An organizations framework.
The
authority and resonsibility relationships between various positions. Location of decision centers in the organization. Channel of communication among the members. The senior- subordinate relationship.

Line Relationship
Relationship which exist between two employees
due to delegation of authority and responsibility. Generally exist between superior and subordinate. Line refers to those positions of an organization which are accountable to achieve primary objectives. Line managers are not subject to command by staff personnel.

Staff Relationship
A staff manager helps, serve, investigate, plan,
solve special problems, support line effort, provide ideas and have special expertise. Relationship between line and staff is advisory. Staff have responsibility and authority for providing advice and service to line in the attainment of objectives.
