CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, DOMINGUEZ HILLS The Loker Student Union, Inc. is an auxiliary of California State University, Dominguez Hills and is a California 501(c)3 Not For Profit Corporation. The facility, totaling approximately 120,000 square feet, houses the University Bookstore, Campus Dining, and Associated Students, Inc., in addition to various meeting facilities, lounges and recreational space. As the hub of campus activity, the mission of the Student Union includes providing cultural, social and recreational programming that supports the educational mission of the University and providing programs and services that enhance the quality of life for members of the campus community. Manager, Programs, Assessment and Marketing

GENERAL STATEMENT: The Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting in the development of various training and development programs geared towards employees of the Loker Student Union (LSU), and is responsible for the coordination and execution of the training programs. The Graduate Assistant is a position in the LSU. The incumbent will be a LSU non-exempt, part-time paraprofessional employee and will adhere to the rules, regulations and employment standards established by the Donald P. and Katherine B. Loker Student Union, Inc. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision by the Manager, Programs, Assessment and Marketing, the incumbent will perform a variety of general training, development and programmatic functions, including but not limited to the following: % of Time 80% Description of Duties Training and Development Coordinate and execute seven two-hour in-service trainings, and two full-day trainings directed towards LSU student assistant employees; assist in the development of learning outcomes goals for student assistant employees, including assessment and reporting; develop 15-minute presentations to familiarize/refresh LSU staff professionals regarding student development theory and its application in a work environment. Special Projects - Provide support to the Manager, Programs, Assessment and Marketing by completing special projects related to training, development, and assessment; provide event support to the LSU and Student Life departments four annual major events. Other Duties as Assigned Provide support to all areas of the LSU operations as needed, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education - Current enrollment in the second year of a Graduate Program in a field of study relevant to student affairs in higher education. Skills/Knowledge Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; correct use of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; general knowledge of student development theories; general knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior; general knowledge of event planning and marketing. Abilities Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-ethnic environment; ability to use independent judgment, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills; ability to maintain professionalism; ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in daily work; ability to effectively balance academic course load and work responsibilities; ability to report to work at the CSUDH campus for a one-year period from July 2012 to June 2013. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a non-exempt position with work hours based upon the duties and responsibilities which need to be completed. This position is employed by the Loker Student Union, Inc. and is subject to related personnel policies and procedures. This position serves at the will of the Director and does not receive tenure or permanency. Anticipated start date: July 2, 2012. SALARY $11.08 hourly (12 month appointment July 2, 2012 June 28, 2013); non-exempt, standard schedule. CLOSING DATE For full consideration, all materials must be received by June 1, 2012 at 5pm.
