Brief Group Description The Shutter Revolution is a community of photography enthusiasts armed with their vintage cameras and plastic cameras loaded with fresh and expired films, intent on capturing everyday moments. The group started out as an online community of less than 20 members on April 10th 2011, blossoming into a membership of 200 by its first year. While able to maintain a strong online presence in the most popular social networks: Lomography.com, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook, its main page; Shutter Revolution finds time to organize photowalks, meetups and projects about twice a month. Major Projects to date: Flash Freeze Mob 1 & 2 With the advent of Digital photography, Shutter Revolution tried to breach the common misconceptions and show the metropolis that FILM Photography is indeed alive and kicking. The members of the group froze in place holding their film cameras in the act of taking a picture, in the midst of a busy sidewalk. The stunt elicited a fair amount of curiosity and interest towards film photography. Lomolamon sa Malabon + Stop motion Video Shutter Revolution explored the gastronomic delights and historic houses that Malabon offers. As an event highlight, the group created a Stop Motion video featuring the members who were in attendance, shot using the Lomography LC-Wide Camera with FUJI Superia 200 film. General Assembly 1.0 + Peekneek + Seminar series Shutter Revolution had its first ever General Assembly at the UP Diliman Garden of Muses, Faculty Center. It was a whole day event which featured a 2-hour long seminar series focusing on Basics of Photography, a Potluck picnic, capped off with a performance by the UP Kontemporaryong Gamelan Pilipino. Forty one members joined the event. LOMO Caterpillar Project Shutter Revolution embarked on a daring project to invade UP Diliman as a Caterpillar. 30 members armed with 26 plastic cameras loaded with FUJI Superia 200 films roamed the path walks and captured the moments inside the campus. Analogue shots taken by all 26 cameras will be interspersed to create a stop-motion video to be uploaded online with the purpose of showing the world that Film and Film photography is very much alive in the Philippines. Photography Exhibit series in cooperation with UP Kontragapi Shutter Revolution partnered with the UP Kontemporaryong Gamelan Pilipino (Kontragapi) in launching its first ever exhibit series at the UP Diliman Faculty Center Gallery 1 which run from August 15-19, 2011.
