It has organised the training of teachers for the Satellite Instructional Television Experiment in different states.
The Institute is concerned with education

SIET, the State Institute of Educational
technology is responsible for the planning, research, production and evaluation of educational softwares like video, audio programmes and computer multimedia. SIET Kerala also aims to implement schemes to generate teaching technologies and learning process in the modern context. Different projects of SIET are:

12 hour educational channel for school
education was officially inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala Shri. V.S. Achuthananthan on 3rd August 2006. The project envisions a tri-partite intervention with teachers, students and ViCTERS inside the classroom. The ViCTERS is designed to provide an excellent alternate source of information for poor students.
IT@ School is the project that enables
students in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and also holds the record for the largest deployment of free software anywhere in the world. It was set up by Government of Kerala in April 2002. It offered the perfect opportunity for introducing ICT to students from different socioeconomic strata who attend the 3000 odd government and government- aided schools in the state.
