TDU What is it?

The Template Download Utility is an Exclusive NCR
offering (stand alone application) developed by
Dundee. It facilitates the installation of currency
templates in NCR ATMs enabled for BNA Intelligent
Cash Deposit (Glory).
PID #D535-0004-0000 (Pasa Estados Unidos)
US Currency Template for BNA (Glory)
Release 03.01.01 is the latest (NXG color $5 support)
D535-0004-Z000 for customers on Template Maintenance

Glory BV/ABV BNA only (not Fujitsu GBNA)

All ATMs configured with a Glory Cash Acceptor can
support the Currency Template Download Utility.

How it works :
Essential Hardware & Software Requirements:
A Glory Cash Acceptor (BNA1 or BNA2), with template memory card if (BV)
The appropriate Maintenance port connections between the BNA Cash Acceptor
and the ATM core. ABV is USB.
The Template Download Utility (TDU) - program resident on the ATM
Digital Certificate (tdu.cer) installed immediately after TDU is installed
If ABV, then the ABV USB Driver and cable are required.

The appropriate Currency Template in the form of a CAB. And pcbna.ini

Installs the TDU application, Digital Certificate, and ABV USB Driver if needed.

Places the CAB and INI in the \Glory folder via Copy File, then initiates a reset.

How it works contd

TDU is invoked automatically as part of the APTRA Platform Start-up.
A Template update is performed whenever TDU finds a .CAB and .ini file in any of the
following:
The ATMs floppy disk drive
The CD-ROM Drive
USB port
The HDD in the C:\ProgramFiles\NCR APTRA\BNATemplateDownload\Glory folder if
TDU Release 03.00.00
TDU Sequence of Events
First, TDU finds a CAB and pcbna.ini in one of the above and extracts the .CAB
Next, TDU verifies the digital signature of the .CAB file
If verification is successful then TDU executes the TUP.EXE contained in the CAB.
Finally, TUP reprograms the template resident in the BNA with the new template, and
updates the new Master ATM Currency Configuration (pcbna.ini) file in the
\RS232BunchNoteAcceptor folder.
If TUP successfully loads the .CAB file and pcbna.ini, then the two files plus an Error.log are
saved to C:\Program Files\NCR APTRA\BNATemplateDownload\Glory\backup
Note: This is a move not a copy so the CAB and .INI files are effectively deleted from the
\Glory folder. This is in order to prevent repetition of that particular download on any subsequent
start-up.

How it works contd

This is not the standard method of loading
Templates in the USA and can cause problems.

If the .CAB and INI files are loaded from flex, CD or USB flash drive (using the
non-copy file method) then the files are not moved to the \Backup directory, but
remain on the removable media.
Note: The medium must be removed from the ATM when the download has
completed, and stored for back-up purposes. If it is not removed, then on next
start-up the same download will be repeated.

Examples of common US Problems

User not reading Instructions (Very common)
Safe opened during Flash (BNA missing 24V)
USB Driver not loaded (check in Control Panel)

Benefits of TDU Customer & NCR

Ease of new template implementation!!
The ability to update templates via CD, utilizing the Copy
File utility.
If Remote Software Distribution is used, no human
intervention is required at the ATM. A silent install would
mean that there is no need to plan for a service visit to
run the CD or change the memory card.
Time and cost to upgrade the whole network is reduced as
the customer is not dependent on waiting for a CE to carry
out each installation. In addition, the update can be
performed during the customers quiet time.
Reduced requirement for WCS or Professional Services
intervention.
