Non-verbal Communication
Non-verbal communication have a greater impact than verbal communication since how you say something is sometimes more important than what you say. Non-verbal communication can affect both personal and business relationships; it is particularly important in the workplace. Non verbal communication on the other hand may be defined as communication without words. It refers to any way of conveying meanings without the use of verbal language. The game of dumb charades is a perfect example.

Example: Prasads boss had asked him to make a presentation on the suggestions of improving the organization. Prasad was very excited and presented all his new ideas on the presentation.

Since the presentation started, the boss started acting differently. He yawned repeatedly . he sat back casually and looked out of the window. At the end of the

presentation, he rose up abruptly from his chair, saying thank you for your ideas in an angry voice. He gave a curt handshake to Prasad.

In Prasads case, the boss through his non verbal behavior conveys a message beyond the spoken word which he does not really want to hear the suggestions. Therefore while the spoken or written words may be perfect, the non verbal aspects could convey the exact opposite meaning.
