<< Back to CSI Library In addition to his work with the CSI Comic Books, Max Allan Collins has published several novelizations of CSI. He has written eight of the eleven released books.

CSI: Double Dealer by: Max Allan Collins Published: November 2001 Meet the little known and even less understood heroes of police work in Las Vegas--the forensic investigators. Led by veteran Gil Grissom, the remarkable team assigned to the Criminalistics Bureau's graveyard shift--including Catherine Willows, Warrick Brown, Nick Stokes, and Sara Sidle-must combine cutting-edge scientific methods and old-fashioned savvy as they work to untangle the evidence behind the yellow police tape. While Nick and Catherine investigate a newly-discovered fifteen-yearold murder, Grissom and the rest of the team must uncover the identity of a cold-blooded killer--one whose execution-style, "doubletap" signature has provoked the interest of FBI agent Rick Culpepper. CSI: Cold Burn by: Max Allan Collins Published: April 2003 Remote. Peaceful. Picturesque. That's how the Mumford Mountain Hotel bills itself in its brochure, and it lives up to its billing--most of the time. But this year, the hotel is hosting a prestigious conference for the study of forensic science, and the organizers have extended CSI head Gil Grissom an invitation he can't refuse. Joined by fellow investigator Sara Sidle, Grissom leaves the department in the capable hands of Catherine Willows and heads east. But he and Sara soon find themselves in all too familiar territory--and back in Las Vegas, Catherine, Warrick Brown, and Nick Stokes have uncovered trouble of their own.

CSI: Sin City by: Max Allan Collins Published: October 2002 Lynn Pierce seemed to be a devout Christian, devoted wife and mother--but she left behind a tape recording of her husband threatening to cut her into little pieces. Jenna Patrick was a professional stripper trying to get out of the sex trade and into junior college. Instead, she wound up strangled to death in a locked room in the club where she worked. Join Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, Warrick Brown, Nick Stokes, and Sara Sidle as they try to uncover the seemingly insignificant clues that will unravel the mysteries behind the murders--and reveal the secret lives lived in the seediest and saintliest sides of Sin City.

CSI: Body of Evidence by: Max Allan Collins November 2003 Early one quiet Monday morning, in an empty executive office, assistant Janice Denard begins to prepare for another ordinary day -- but instead discovers evidence of horrific crimes, shocking photographs left abandoned in a printer. Now, with the help of the LVPD's computer forensics experts, the CSI team must track through hardware and software, deception and deceit to find the perpetrators. But while Willows and Stokes investigate the once well-hidden secrets now revealed in print, Grissom, Brown, and Sidle uncover new and disturbing evidence in a highprofile media case . . . the brutal murder of the Mayor's long-missing secretary.

CSI: Grave Matters by: Max Allan Collins Published: October 2004 Rebecca Bennett, the estranged stepdaughter of a well-to-do Las Vegas businessman, is hounding the Las Vegas Police Department to reopen the investigation into her mother Rita's death alleging that, despite appearances to the contrary, Rebecca's greedy stepfather actually played a hand in Rita Bennett's untimely end. But no one is prepared for the news that CSIs Gil Grissom, Sara Sidle, and Nick Stokes reporttheir investigation is inconclusive . . . because the disinterred deceased is not Rita Bennett. Meanwhile, at the Sunny Day Continuing Care Facility, Catherine Willows and Warrick Brown must investigate the sudden demise of Vivian Elliota patient whose death may be the result of unnatural causes. . . .

CSI: Binding Ties by: Max Allan Collins Published: April 2005 Ten years ago, Las Vegas was terrorized by "CAST" a vicious serial killer responsible for nearly half a dozen brutal murders, and who tested the mettle of the LVPD's new Captain, Jim Brass. After a two-year spree, CAST suddenly disappeared and has not been heard from . . . until now. Gil Grissom and his CSI team are called in to investigate a homicide that perfectly fits the notorious criminal's modus operandi. But all hell breaks loose when a reporter made famous by the original cases receives a letter from someone claiming to be CASTand who says he has nothing to do with the latest slaying. Now the CSIs must stop someone who may be a copycat killer from striking again. . . . even as a murderer from the past continues to evade capture, and isn't taking too kindly to rivals. . . .

