Balak 2012
The majority of the Torah seems to be written from the viewpoint and through the lives of those that are in covenant with Yahweh, yet this weeks Torah portion completely changes the pattern! Balak or Devastator, covering Numbers 22:2 25:9 instead seems to switch the focus to the enemies of Israel. This portion is named after Balak, king of Moab, and deals with his hiring of the prophet Balaam in order to curse Yahwehs chosen people. Yet once again we are reminded that the end, our days, are declared from the beginning. So we must dig to find what this holds in store for us and what lesson is encased within it! Balaks attack on Israel is not a military attack, instead it deals with their ability to house the seed/Word a shadow picture for the same method of the antimessiah as well! Balak: Strongs #1111 Balaq devastator; from #1110 balaq to waste, lay waste, make empty, void, desolate He was the son of Zippor: Strongs #6834 tsippowr sparrow, bird, fowl 1st statement made concerning the seed in the parable of the sower is and the fowls of the air came and devoured it. Hes coming to steal the Word that Yahweh has deposited within Israel! As always, the numbers attached to the portion help enable us to unravel its mysteries! This is the 40th Torah portion of year. 40 = associated with trials, testing, and chastisement (the flood being 40 days and 40 nights); = womb, the origin or source of something *Could it be that within this portion we have revealed to us the source of why the womb (the Bride) must be tested and go through the upcoming trials and chastisement known as Jacobs trouble? 40 = 40 weeks of gestation until birth; part of this testing deals with your ability to house the seed/Word of the Torah and bring it to maturity so that it then bears fruit/birthed! (Parable of the Sower Mark 4:14-20) *The role of the womb is to protect the seed thats deposited within it! In other words youve been charged with guarding the Word, watching over it, and maintaining its integrity, not allowing it to be compromised by Balak! Its no accident that directly before this encounter, Yahweh demonstrates before all of Israel a visual example of the Word/Torah being brought forth via the blossoming of Aarons rod. Numbers 17:4, 8-10 Lay: Strongs #3240 yanach to rest; 2 letter root Noah one who

survived the 40 days of testing and trials. Gematria = 68, same as bebetenah in her womb This scenario with the rods is about to reveal to us how we as well can be like Noah and find rest in the midst of the testing. It has to do with what is in her (the brides) womb! Psalm 23:4 thy rod and thy staff they comfort me comfort: #5162 nacham to console, comfort; = Noah & = womb; In other words, if its the Rod/Word of Yah in the womb, then youll find rest and be comforted!

Almonds: Strongs #8247 shaqed the almond tree, almonds; from #8245 shaqad to watch, wake, be alert. Spelled with the same letters that form qadosh as well as #6945 qadesh temple prostitute root = sackcloth, mesh, worn in mourning, especially at the death of a son & = Door causes their eyes to be opened to what their own actions have caused they now mourn for the cutting off of the son who would be the door Murmurings: Strongs #8519 telunah grumbling, complaints Contains the 3 letter root of which forms #8566 tanah to hire, to sell oneself, a harlot hiring out her body & #8567 tanah to commemorate, rehearse, tell again Israel is shown the almond rod representing the authority and right of the one in its possession to pass on seed. In other words representing the right of Yahweh to release His seed/Word via the door of the Messiah. This visual demonstration is made in order to stop His bride from selling herself and playing the harlot/temple prostitute! And this process of selecting the rods was a rehearsal teaching Israel as well how to choose the rod choose the Messiah! A rehearsal/telling again for when the Bride would have the opportunity to play the harlot again both here when encountering Balak and for the Bride at the end of days whose fate would depend upon what was housed within her womb! *Notice the numbers again! This portion starts in the 22nd chapter, 22 = number of letters of the Hebrew Alephbet! They should be birthing/bringing to maturity the Word/language of Yah at this point having been shown the proper way via Aarons rod. *This same pattern is seen in the life of Jacob! Genesis 30:37-38 And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which [was] in the rods. And he set the rods, which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs 2

