Mobile Practical Overview

The Site:

(1)The Shelter

(2)The Tower

{2} Tower:
Antennas:
(first ant. Or there are second ant.)

Microwave links:
(transmites the E1s to the rest of sites)

Types of towers :
1) Green field 2) Stub tower or Rooftop 3) Must 4) Monopole 5) Palm

(*) Antennas:
Theoretically: Omni-directional or Sectorial Practically: Alandeck , Kathrein & Power wave
(2 ports , 4 ports , 6 ports and 10 ports)

Antennas Orientations:
(60 , 180 & 300 are usually in urban areas)

Antennas Tilts:

(*) Mechanical Tilt (*) Electrical Tilt (*) Effective tilt = Elect.+ Mech.

Kathrein Antennas:

Mechanical and electrical tilt:

Power wave Antenna:

6 Down E.T

4 Down E.T

2 Down electrical tilt

The New 10 ports Antenna:

The 10 ports antenna works instead of using two antennas for the same sector, ( 4ports for the GSM 900 , 4 ports for the GSM 1800 & 2 ports for the 3G)

Measuring the orientation of the Antenna:

1. Using the Binocular:

2. Using the Compass:

(*)Microwave links:
Its diameters ranges from 0.3m to 2.4m according to the distance to be covered. In Egypt: we rarely use 3.8m There must be a LOS between the two microwave links. If there is a NLOS between them then the site will be down The E1s are transferred through the microwave link. Every link has a RAU (Radio Access Unit) OR Two RAUs (one operating and the other is Standby) The RAU acts as the Modulator & the demodulator for the Incoming & the outgoing Signal.

A (1+1) Microwave link:

1 RAU

A (1+0) Microwave link:

Only 1 RAU

Used Programs
(1) OMT: (Operation & Maintenance Terminal)
(*) Used for checking the status of Site & CO cabinets (*) checking Diversity and VSWR

(2) Mini Link :

(*) Used for checking the status of the Microwave link

(3) RBS Element Manager :

(*) Used for checking the status of the 3G cabinet

(*)NOTES:
(*) Multi-band power splitter: (*)Multi-band Indoor Omni directional antenna:
