Helter Skelter Legwarmers Pattern

This is a fun pattern for the colder months legwarmers have been all over the high street in 2010, and this pattern is a fun and quick knit that looks great on. This yarn feels gorgeous against your skin, and is warm without being heavy. An added detail comes with the cables twisting in opposite directions on each leg. Yarn used: SIRDAR Peru alpaca wool blend yarn, colour 305 Blanket Blue 3x 50g balls used, each ball approx 90m long (see photo at end) Any Arran weight yarn would work with this pattern, but gauge may be different so bear this in mind. This is a very forgiving pattern and Ive used many different yarn types to good effect Needles: 5.5mm 14 circular needle, cable needle and large sewing needle for weaving in ends Gauge: 14 stitches of cable pattern to 3 using 5.5mm needles Making the leg warmers: LEFT LEG: Cast on 60 stitches being careful not to twist the sts, place stitch marker and join for knitting in the round Rnd 1: *K2, p2, repeat from * to the end of the first round Work in 2x2 rib as above for 2 inches/ 5cm Next rnd: *K13, k2tog, repeat from * to end (56 stitches) Start cable pattern: Cable pattern: Rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: *p3, k8, p3, repeat from * to end of round Round 3: *p3, slip 4 stitches onto CN and hold to the back, k4, k4 from CN, p3, repeat from * to end of round Repeat cable pattern twice more (3 cables in total)

Finishing Off: Change to work in 2x2 rib (*K2, p2) for 2 inches / 5cm CO loosely and remove stitch marker

RIGHT LEG: Work the same as for LEFT LEG, but in cable pattern in round 3, instead of holding stitches on the cable needle to the BACK, hold to the FRONT, so that the cable twists in the opposite direction as shown in the cable chart: Right Leg Cabled Pattern Rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: *p3, k8, p3, repeat from * to end of round Round 3: *p3, slip 4 stitches to CN and hold to FRONT, k4, k4 from CN, p3, repeat from * to end of round
