CHAPTER ONE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Building services is one of the course units undertaken by third civil engineering
students of Kyambogo University and it is a partial requirement for the fulfilment
of a Bachelors Degree of Engineering in Civil And Building Engineering.

Building servicesare the systems installed inbuildingsto make them


comfortable, functional, efficient and safe. Building servicesmight
include:Buildingcontrol systems. Energy distribution. Energy supply (gas,
electricity and renewable sources such as solar, wind, geothermal and biomass).
1.2 Objectives Of The Study
1.2.1 Main objective
To come up with a complete design of electrical installations
system for a selected building from a Registered Architect.
1.2.2 Specific objectives
To develop electrical layouts and calculations for the selected
building.
To Compute for the No. of bulbs in Admin Block.
To determine the Circuit Breaker ratings.
To develop Computations for Power and Amperage Tables.
To compute Supply cable sizing and Main supply.
