FOIS: Objectives
Correct information captured at source
Reduce manual collection of operational data
Uniform statistical information available at all levels
On-line information of accurate forecasts to assist management in
planning control and coordination
Ensure optimal crew management
Monitor statutory limits for running duty and overtime payments
Track consignment in pipeline for managerial efficiency
Ensure prompt billing of consignments handled
Provide efficient documentation for booking at goods handling
terminals
Improve quality of service to customers:
Prompt information to their queries
Resulting in increased levels of Customer Satisfaction
FOIS Objectives
Monitoring of freight trains : their position in computerized territory and their
expected time of arrival at destination.
Commodity wise flow of freight trains for customers like power Houses,
Refineries, Fertilizers and Cement Plants, Steel Depots and Public Freight
Terminals : an accurate forecast of cargo arrivals ; adequate time to complete
preparatory arrangement to handle the cargo.
Full particulars of detachments from block rakes recorded and updated
eliminating chances of wagons getting unconnected or missing.
Details of Rakes/Wagons in various yards, their phase-wise detention in different
terminals, eliminating need for costly manual documentation /tedious retrieval
systems and inaccuracies
Managerial reports regarding availability of rolling stock, i.e. wagons and
locomotives at any instant of time to plan for their most efficient utilization.
FOIS comprises of
Rake Management System (RMS) :
for handling the operating portion and
Tracking of Consignments.
Customers will be able to track their consignments :
It will enable customers to plan in advance for loading/ unloading
operations.
This will benefit Railways also because if loading / unloading will be
faster detention of wagons will be reduced.
