Synopsis of the course

The course examines the foundation of philosophical, historical,


psychological and sociological foundations of curriculum;
curriculum development, design, aims, goals, objectives,
implementation and evaluation; curriculum issues and trends;
instructional approaches, direct instruction, guided discovery
instruction and pure discovery instructions; pedagogy and teaching
models; and basic concepts of curriculum and instruction in special
and preschool education.

Objective of the course

To provide learners with the:


knowledge about fields, domains, approaches and theories of
curriculum.
understanding about essentials foundation of curriculum and its
relationship to curriculum dynamism.
understanding about models of instruction and instructional
improvement through supervisory leadership.
application of concepts of curriculum and instruction in preschool,
special and gifted education

Leaning outcome
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

LO 1 compare and contrast fields, domains, approaches and theories of


curriculum;
LO 2 analyse on philosophical, historical, psychological and sociological
foundations of curriculum, and its relation application to curriculum
development and design;
LO 3 illustrate on curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, issues and
trends;
LO 4 design models of instruction;
LO 5 apply concepts of curriculum and instruction in preschool and special
education.
