Qison Geospatial Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

St Marys Group of Institutions under the
leadership of our Founding Chairman, Rev
KVK Rao, and our Secretary & Director,
Joseph Sri Harsha, has become the first
Institution in the State of Andhra Pradesh to
collaborate with Qison Geospatial Solutions
Pvt. Ltd in creating employment
opportunities for our St Marians.
Our Vision
At Qison Geospatial Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (QGS) interested
Students will enjoy a robust and diverse organisation that
provides unlimited career building opportunities and
professional development programs. Working within
supportive teams, our professionals collaborate to achieve
common goals.

QGS has the requirement of 400 positions in the field of
Geospatial before 2014 and another 400 by 30
th

As part of MOU between St Marys & QGS the entire
requirements will be filled exclusively from St Marys
Group of Institutions.

QGS handles Projects which are large and go on for
generally 2-3 years and sometimes longer. It would be
offering services end-to-end in all the three areas of GIS
namely Surveying, Processing & Web GIS Applications.

GIS Market
The Geospatial market in India and the Middle East
is estimated at Rs. 10 billion and is expected to see
a 12% growth rate over the next five years. The
Indian government's Open Map Policy and Survey of
India's large-scale mapping initiatives is unlocking
geospatial opportunities in several areas.
These include land records, urban planning,
environment, forestry and natural resources; utility
infrastructure planning and management; and
defence. Similarly, the rapid pace of infrastructure
development in the Middle East has led to a growing
demand for geospatial services in that region.

A GIS is a particular form of Information
System applied to geographical data.

An Information System is a set of
processes, executed on raw data to produce
information which will be useful when
making decisions.

A system is a group of connected entities
and activities which interact for a common
purpose.
What is a GIS?
An information system has a full range of
functions to:
process observations
process measurements
provide descriptions
explain data
make forecasts
make decisions

GIS Its Functions
A GIS makes connections between
activities based on geographic proximity.
The digital data structure can be
conceptualized as a set of floating
electronic maps with a common
registration allowing the used to look
down (drill down) and across the stack of
maps.

The spatial relationships can be
summarized (data base inquiries)

GIS Its connectivity with Other areas.
The spatial relationships can be
summarized (data base inquiries) or
manipulated (analytical processing).

Another definition of GIS - An internally
referenced, automated, spatial information
system for data mapping, management,
and analysis

Both surveying and GIS are part of a new
industry called the Spatial Science Industry

Spatial information describes the location of
objects in the real world and relationships
between them.
What is Spatial Science?
GIS is being applied around the world
to solve many problems.
Surveying is an exciting career that is
responsible for the measurement and mapping
of our natural and built environments.
Surveyors typically have a mixture of outdoor
work and office work which normally involves
using state of the art computer systems.

Surveyors are involved in land development,
hydrographic surveying, mine surveying,
construction and aerial mapping.
