Christmas webquest

PROJECT INTRO I am Claudia Gomez, a class member of 1 socials sciences. I am writing this report because this is a project Christmas for my vacancies. This project is about how celebrate Christmas in Finland, Belgium and Italy. METHOD When I read the project I read the entire page of Christmas task. Then I searched information about how the other countries celebrate Christmas and chose the countries which I preferred. FINDINGS Finland: Everybody's house is given a very good clean in readiness for Christmas. Hours are spent in the kitchen cooking and baking special treats for the festive season. Fir trees are felled, tied onto sleds, and taken home to be decorated. the Christmas dinner, which is served at 5-7 in the evening, Christmas gifts may be given out before or after the dinner. Santa Claus comes in person, often accompanied by as many as half a dozen Christmas elves to distribute the presents. Finnish people believe that Santa Claus or Father Christmas lives in the north part of Finland called Korvatunturi (or Lapland), north of the Arctic Circle. On Finland we can visit de Santa Clauss village. Belgium: children in Belgium have two Christmas visitors! On December 6th, St. Nicholas' Day, 'Sinterklaas/St. Niklaas' (Flemish) or 'Saint Nicholas' (Walloon) is believed to bring presents to children. This is quite a long time before Christmas. Different regions of Belgium have different customs and traditions about St. Nicholas. On Christmas day (25th), Santa Claus might bring some more presents if you're really lucky! December 6th is the birthday of St. Nicholas when he visits all the children and presents gifts to them. The French speaking people are visited by Pere Noel. Another Belgian custom is to go out to skate on December 25 after the familiar food. Italy: Although Babbo Natale (Father Christmas) and giving presents on Christmas are becoming more common, the main day for gift giving is Epiphany, the 12th day of Christmas when the three Wise Men gave Baby Jesus their gifts. In Italy, presents are brought by La Befana, who arrives in the night to fill children's stockings. During the period preceding the real holydays is a tradition to set up the "Presepe" (Crib) and the Christmas tree. The "Presepe" (Crib) is the exact reproduction, by means of small statues, of scenes regarding Jesus birth, while the tree is a fir, real or fake, decorated with coloured balls and multicoloured lights. Always as a tradition the "Presepe" (Crib) and the tree are set up on December 8th , the day of the Immacolata (the day the Virgin Mary is celebrated) and put away in the evening of next year on January 6th. It gets used to eating lentils in New Year's Eve in order that in the new year the money is never absent. MY PLAN On December 6th, St. Nicholas' Day, is believed to bring presents to children. (Belgium) Visit de Santa Clauss village. (Finland) Go out to skate on December 25 after the familiar food. (Belgium) Presents by La Befana (Italy)
