V banned the writings of Martin Luther, the heretic and enemy of the state Pope and other church officials were to persuade the then Emperor Charles V to arrest him but the elector backed him up. He remained in the Wartburg castle to translate the Bible into German which was the greatest achievement in the Reformation.

1522 ZWINGLI BEGAN REFORMS AT ZURICH


Zwingli- preached what is in the bible Public debate- disputed matters of faith and doctrine by the Zurich City council January 29, 1523- Zwingli preached nothing but what can be proved by the holy gospel and the pure holy scripture (according to the Zurcih city council)

1529 DIET AT SPEYER

First imperial law was passed against the Anabaptists threatening death to anyone who did not recognize infant baptism.

1534- HENRY VIII BROKE WITH ROME

Henry VIII Pope Paul III announced that Henry VIII was excommunicated from Rome because of his annulment from Catherine of Aragon. Married Anne Boleyn Supreme head of the Church of England Persecuted those who opposed the Acts of Supremacy and Succession.
