INTRODUCTION

Harder materials are machined easily by using Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) The individual parameters influence the machining process individually in EDM Optimization is required for the parameters, in order to get desired machining process.

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
The following problems are occurred while machining The materials by conventional machining process

Damage or crack of tool due to Chattering. Accuracy of finishing product is less. Poor Dimensional accuracy Metal removal rate is reduced.

OBJECTIVE
EDM is a quicker process, so harder materials can be machined at much faster rate than Conventional machining. No physical contact between tool and workpiece, so the possibilities for damage is very less. Electrically conductive tool and workpiece are used and hence high accuracy is obtained. Electric spark is the technique used, so thermal strain is at very low.

LITERATURE REVIEW
The EDM process of a ceramic composite material consist of alumina and titanium carbide is solved using Galerkin implict FEA method by young cheol ahn Electrical discharge machining is good for fabrication of ultra hard materials and mathematical model is built between cutting tool and electrode wire in wire EDM by cheng The best adhesion at interface of machined titanium-porcelain composite is carried out in EDM and pulse on time is calculated to find effective parameters EDMs are excellent probe and electrically neutral systems are used for sensitive searches in EDM. Based on storing fast particles in magnetic storage rings, are being developed to probe charged particles for EDM.

SCOPE FOR FUTURE WORK

The dielectric medium is supplied with pressure which has to be optimized so as to enhance the machining characteristics
If the dielectric is allowed to flow with optimum velocity in the gap much more material removal rate would be obtained In this case, the straight polarity has been used. The investigation may also be done by reverse polarity
