Established in 1978, Aarong is a fair trade organization dedicated to bring about positive changes in the lives of disadvantaged artisans and underprivileged rural women by reviving and promoting their skills and craft. Reaching out to weavers, potters, brass workers, jewelers, jute workers, basket weavers, wood carvers, leather workers and more, Aarong embraces and nurtures a diverse representation of 65,000 artisans, 85% of whom are women. Today, Aarong has become the foundation upon which independent cooperative groups and family-based artisans market their craft, in an effort to position the nations handicraft industry on a world platform of appreciation and acknowledgement. Aarong has 11 retail outlets in Flagship Outlet. They are in Uttara, Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Moghbazar, Wari, Mirpur, Sylhet, Khulna, 2 Chittagong outlets and even one outlet in London. These outlets requires human resource to help and provide customer service to customers. For our study in Human resource planning and completion of assignment I picked a small segment in this huge organization. This assignment focuses on the Dhanmondi branchs Home decoration department situated in the 2nd floor of Aarong in Lalmatia. For the study I talked with the floor supervisor of Aarong Mr. Mahbub Alam and he gave the following detail to help our study. The human resource in the home decoration floor is presented first through a diagram and then described briefly.

They are the Floor manager, floor manager, Assistant manager and Manager as accord to their hierarchical position in the organization. They each are accountable to report to their immediate supervisor and the head of the floor is the floor supervisor. One person form the managerial team is always present in the floor and they are all full time employees working 9 hours shift. They help train and orient the newly recruited employees. Provide sales associates solution towards any customer complaints and to maintain the process of sales. They also stays in the customer service point where they provide feedback toward any customers query and maintain loyalty and rewards programs. Sales Associate: The heart of Aarong shop is its young, smart and always eager to help sales associates. They are under direct supervision of the managerial team and the whole set of this employees are part-time contractual basis employees who are currently studying in undergrad program in different university. The sales associates tasks are on different verities and these tasks are often changed and swapped among the employees. Some of the sales associates does the work as cashier and maintain the sales receipt, some helps and attend the roaming customers in the floor and point them towards what they are trying to find out. Some sales associates are suggesting

different products the customer might be interested in. overall this proactive and sound team does a good work in keeping the place in high spirit and provide the customers with instant help where they need. They also plays a significant role in the inventory management of the floor in Aarong. These sales associates work in shift basis and they work 5 hours shift person. The morning shift consists of 20 employees and the evening shift consists of 22 employees. Though the shift is separated in two different part but the actual shift starting time might vary in both shift resulting shift time beginning and going through overlapping period of both shift. Security Guards: In each floor of Aarong there is two guards standby to ensure the security. They welcome the customer to the floor and ensure they are using proper exit path. These security guards are employed from third party security organization. They are not under direct employment of Aarong.
