Slave trade source analysis

Source 1: 300 slaves were collected from a port on the West coast of Africa. The slaves looked happy and well looked after. It would seem that they were positively looking forward to their trip to the new world. We led them onto the ships husbands hand in hand with wives, children hand in hand with parents. We let the slaves sit where they choose aboard the ship. There was a large supply of fresh food and water to supply these people with. We had flat seas and a good wind; we guess the crossing should take no longer than 15 days. Source 2: Our feet and hands were chained together. We were herded onto the ship like cattle. Immediately we were forced into the hold (inside) of the ship. My wife and children were forced from my side. I was forced to lay down and there I stayed for the remainder of the crossing. I had a man strapped either side of me. On my left, my friend breathed his last breath. He lay still for 3 days before the sailors threw him overboard. I was hungry and tired. We were told our suffering would continue for at least another 7 weeks.
