ITC Limited or ITC is an Indian conglomerate headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. Its diversified business includes five segments: Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Hotels, Paperboards, Paper & Packaging and Agriculture Business. Indian Tobacco Company was incorporated on August 24, 1910 and is registered as ITC India Ltd. It's original name was 'Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited' which was changed to India Tobacco Company Limited in 1970 and then to I.T.C. Limited in 1974. The Company's main product was Cigarettes, but today it has a good presence in the wide range of FMCG Products, Information Technology, Safety Matches, Hotels and more.

It's original name is 'Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited'. Later it got registered as ITC India Ltd. and known by this name only. However, it is unfortunately usually understood as Indian Tobacco Company/Corporation. There is no company of such name.

In 2010, ITC launched its hand rolled cigar, Armenteros, in the Indian market. Armenteros cigars are available exclusively at tobacco selling outlets in select hotels, fine dining restaurants and exclusive clubs.

This list is taken from The ITC Brands section of ITC website. A strange thing to note here is that though cigarettes are the main money earner for ITC none of its cigarette brands is featured in this list. This is because of the latest legal restriction that prohibits advertisement or promotion of cigarettes in public media. In the next section, we will take the key brands, see the intended targeting and positioning of those brands and then find out how that has evolved into the advertising and marketing communication.
