MATTHEW 13: 53-58

53 When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. 54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked.

MATTHEW 13: 53-58

55 "Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" 57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them,

"Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor." 58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

LUKE 4: 32

14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He taught in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he

went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read... 28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw

him down the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

LUKE 4: 32

31 Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath began to teach the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his message had authority.

FEAR OF THE LORD IS TO...

IMMEDIATE & ACCURATE OBEDIENCE "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son." | Genesis 22: 12

SEEK TO UNDERSTAND HIM & HIS DESIRES, HIS PERCEPTION OF THINGS To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. | Proverbs 8: 13

WHY IS THE SIN OF FAMILIARITY BAD & HARMFUL TO US?

The absence of miracles and his teachings was to leave them full of themselves, with their current and old stories.
