made him a prison.

city gates. Member
since 1250 to the
Augustinians.

The name "Vatican" is ancient and
predates Christianity, coming from
the Latin Mons Vaticanus, meaning
Vatican Mount.
The territory of the City is part
of the Mons Vaticanus.

CULTURE
The culture of the Vatican is obviously relevant
to the culture of the Catholic Church, but also
opens to the art of other cultures, and its
greatest exponent are works of architecture
such as the Basilica of St. Peter, St. Peter's
Square, the Sixtine Chapel and the Vatican
Museums.
Many famous artists and architects such as
Bramante, Miguel Ángel and Bernini worked on
Bramante very important works of art that can be admired
today in the Vatican building

Piazza Spagna

The Piazza Spagna is one of the world's most famous


squares, and a very beautifful place that brings together
the latest fashion history, this place has for centuries been
a favorite destination for visitors to Rome. Under Pope Leo
X was called the Piazza di Popolo, then and since as one
part was called Piazza di Spagna and the Piazza di Francia
other being due to the proximity of the two embassies

Santa Maria Della Vittoria

The church was begun in 1605 as a


chapel dedicated to Saint Paul for the
Discalced Carmelites. After the Catholic
victory at the battle of White Mountain in
1620, which reversed the Reformation in
Bohemia, the church was rededicated to
the Virgin Mary.

FONTANA DI TREVI
The Fontana di Trevi is fountain in
the Trevi rione in Rome, Italy. 
It is the largest  Baroque fountain 
in the city. The Fontana di trevi 
was finished in 1762 by Giuseppe
Pannini and was restored in 1998 
the stone was cleaned and installed
closed circuit pumps and oxidizers.

The Colosseum or Roman
Coliseum, originally the Flavian
Amphitheatre is an elliptical
amphitheatre in the center of
the city of Rome, Italy, the
largest ever built in the Roman
Empire.

It is considered one of  the  greatest works of  Roma 
architecture and Roman engineering.                               
It was builted in 1st century AD. Capable of seating 50,000 
spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial 
contests and public spectacles.

FONTANA DEI QUATTRO FIUMI
The Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi is located in the Piazza
Navona. Gianlorenzo Bernini made the fountain.
The four gods on the corners of the fountain represent
the four major rivers of the world: the Nile, Danube,
Ganges, and Plate.

The making of the fountain was met by opposition by the


people of Rome for several reasons. First, Innocent X had
the fountain built at public expense during the intense
famine of 1646-48.

of a man-like face, located in the
portico of the church of Santa Maria
in Cosmedin in Rome, Italy.The
most famous characteristic of the
Mouth, however, is its role as a lie
detector.
