filtration
Background of the
study
The formula for calcium carbonate.
CaCO3
What is Calcium Carbonate:
It is connoted as the most useful and
versatile material known to man. Compromising
4% of the earths crust, it is abundant in different
forms eg. Chalk, limestone, marble
Calcium carbonate is a mildly alkaline
product and is used in a variety of
environmental applications. It is the most
common reagent used in flue-gas
desulfurization applications, removing
harmful SO2 emissions from coal and other
fossil fuel exhausts. It is also used to de-
acidify lakes and neutralize acidic water
runoff from mines (Huber Engineered
Materials, 2010).
Statement of the
problem
1. Are there ways to reduce waste on the
environment?
2. Can there be a product used as an
alternative to activated carbon for air
filtration system?
3. Is there a product innovation that lessen
cost?
Theoretical Background
The study is conducted to answer
the problem of air pollution through
small scale solution using applied
engineering fields and subjects such
as Heating, Ventilation and Air
Conditioning.
Hypothesis
The study is foreseen to
formulate a product that will help
the condition of air filtration
system in the Philippines while
helping the environment to
reduce waste.
General objective
This study aims to lessen the disposal
of waste in order to reduce.
The design and study aims to integrate
the process of ventilation and the concept of
environmental science. In broader view, it
compromises the vision of an engineer to
help the society and industry without staking
the environment.