when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink. Hazel: Strongs #3869 luwz almond tree, almond wood Rods: Strongs #4731 maqqel rod, staff; from an unused root meaning to germinate Jacob does this in preparation for leaving the house of Laban and having to deal with him. Laban: Strongs #3837 laban white; = heart & suffix = to diminish one who will diminish your heart; in other words Jacob causes his entire house to become familiar with the Rod/Word/Messiah so that their heart wouldnt be diminished in the face of opposition! In this portion, Israel follows the same pattern! They are shown the rod in order to become fruitful/conceive in preparation for encountering Balaam, son of Beor, who according to tradition is the grandson of Laban, one who would as well attempt to diminish the heart of Israel towards Yahweh! Balak: Strongs #1111 Balaq devastator; from #1110 balaq to waste, lay waste, make empty, void, desolate *Gematria = 132, same as the phrase al lev to the heart; = #5923 a yoke Balak and Balaam both are those who will attempt to diminish the heart of the Bride towards her husband, to put a yoke upon her again if shes not familiar with the Rod/Word! Thats the only way shell fall for these false husbands/gods (both Balak and Balaam have the root just like Baal). Notice that though both with Jacob and Aaron were dealing with an almond rod, yet different terminology is used in the Hebrew. Jacob = luwz maqqel, gematria = 213 & Aaron = shaqed mattah, gematria = 458 213 + 458 = 671, the value of the phrase lashown nokriyah a foreign language, a harlots speech 458 213 = 245, value of marah bitter, rebellion The flocks conceive when shown the rod, Israel in the wilderness responds differently however! They rebel against the Word/Language/seed choosing to keep their harlots speech and therefore must drink the bitter waters, which will judge the womb that refused to fulfill its role as the vessel for the Seed of Yah. Matthew 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. The rods are placed before the stronger cattle causing them to conceive, but not before the feeble (Gen. 30:41-42).

Stronger: Strongs #7194 qashar to bind, tie, bind together; same term used to describe how the Word of Yahweh is to be bound upon our hand and as frontlets between our eyes. Feeble: Strongs #5848 ataph 1 )to turn aside 2) to be feeble, faint, grow weak Now we can understand the test that is taking place as Israel encounters Balak and the test the test happening now in our days as well! The Rod/Word is being presented, those who choose to bind themselves to it, those of the house who accept it will be fruitful and conceive! Yet those who choose to turn aside from it will grow weak, feeble, and faint. Zeph. 3:9 - Yahweh promises to restore a pure language Its the rod being presented before the house! Yet we have a choice, bind it upon our hands and as frontlets between our eyes or to turn aside from it! Numbers 22:1-3 Side: Strongs #5676 eber region beyond or across, side; from #5674 abar to pass over or by or through, to stand in opposition to something, to alienate Jordan: Strongs #3383 Yarden descender, to flow down; both in its name and in its geographical location, the Jordan river becomes a shadow picture representing the seed of the serpent the watchers flowing down/descending in order to comingle (flowing from Mt. Hermon to the Dead Sea). *These same waters are eventually cut off. In Joshua 3:13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of Yahweh, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, [that] the waters of Jordan shall be cut off [from] the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap. Israel has been shown the rod/Word/Messiah in preparation for crossing the Jordan. They were to pass over causing the waters/seed of the serpent to be cut off! However theyve chosen to alienate themselves instead from the rod/word/language! They are an ark/vessel/womb with no seed as theyve allowed the fowls of the air to steal it. At the end of the portion we read, Numbers 25:1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. Shittim: Strongs #7851 Shittiym the acacias; from #7848 shittah acacia tree, acacia wood; the same wood used in the construction of the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant where the rod was kept! From #7850 shotet to scourge, to pierce Instead of choosing to conceive the Word represented by the Rod that 4

would make them fruitful, they instead choose to play the harlot and partake in the worship of the fallen ones in the very place where the Rod/Messiah should have been! They forgot the one who was scourged and pierced, the Son who they mourned for. *The term for acacia also forms sotah (#7847) to turn aside, go aside; describes the woman accused of adultery in Numbers 5 facing the bitter waters. Yet here as well, it depends upon what is bebetenah/in her womb. Whether it be the Rod, representing the Messiah who was scourged and pierced, or if the Rod has been removed and replaced. Instead of following the example set by the flocks of Jacob, they follow the example of his wife Rachel who chooses to reject the rod as well for the house gods of her father! Genesis 31:32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what [is] thine with me, and take [it] to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them. Discern: Strongs #5234 nakar 1 )to recognize, acknowledge, know, discern, to consider carefully, investigate 2) to act or treat as foreign or strange *Laban was investigating/looking for that which was foreign or strange among the house of Jacob, that which didnt belong. Nakar is the root of nokriyah used to describe the harlots speech. This same word is used in Nehemiah 13:24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could/nakar not speak in the Jews' language (Hebrew), but according to the language of each people. One of the indicators of whether you belong in the camp or not is the language! Why? Because the language represents the seed/DNA of Yahweh, those who have come in contact with the Rod are housing His seed and therefore speaking His language! Ashdod: Strongs #797 Ashdowdiyth I will spoil; from #795 Ashdowd powerful; Its the location of one of the 3 strongholds of the giants not dealt with by Israel (Joshua 11:22, along with Gath and Gaza). Once again, a picture of part of the bride sitting on the pagan house gods and rejecting the Rod because theyve rejected the language! This portion is a major lesson for the believers living in the end days because we as well are being shown the rod! Ezekiel 20:37-38 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I [am] Yahweh. *Once again the Rod will stop the murmuring as it reveals what is housed within the womb/heart of those within the camp!
