Almighty Father, You

have made Your

instruments in showing
the beauty, drama and
meaning of life You have
given us here on earth.
Today, as we take on
the demanding
responsibilities of
being your servants,
grant us:

-healthy bodies to
welcome the Holy Spirit
and be our strength
against stress, pressures
and any physical threats;
-clean souls to battle
the temptations of
fame, fortune,
selfishness, and
vanity;
-and sincere hearts to
effectively
communicate your
message in every
scene that we do to all
who are watching.
We humbly ask these
qualities from you, Father,
for it is only with a
healthy body, a clean
soul, and a sincere heart
that we can truly serve
You.
Thank you for giving
us the chance to be
who You want us to be.
We offer everything
back to you.
May your glory
remain in our
hearts forever.
All these we ask
through Jesus Christ
our Lord, in union
with the Holy Spirit,
through the intercession
of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, our Mother,
and St. Catherine of
Alexandria, our
patroness.
AMEN.
Defined as a willingness to give
one’s time and energy to
something that one believes in,
or a promise or firm decision to
do something or be loyal, or an
attitude to work very hard to do
or support something.
Consciously or unconsciously,
we all have commitments in life.
Most of the time we have
multiple commitments, some of
which may overlap and even
contradict each other.
Some of our common
commitments include
the following:
Commitment to self
and self-development.
Commitment
to people.
Commitment to
a group or institution.
Commitment to
a task or interest.
Commitment to
a value or cause.
Commitment to
God, the Church,
and ministry.

What are my current commitments?
Which ones are more important
to me? Less important? Why?
Do I fulfill my important
commitment(s)? Why or why not?
Committing to someone or something
is not just accepting responsibilities but
also preparing ourselves to face their
consequences. It entails trust in
ourselves, strength of character,
as well as endurance so we may
overcome challenges and difficulties
of our commitments.
Thus, being committed is not
easy since fulfilling them often
means going beyond our
personal needs or comfort zones
and even demand us to forego
of other responsibilities.
Being a committed
person, therefore, requires
maturity, discipline,
and sacrifice.

As social beings,
an important
commitment we have
is our relationship with
others.
Some young people
take their commitments
seriously, while others
neglect them.
Potential commitment is
uninteresting or undesirable.
Unfavorable circumstances.
Dislike responsibility and
accountability.
Personal attitudes.
The Church envisions young
people to grow in their
commitment to their relationship
with CHRIST, to their personal
development and to
community involvement.
It also calls us to commit
ourselves to actively participate
in the mission of the Church as

“ Evangelizers”
especially to our fellow youth.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to
Matthew (7:24-27)

The Two Foundations.

Jesus said, “Everyone who listens to these
words of mine and acts on them will be like a
wise man who built his house on rock. The rain
fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and
buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it
had been set solidly on rock. And everyone
who listens to these words of mine but does
not act on them will be like a fool who built his
house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
