felt good about it, but the plan ignored and devalued the long-term ministry of the local indigenous churches. Now every project is done through local churches, insuring that those churches are strengthened, receive the credit and are seen as the heroes in their communities. Warren uses the analogy, At a wedding the bride is the main character, the center, the star of the show everyone else is supporting cast, but the glory goes to the bride. The P.E.A.C.E. Plan is built on the same principle. The Bride of Christ of which the church is its local expression around the world deserves the focus, the credit and the glory for faithfully serving their communities year after year. As usual, with Warren theres little or no mention of sin, Repentance, and Salvation as the focus of his missionary work. If it is part of his social work at all, its only peripheral and not the main subject. Instead of people being led to Jesus Christ Himself and to depend upon Him, they are led to man and become dependent upon man. THE CROSS The Message of the Cross is Gods Revelation to the Church in this hour. The curtain is closing and the stage will soon be set for the next phase of Gods Plan. The Cross stands as the Testimony of Gods Mercy and Grace towards all who will accept it. To those who reject the Cross, it stands as a testimony against their sin and rebellion. We must preach the Cross. For I am determined to know nothing among you save Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.
