Power Pack
Hydraulic Power Units are the main driving components of hydraulic systems.
Consisting mainly of a motor, a reservoir and a hydraulic pump, these units
can generate a tremendous amount of power to drive most any kind of
hydraulic ram.

CT Application
CT growth has been driven by economics, continual technological advances
and the successful utilization of CT to perform an ever-growing list of field
operations :
Scale Removal
Gas Lifting
Stimulation Fracturing & Acid treatments
Cementing
Workover Drilling / Milling
Electrical Applications Logging & perforating
Fishing
Permanent Installations Completions
20
CT Advantages
The advantages associated with CT are:
The ability to operate on live wells does not require well to be killed, thus
reducing risk of formation damage.
Quick mobilization and rig up.
Ability to work Rigless no associated rig costs.
Reduced surface footprint and crew configuration.
Efficient offshore mobilization skid mounted units.
Ability to perform operations while well is producing minimize production
downtime.
No connections and thus ability for continuous circulation during live well
intervention.

Scale Removal
Scale Control
Inorganic compound that precipitates due to loss of solubility
Requires water
Presence of CO2 increases chance of scale
Conditions
- Formation Water Naturally Produces Scale
- Combination of 2 Incompatible Waters
Three classifications
- Water Soluble NaCl
- Acid Soluble FeS, CaCO3
- Acid Insoluble BaSO4
Removal options for Acid Insoluble Scales
- Jetting
- Rotating jetting tool Slow Rotating Jetblaster
- Milling
22
Scale Removal
Scale Identification
Important scale samples are obtained :
Sample Bailers
LIBs
Simple laboratory test can identify whether the scale is acid soluble
so suitable scale removal could be planned

Straight Bar
The Straight Bar is often used to extend very short tool strings,
such as a simple cleanout or lifting tool string. By extending a
short tool string the possibility of standing up in restrictions will
reduce. Therefore a smoother RIH will be achieved.

Rig Up
1. Conduct safety meeting.
2. Spot equipment to space availability.
3. Rig up treating lines, CT units and conduct function and pressure test.
4. Rig up injector head onto injector jacking frame.
5. Rig up crossover onto wellhead, necessary length of lubricators to space out between
wellhead and BOP and a pump-in tee.
6. Prepare hydraulic hoses.
7. Start up equipment and run equipment for a few minutes.
8. Jack up CT control cabin.
9. Function test injector jacking frame and BOP rams.
10. Prepare injector head and gooseneck.
39
Rig Up
11. Function test RIH and POOH.
12. Install gooseneck on injector head.
13. Stab in coil into injector head.
14. Make up CT end connector.
15. Pull test and pressure test end connector.
16. Rig up BOP
17. Make up remaining BHA.
18. Pressure test riser, stuffing box and flapper check valve.
19. Secure injector with chains.
40
Job Procedure
1. Pickle the CT with 7.5% HCL.
2. Circulate the CT with portable water at least twice throughout tubing volume
3. Perform surface circulation test with varying pump rate
4. Function test the JETBLASTER at surface
5. Before opening the Master Valve , pressure up above the valve equal to expected
well shut in pressure
6. After opening the valve, RIH CT at avg. 20ft/min to pass through wellhead stack
7. Increase RIH speed to avg. 50ft/min after 50 ft below wellhead stack.
8. Stop the CT 10 m above obstruction(wax/scale) as per Slickline Drift Run.
9. Start to pump seawater by increasing the pump rate and try to break through the
obstruction.
10. If no progress, pump mix of acid onto the obstruction and let it soak for at least 2
hours.
11. After soaking, RIH back with pumping SW and attempt break through the
obstruction.

Job Procedure
11. Once CT have pass through the obstruction ,establish circulation by pumping
nitrified fluid.
12. After the CT have reached End Of Tubing, circulate 10bbls of gel and two bottoms
up with seawater or clean returns are observed at surface

N2 Kick
1. Make CT BHA as per diagram and perform pressure test
2.
3. After opening the valve, RIH CT at avg. 20ft/min to pass through wellhead stack
4. Increase RIH speed to avg. 50ft/min after 50 ft below wellhead stack.
5. At 600m start pumping the nitrogen.
6. Returns are monitored at all time after pumping started.
7. Continue RIH to 900m , start pumping the nitrogen for an hour.
8. Pump the nitrogen at interval of 300m for an hour if the well is still not flowing.
9. If hydrocarbon is observed to be flowing, stop pumping N 2 and monitor well flow.
10. POOH the CT to surface. Once at surface secure the well and bleed pressure
from the riser.
