Herman Hertzberger

Herman Hertzberger started producing his own work


even before graduating. In 1960 he opened his own firm
of architects, the present-day Architectuurstudio HH.
Famous buildings designed by his firm include the
headquarters of Centraal Beheer insurance company in
Apeldoorn, Vredenburg Music Centre in Utrecht and the
Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in The Hague.

3. Project Vision: I wish for my building to be a state of the art building
whilst blending in to the surrounding city centre. I dont want my building to
not blend in, I want it to be part of the city, but also stand out from the
crowd whilst still feeling as if it is part of the area.

The project vision is what the client or architect expects the
building to look and operate after it has been constructed.
Project visions varies depending on the building being
constructed.

aspirations of the project.
1. Summarise what Sustainability means:
Sustainability is your building being able to excel in people, planet and
profit. A building should be made to excel in all three categories, a building
that specialises in only one category shall not be successful.

People Caring for the community and the benefits the building will
have to the local people.

Profit How much income the building shall receive.

3. Describe Sustainable features for your building:


My leisure centre shall be extremely sustainable; it shall push to excel in
the three categories of people, planet and profit.
In order to not waste valuable energy, translucent glass shall be installed
to make use of natural light, and also a minimum amount of electricity
shall be consumed because of this. Also, solar panels shall be installed to
provide a clean supply of energy, plus recycling bins to dispose of waste
produce properly.
I shall also add disabled access and changing rooms to provide for a large
range of people so no one feels left out. There will be a caf to allow
people to socialise.
