INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURES
Industrial structures present many unique problems compounded

by

their

challenging

environments.

Tyfo Fibrwrap advanced composite Systems provide a fast, durable resolution to problems that might otherwise have high shut-down costs. For the past 20 years, Fibrwrap has been used extensively to retrofit reinforced concrete support structures such as pipe racks, equipment structures, pedestals, coker units and many more. Strengthening applications typically include seismic retrofit, corrosion mitigation, change-of-use, protection from aggresive environments and design/ construction error remediation. Other structures that have used Fibrwrap include industrial chimneys, silos, tanks, pressure vessels and pipelines.

Tyfo Advantages for Industrial Applications

Speed of Installation Small crew size Low impact to facility function Constructible in limited space and often without the need for shutdown Regain original strength of structure or additional structural capacity Extends the life of the structure No hot-work Corrosion mitigation and extended durability of structure Very safe application process Tyfo Fibrwrap advanced composite Systems present many advantages to an owner as seen above, but possibly the most important is the low impact on facility production.

STRENGTHENING OF OVERSTRESSED SUPPORT STRUCTURES

The Tyfo SCH-41 System was used to strengthen the existing columns, beams and beam-column connections in order to comply with current seismic detailing requirements. The existing reinforced concrete required major repairs prior to the installation of the Tyfo SCH-41 System. After removing all of the unsound concrete, the sections needed to be rebuilt to regain their original section shape. The trained, certified applicator performed all of the required repairs and strengthening during normal operations, and worked closely with the facility to remove and replace obstacles. Areas that needed to be worked around required special detailing.

SEISMIC RETROFIT OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS

The Tyfo Fibrwrap system was applied to critical structural beams in this Water treatment plant to provide additional strength. In this case the beams had to be strengthened to meet seismic requirements. Fibrwrap products have been utilized for thousands of seismic improvement projects over the past 20 years. One key advantage for this type of upgrade is that the Tyfo products are very low profile, most often measuring between 1/8 and 1/4 total depth. In industrial environments, such as a water treatment plant, many times the footprint of a strengthening system is the driving factor and Tyfo Systems are ideal for facilities with limited space for structural upgrade.

REHABILITATION OF CORRODED OR DISTRESSED MEMBERS

Tyfo products include a full line of polymer modified cement products, and a complete concrete repair system. These products have been specially designed to provide state-of-the art repairs to areas with degradation or prolific corrosion. The Tyfo Concrete Repair System includes: Tyfo 103 Tyfo CIS Layer 1 Tyfo CIS Layer 2

Epoxy specially formulated for crack injection. Corrosion Inhibitor which permeates the concrete and protects rebar. Penetrates the surface purges chlorides and densifies concrete. Cement Bonding Agent which sets up adhesive layer for Concrete. Polymer Modified Concrete for vertical and overhead surfaces. Polymer Modified Concrete for form and pour applications.

The Tyfo Concrete Repair system can also be used in conjunction with Tyfo Fibrwrap products. Testing has proven that Fibrwrap products will protect areas of repair and arrest corrosion. Extend the life of concrete by adding Tyfo Fibrwrap.

PROTECTION FROM AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENTS

Industrial facilities present many challenges including chemicals, temperature, and forces, and in certain cases, regulatory compliance. Tyfo Fibrwrap products have excellent durability factors and chemical resistance properties. In addition, Fyfe Company has a complete offering of top coatings to enhance the durability of the Fibrwrap These coatings have been specially formulated as a part of our systems, and can add chemical resistance, better performance in higher temperatures, and protection from UV. For facilities which require NSF/ANSI 61 certified products, Tyfo products also include a top coating, Tyfo PWC, which has this approval.

FORCE PROTECTION & BLAST HARDENING

Protection of human life and assets is the first priority in any manufacturing environment. In certain facilities the threat of spontaneous blast events poses constant challenges. Tyfo Fibrwrap products can be used to strengthen buildings and structural members to guard against structural failure in the case of an overpressure event. Control rooms, Maintenance Buildings, and other structures which house employees in hazardous areas are prime candidates for a Tyfo hardening system.

TYFO FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS

Fyfe Company manufactures the only Fiber Reinforced Polymer products available with Fire Protection which include a Class I Flame and Smoke, 2-hour UL Listed assembly, and 4-hour UL listed assembly. These products are exclusive to the Tyfo product line and include: Tyfo AFP (Advanced Fire Protection) Tyfo 4HFL (Low Profile)

In cases where Tyfo Fire Protection is required, Fyfe Company also includes consultation with an in-house expert to assist in addressing any requirements associated with fireproofing over Tyfo products. The Tyfo Fire Protection systems are easily applied by Fibrwrap installation crews, who have extensive experience installing these products. Within industrial environments typically Tyfo FC/F is applied when Fire Protection is a factor. It combines durability with ease of application which is key for reducing any downtime or impact on the facility. Tyfo Fire Protection systems provide proven solutions to meet almost any requirement.
