Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
Stephen R. Covey
And to change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.
(Covey, 2012)
Each individual has a different perspective. It is important to understand others point of
view before judging an action right or wrong. This creates a caring, positive
atmosphere
Slowing down and taking time to understand individuals is a personal strength; however, I can always
work to improve upon it
Build inner character first- private victory before public victory.
By staying true to ones self and knowing the person you are, you can create a private
victory. Then, others may follow and a successful team is established.
I can work toward recognizing myself before looking for recognition from others
Search your own heart with all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life.
A personal strength: whatever I put my heart to, I make happen. I am mindful of myself and
often look inside to assess how I am feeling before taking on a job or performing an action.
But the greatest opportunities and boundless accomplishments of the Knowledge
Worker Age are reserved for those who master the art of we.
I learned that interdependence is a reality in healthcare and vital for success. I need to
work toward communicating with everyone in the healthcare team (speaking and listening)
once I begin my nursing profession.
