The

purpose of this presentation is to


provide an explanation of the Optional
Subcomponent of Student Performance to
evaluate teachers and principals according
to the APPR 3012-d.

Optional Student
Performance Subcomponent.

This

portion of the APPR must be based on measures of


student growth, which are selected by districts/BOCES.
The measures, to the extent practicable, must apply in
a consistent manner across the district and can be
either: (A) a second State-provided growth score on a
State-created or administered test, or (B) a growth
score based on a supplemental assessment, calculated
using a State-provided or approved growth model.

Option 1A
Option

(A1) is a teacher specific growth score


computed by the State based on the percentage
of students who achieve State determined level of
growth (percentages of students whose growth is
above the median for similar students:

Teacher specific results are linked to a specific


set of students (District and BOCEs are not
required to select the students)

A 0-20

HEDI score will be used.

Option A2
School

wide growth results based on a Stateprovided school-wide growth score for all students
attributable to the school who took the State ELA
or math assessments.

The

score and rating will be provided by the State

Option A3
A

school- or program-wide, group, team, or linked


growth results using available State-provided growth
scores that are locally-computed.

The

district or BOCES should describe the process they


will use to locally compute a 0-20 score and HEDI rating
using a school- or program-wide, group, team, or linked
growth results using based available State-provided
growth scores and indicate the grades or subjects of the
State provided growth scores that are going to be used.

Option A4
A

district or BOCES-wide, growth results using


available State provided growth scores that are
locally computed.

District

or BOCES wide results are those results


linked to students outside the teachers building.

OPTION B1
A

teacher specific growth score based on a Statedesignated supplemental assessment, calculated


using a State-provided or approved growth model.

Option B2
A

school- or program-wide, group, team, or


linked growth score based on a State designated
supplemental assessment, calculated using a
State-provided or approved growth model capable
of generating such a score.

Option B3
District

or BOCES-wide growth score based on a


State-designated supplemental assessment,
calculated using a State-provided or approved
growth model capable of generating such a score.

Only

approved assessments can be included in a


districts or BOCES APPR plan

Conversion Charts
Options

that require a chart demonstrating how


the second growth score chosen will be converted
to a HEDI rating and score from 0-20
