AERO 5100

AERO 5100 promoter is based on novel functionalized thionocarbamate chemistry developed by Cytec Industries after intensive R&D efforts. Extensively evaluated and /or in commercial use at a number of operating locations around the world, AERO 5100 promoter has demonstrated the potential for significantly reducing lime and collector requirements with many ores, while achieving an equal or superior grade / recovery performance as compared to the standard reagents in use. This collector is particularly effective in its ability to selectively float copper-activated sphalerite, copper sulfides, nickel sulfides, sulfidized oxides, native copper and precious metals from their respective ores in the nominal pH range 7-11.

promoter

Principal Use
Proven especially effective for the flotation of copperactivated sphalerite: rapid flotation kinetics, greatly improved concentrate grades and excellent recovery. Flotation of copper, nickel and cobalt sulfides. Flotation of ores containing gold /silver and PGMs. Selective copper flotation from copper / lead /zinc complex ores. Can be used in conjunction with traditional sulfide collectors to achieve improved metallurgical performance.

Advantages
Very high selectivity against pyrite, pyrrhotite, unactivated sphalerite and galena in mildly alkaline circuits. Under appropriate conditions can be selective against arsenic and antimony sulfide minerals. Significant reduction in lime dosage. Rapid flotation kinetics especially of coarse middlings. Improved metals recovery. Less sensitive to pulp potential changes than xanthate.

Typical Properties
Appearance Specific Gravity Viscosity, Brookfield LVT Spindle #2 @ 60 rpm Freezing Point Yellow to amber, clear liquid 0.990.01 @ 25C (78F) 5-15 cps @ 20C (68F) Does not freeze and remains readily pourable at temperatures as low as -30C (-22F) Good Non-conductor

Treatment Level
Dosage rates of this strong collector are usually in the range 5-30 g / t. Stage addition aids performance.

Freeze-thaw Stability Conductivity

Application
Since AERO 5100 promoter is not soluble in water it must be fed as is (undiluted) to the mill and / or float. Stage addition may be beneficial. This collector does not require a long conditioning time and is very stable and effective over a wide pulp pH range. In some cases AERO 5100 promoter may cause too heavy a froth which may be corrected by a small addition of a dithiophosphate collector such as AEROFLOAT 208 or 238 prometers.

Caution
Do not mix AERO 5100 promoter with any other reagent or chemical without first obtaining the assurance of the manufacturer(s) that this would not present a safety hazard.

Storage and Handling

AERO 5100 promoter is a flammable liquid. Provide adequate ventilation since vapors are heavier than air and may accumulate to form a fire hazard. Do not heat with an open flame or place in the presence of an ignition source or contact it with an oxidizing material with which it may react. The material should be stored in a cool, well ventilated area away from any sources of ignition. If product is spilled, remove sources of ignition, cover with an absorbent material, sweep up and place in a properly covered waste disposal container. Flush area with water and dispose of properly. AERO 5100 promoter can be stored in stainless steel, mild steel, cast iron, HD polyethylene, HD polypropylene, Teflon type materials and phenolic or epoxy thermosetting materials. Do not use copper, brass, aluminum, rubber, PVC or tygon tubing in feed or storage systems.
