NATURE CONSERVATION

INTRODUCTION

Lojing Highlands, the treasure of South Kelantan, is

gradually under threat.

In order to ensure Lojing highlands will continue to

contribute significantly to the economic development,
it must be exploited based on sustainable approaches.

Before any economic activities can be thought of,

Lojing Highlands must be conserved and thus if any
development is to be implemented, sustainability must
be given the utmost priority.

The most important conservation effort of the

biological diversity of its forest, flora, fauna and its
ecosystem, although conservation is to maintain can
also mean material and energy conservation.

DEFINITION

Highland or upland is used to denote any

mountainous region or elevated mountainous
plateau.

In ecology, sustainability is how biological

systems remain diverse and productive. Longlived and healthy wetlands and forests are
examples of sustainable biological systems.

Socioeconomics is the social science that studies

how economic activity affects and is shaped by
social processes. In general it analyzes how
societies progress, stagnate, or regress because of
their local or regional economy, or the global
economy.

SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT Refers

to the idea of ensuring physical development will
not prevail the destruction of an environmental and
a simple concept and aims at improving the quality
of life for the present and the future generations.

The

stakeholders and public must understand that

if the natural resources deplete, it will ultimately
resulted in forest destruction, scarcity of fertile
land, exhaustion of water supply and increase in
pollution. (ex : lojing)

Thus,

development plans for Lojing Highlands must

strongly consider the concept of SD which can only
be achieved through strong educational support.

CONCLUSION
Positive

side

Beauty and uniqueness can be preserved

Nature environment and habitat wont
deplete
Economy growth increase for people in
Lojing

Negative

side

Pollution out of control

Erosion occurred without any monitoring
Animal habitats deplete
