DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY
ASSAM AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, JORHAT 785 013 SYNOPSIS SEMINAR (Date: 01-10-2011, Time: 11.00 a.m.) Title: Intercropping of oilseed crops with oat fodder under rainfed condition. Presented by: Ms. Priyanka Amonge Major Advisor: Dr. J.K. Saikia Roll No. : 2011-AMJ-23 Professor ABSTRACT Land utilized for fodder cultivation in Assam is very negligible i.e. only 3,000 ha(B.N.Chatterjee and P.K. Das,1989) and production of green fodder is also limited, which is not at all sufficient for the livestocks. Therefore, our aim is to increase green fodder production per unit of land per unit time through suitable row proportion for intercropping oat fodder and oilseed crops under rainfed condition. Keeping the above mentioned objectives an experiment is to be conducted in ICR farm AAU, Jorhat on a net area of 600 sqm approximately, total no. of plots 33 and size of each plot 4m3m with 11 nos of treatments having 3 replication in Randomized block design(RBD). Different treatments that are to be followed are T1,T2 & T3 as sole crop oat, linseed and toria respectively . T4 = Oat + Linseed (1:1) , T5 = Oat + Linseed (2:1) , T6 = Oat + Linseed (2:2) , T7 = Oat + Linseed (3:1) , T8 = Oat + Toria (1:1) , T9 = Oat + Toria (2:2) , T10 = Oat + Toria (2:2) ,T11 = Oat + Toria (3:1) .Observations before and at the time of harvest such as physiochemical properties of soil and plant characteristics like plant height, plant populations, nos of leaves/ plant, dry matter content, green fodder yield, siliquae/plants, Stover yield etc., Reference: chatterjee B.N and Das P.K(1989), forage crop production, principles and practices pp 3-5
