NWTF was founded in 1984 as a non-governmental organization to help women achieve self-sufficiency and self-reliance, particularly in Negros Occidentals low income and depressed urban and rural communities.

MICROCREDIT

WHAT IS
Grameen method micro credit. Women in rural households who belong to the lowest 50% of the population Use PPI Progress Out of Poverty Index to target the poorest

PRINCIPLES
Direct financial credit to the poor. Unique system of money lending. Formation of groups by the members themselves. Small repayments for small loans. Utilization of loans for income generating projects, that one has the skill for. Close monitoring and supervision of loans. Compulsory saving of money for the Group Fund. Business transactions are done in an open manner. Rigorous training and testing of potential borrowers. Rigorous and practical staff training.

MICRO CROP
Loan product for agrarian reform beneficiaries and small farmers. Multiple releases and payment upon harvest addresses specific needs of farmers giving them better yields and higher income. Costly and risky but very important program that addresses rural poverty in the developing world.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS
SOLAR LAMPS
safe, reliable and multi-purpose solar lamps that dependable lighting for off-grid areas as well as fisher-folk and other rural communities.

ENVIROFIT COOKSTOVES
energy-efficient cookstoves that allow clients to save as much as 40-50% of their usual fuel budget while reducing emission by 60%.

MOBILE BANKING

LOAN RELEASE AND PAYMENTS

Educational loans that enable family members of NWTF-Project Dungganon clients to take up short high-skills vocational courses.

Implementing Partner
Implementing partners are usually Microfinance Institutions that receive grants from Whole Planet Foundation to establish and run micro lending programs. In some cases Whole Planet Foundation funds or contributes to the loan pool of an existing MFI