CSI: Killing Game by: Max Allan Collins Published: November 2005 The machinations of a new supervisor may have altered Gil Grissom's team of skillful CSIs, as Catherine Willows, Nick Stokes, and Warrick Brown are reassigned from the graveyard shift to the swing shift. That doesn't mean, however, that their paths will never cross. During the course of their separate investigations, the teams must unite again to investigate two distinct murders-atrocities that are oddly aligned as they share much of the same collective evidence. Despite the different M.O.s, the CSIs are uncovering two wildly imperfect crimes that could possibly add up to an almost perfect one. . . .

CSI: Snake Eyes by: Max Allan Collins Published: September 2006 Luck is on the side of most during the incident at the Four Kings Hotel & Casino, when the simmering tension between two rival biker gangs suddenly boils over into all-out violencemiraculously, there are only two fatalities despite the hundreds of rounds fired on the casino floor. Called to an out-of-control crime scenelocated outside Las Vegas in the legendary town of Boot Hillforensic investigators Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, Nick Stokes, and Sara Sidle quickly discover that the two casino shoot-out victims were no innocent bystanders: one was the powerful leader of the Predator gang, and the other a luckless card dealer who may have borne witness to an elaborately staged execution. Meanwhile, back in the glitter of Sin City, CSIs Warrick Brown and Greg Sanders have their own hands full, as the dark side of this desert metropolis is about to wreak havoc on the two investigators via a seemingly endless series of crimes . . . CSI: Nevada Rose by: Jerome Preisler Published: June 2008 "Nevada Rose" Demille was one of the most beautiful and desired sports groupies in Las Vegas, a fixture at the trendiest casinos and clubs on the Strip. But the endless party came to a tragic end the morning her nude body was found bound and gagged in her home. As crime scene investigators Catherine Willows and Warrick Brown dig deeper, all roads (and a growing media circus) lead to Mark Baker -- a.k.a. "The Fireball" -- a hard-throwing, Cooperstown-bound major-league pitcher and fancier of gorgeous women who recently conducted a very public affair with one "Nevada Rose" Demille....Meanwhile, miles away on the grounds of a world-class championship golf course, Gil Grissom is probing the macabre discovery of a John Doe -- an intense investigation that will unearth a bitter sibling rivalry twisted by jealousy and distrust over a "Nevada Rose" of a very different nature.... CSI: Brass in Pocket by: Jeff Mariotte Published: August 2009 Far From the Glittering lights and 24/7 spectacle of the strip, the Las Vegas Crime Lab Team of investigators is gearing up for a rough night ahead.A brutal shooting at a cheap motel may be business as usual for CSI's Catherine Willows and Nick Stokes, but as they process the crime scene and quickly identify the Victim as a noted local Private Investigator, nothing could prepare them for the shock of finding physical Evidence belonging to none other then Detective Jim Brass.Meanwhile CSI's Greg Sander's and Riley Adam's are called to a nearby airport where they must face the ultimate locked room mystery, how a pilot flying solo in a small private plane wound up murdered while miles above the ground...

CSI: In Extremis by: Ken Goddard Published: Oct. 2007 A ruthless and expertly trained contract killer is on assignment in Nevada's remote Desert National Wildlife Range...and he deliberately sets in motion a series of seemingly unconnected events that will soon test the skills of Gil Grissom and his team of CSIs -Catherine Willows, Nick Stokes, Warrick Brown, Sara Sidle, and Greg Sanders -- to their limit. For all is not as it appears in this federal refuge, as law enforcement and lawbreakers alike are quickly caught up in a growing crime scene that leads to a deadly game of one-upmanship....

CSI: Headhunter by: Greg Cox Published: October 2008 A package bearing no return address arrives at the Anthropology Department of the University of. Nevada...and a shocking discovery is made upon opening the box: a genuine shrunken head. At first, Gil Grissom and his team of crime scene investigators -Catherine Willows, Warrick Brown, Nick Stokes, and Greg Sanders -- consider this merely an oddity, a grisly relic from the past. But when all the evidence points to the fact that it's really the result of a gruesome modern-day murder, suspicions run high that a brutal serial killer with an unorthodox modus operandi may now be on the loose....
