DripClean Irrigation Line Cleaner It is a 100% Organic product consisting of Carboxylates derived from lignin, specifically formulated for cleaning of irrigation equipment drip lines and emitters. It can be used on a regular basis to prevent build up of scale in drip lines and clogging of emitters. The product also has beneficial effect on water and soil pH thus ensuring not only maximum delivery of mineral nutrition but also their uptake by plants, respectively. Technical Specifications: Formulation Colour : Liquid : Brownish black H bond receptors : 10 nos Density : 1.2 @ 20oC

Molecular weight : 528.61 gm/mol

Why should the irrigation equipment be cleaned? Drip irrigation and Sprinkler irrigation systems are used intermittently. The intermittent use allows water to stagnate in the delivery lines. The stagnation of water coupled with the fertilizer which is used for fertigation leads to:

Scale formation The salts in the water precipitate and stick to the inner surface of the delivery lines, drippers and sprinkler nozzles

Over a period of time, the scale formation reduces the inner diameter of the delivery lines, block the drippers and sprinkler nozzles leading to:

Abnormal flow rate of water through the irrigation system leading to Irregular discharge of water some areas are wetted too much while other areas remain dry.

Reduced delivery of nutrients as the dissolved nutrients tend to adhere to the scale deposit within the pipes. In severe cases, the irrigation system bursts due to the internal water pressure. For the above reasons it is necessary to undertake periodic cleaning of the irrigation system. DripCleanTM ensures optimum cleaning of the irrigation system. How DripClean works? 1. Due to the chelating property, DripCleanTM dissolves the salt deposits accumulated in the irrigation system and carries them out of the system. 2. These chelated minerals act as a source of nutrients to the plants. 3. When regularly used, the highly acidic nature of DripCleanTM does not allow microbial growth inside the irrigation system. Additional Advantages: DripClean stabilizes water and soil pH. DripClean contains only NOP & OMRI listed ingredients and can be used in Organic Farming along with most of the commonly used fertilizers. DripClean helps to release bound nutrients in alkaline soils DripClean is classified as Non-Corrosive by DOT standards. This enhances the life of the various irrigation system. DripClean is safe to handle, does not burn the skin and is not harmful to environment With DripClean, the irrigation system remains operational during the cleaning process.

DripClean minimizes the water wastage during and after the cleaning procedure Due to the chelating action of DripClean, the dissolved minerals remain in chelated form and do not acidify the soil and water. The conventional Irrigation System Cleaner, on the other hand, do not possess the above advantages of DripClean. Suggested application rates of DripClean Apply at the rate of 250 ml/Acre to be applied through the Micr0-irrigation system.

Precautions: 1. Read and follow all instructions on the label and leaflet very carefully and have the container with label available to show to the physician when required. 2. Do not eat, drink or smoke when applying the product. 3. Wash hands and feet thoroughly after application is completed. 4. Call a physician incase symptoms of poisoning occur.

First Aid If eyes are contaminated, flush eyes with plenty of water. In case of spillage on body parts, wash the body part with soap and water. If swallowed, induce vomiting. Do not induce vomiting if the patient is unconscious. Call a physician.

Generalized Method of Application of DripClean -1

This general method can be followed in situations where the irrigation water exhibits a normal or near normal pH factor.

Recommended dose: 250 ml DripClean per acre

DripClean can be easily tank mixed with most of the water soluble fertilizers routinely used in fertigation applications. However, incase of doubt, the user is advised to conduct a compatibility test before preparing the final solution. For initial cleaning:

1. Run the irrigation system as usual. 2. About 10-15 mins before the end of the system run cycle, introduce DripClean into the fertilizer mix. The run cycle is the time for which the user normally runs the system. 3. Shut down the system at the end of the system run cycle. 4. Injecting DripClean at the end of the run cycle ensures that the water remaining in the system is loaded with DripClean . This allows the product to carry out the cleaning activity of the salt deposits. 5. Allow at least 35-40 mins interval before starting the system again. A longer interval is preferred. 6. Start the system after the 35-40 minutes interval or as per your schedule. There is no need to open the end caps on the sub-mains or the laterals. This allows the DripClean treated water to pass through the drippers or sprinklers and clean the nozzles too.

Depending on the salt deposition within the system and the frequency at which the system might have been cleaned earlier, the above procedure may require to be implemented at 7-10 days interval for the initial 2-3 times.

For subsequent cleaning after the initial cleaning operations :

1. Run the irrigation system as usual. 2. Introduce DripClean into the fertilizer mix and inject into the system as per normal procedure. 3. Shut down the system as usual at the end of the system run cycle.

In both the above methods of application, there is no need to wash out the treated water as DripClean is an ORGANIC product and does not have any detrimental effect on crops.

Dosage Calculation of DripClean When irrigation Water is Highly Alkaline

The following method is required to be followed in situations where the irrigation water is highly alkaline (extremely hard water containing very high content of calcium and magnesium salts). Step 1.Take 1 Ltr of irrigation water. Measure (in ml) the quantity of DripClean required to bring the pH down to 4 (for treatment the water should normally be at pH4)

Viz: 1 ml of DripClean is required per ltr water to bring pH to 4 Step 2. Note down the time required (in mins) from pump start to emission of water from last dripper in the system.

Viz: Time required is 15 mins

Step 3. Next calculate the suction rate of the system component through which the DripClean will be introduced into the system by using the following formula

Suction Rate (IR): Nominal flow rate* x Qty of DripClean reqd to achieve pH4 (ml) * This is mentioned (in m3/hr) on the filter element of the system OR Suction Rate (IR): Flow rate (m3/hr) x Qty of DripClean reqd to achieve pH4 (ml) Viz: For a mango orchard with 100 trees and 4 nos of 4 Lph (litres per hour) drippers per tree the system will discharge 100 x 4 x 4 = 1600 ltrs water per hour i.e. (1600/1000) m3/hr = 1.6 m3/hr Flow Rate

Thus Suction rate = 1.6 x 1 = 1.6 Ltrs/hr.

Step 4. Now for calculation of quantity of DripClean required for treating the above system in the mango orchard

Divide the suction rate by 60 (1 hr = 60 mins) to know the suction rate per minute and multiply this value by the time interval noted in Step #2

Viz:

Suction

rate

1.6

Ltrs/hr

i.e.

0.026

Ltrs/min

Therefore in 15 mins = 15 mins x 0.026 ltrs/min = 0.390 Ltrs i.e. 390-400 ml

Thus we need to use 400 ml of DripCleanto treat the above system in the mango orchard.

The following components are normally used to inject the various additives in the system

1. Inline Fertigation tank 2. Ventury

In the above case, the component which is going to be used to inject the product into the system has to be calibrated by trial and error method to achieve a suction of the required quantity of DripClean in the time interval required from pump start to emission from last emitter in system. This can be done using plain water.
