STA CRUZ LAGUNA


Capital of the province of Laguna and

considered as a first class urban municipality.

Santa Cruz, Laguna is situated on the


banks of the Santa Cruz River which
flows from the eastern part of Laguna
de Bay
LAND AREA - 38.59 sq. km (14.90 sq
mi) (3,860 Hectares)
POPULATION - 110,943 ( as of 2010 )

EDUCATION
There is one elementary school in
practically every barangay in the
municipality except in the
outlying/low density areas, namely
Brgys. Alipit, Jasaan, Labuin and
Malinao. Of the 21 elementary
schools, fifteen(15) are public schools
while six(6) are private schools.

ENROLLMENT

As of the school year 1999-2000, the


total school population of Santa Cruz
in the elementary level was 14,994 ;
8,302 in the secondary level and
10,129 in the tertiary level.

INCOME

The municipal income is derived


from the General Fund and Special
Education Fund. General Fund is
derived from Revenue from Taxation,
Incidental Revenue and Receipts from
Business Operation. Municipal
income increased from P
40,900,884.82 in 1995 to P
83,270,031.35 in 1999.

SWOT Analysis

STRENGTH
The site is near from the city proper where the population is

concentrated

WEAKNESS
Some part of the micro site is prone to flooding
Since the existing land use of the site is for agricultural, the

soil is soft which makes the construction of building difficult

OPPORTUNITY
The site is situated in between of 2 towns (Sta. Cruz and

Pagsanjan)

THREAT
There are a number of colleges and university in the vicinity

which may cause a competition for the proposed project.

Land Use / Zoning


The site belongs to the agricultural zone.

Based on the Republic Act 7160 known as


Local Government Code, since Santa Cruz,
Laguna is a first class urban municipality only
10% of the total agricultural area of the town
can be converted into institutional zone.
Given the area of agricultural area of the town
is 30.48 sq. km (3,048 hec), the zone of the
site is possible to be converted from
agricultural to institutional zone.

Topography
The site is relatively flat with a slope ranging from 0 2.5% which helps to make the development easier
Accessibility
The site is located on a minor road but still accessible by
the public by means of public utility vehicles.
Utilities
Common utilities for power, water, telecommunications,
etc. are available in the macro site
Safety
Since the micro site is situated along the road, the public
will help for the security of the site by means of natural
security. Just by the presence of the public will help to
reduce the crime in the area.

Solid Waste Management


Garbage trucks collect garbage everyday and
being brought to Barangay Palasan which is a
temporary dumpsite

Environmental Concern
There is no fault line near the site but some
part of the site is prone to flooding which may
cause inconvenience

Environmental Impact of the project


Since the micro site is part of the agricultural
zone of Santa Cruz, Laguna, the project may
affect the production of the residents.

towns of Bulacan province, located in
about its centerfrom north to south.

The site is near from the barangay where the population is

The micro site is not quite near the town proper of Pulilan, Bulacan

Environmental Impact of the Project


Since there are no colleges or universities near the proposed site, the project will not be
greatly affected by the competition. Also the residents near the site will benefit.
Since the micro site is part of the agricultural zone of Pulilan, Bulacan, the project may
affect the production of the residents.

Marikina Valley Fault traverses Sto. Domingo, Bian,
